However, because of Near-Far Effect and many other technical concerns, GNSS has seldom been used in high precision spacecraft orbit determination at Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) and High Earth Orbit (HEO). In order to analyze and solve the Near-Far Effect that might encounter in GNSS space applications, this work studies the influence factors of Near-Far Effect, such as free space propagation loss, orbital altitude, ionosphere and troposphere Effect, the concept of Strong-to-Weak signal ratio is proposed and analyzed carefully, some results are given as well. Three Near-Far Effect mitigation technical approaches are proposed, namely positive adjustment method, FDMA proposal, and interference cancellation approach. However, more deep research is in need to do comparisons and assess the performance of these methods in future work.","PeriodicalId":335344,"journal":{"name":"Journal of aeronautics, astronautics and aviation, Series A","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124684204","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, previous studies have demonstrated that failures of automated systems have significantly impaired pilots' situational awareness. The increased application of automation and the trend of pilots to rely on automation have changed pilot's role from an operator to a supervisor in the cockpit. Based on the analysis of 257 ASRS reports, the result demonstrated that pilots represent the last line of defense during automation failures, though sometimes pilots did commit active failures combined with automation-induced human errors. Current research found that automation breakdown has direct associated with 4 categories of precondition of unsafe acts, including 'adverse mental states', 'CRM', 'personal readiness', and 'technology environment'. Furthermore, the presence of 'CRM' almost 3.6 times, 12.7 times, 2.9 times, and 4 times more likely to occur concomitant failures in the categories of 'decision-errors', 'skill-based error', 'perceptual errors', and 'violations'. Therefore, CRM is the most critical category for developing intervention of Human-Automation Interaction (HAI) issues to improve aviation safety. The study of human factors in automated cockpit is critical to understand how incidents/accidents had developed and how they could be prevented. Future HAI research should continue to increase the reliability of automation on the flight deck, develop backup systems for the occasional failures of cockpit automation, and train flight crews with competence of CRM skills in response to automation breakdowns.","PeriodicalId":335344,"journal":{"name":"Journal of aeronautics, astronautics and aviation, Series A","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128515200","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since the landing procedure for a fixed-wing UAV is different from civil aviation, the landing data collected from real flight tests were analysed to design the automatic landing strategy. The adopted experimental platform is the Spoonbill-100 (SP-100) UAV system which was designed by the Remotely Piloted Vehicle & Micro Satellite Research Laboratory (RMRL) at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU). To boost the process of development and verification, the fuzzy logic control (FLC) was utilized to design the flight control system which includes lateral control, longitudinal control, and navigation strategy. Furthermore, an adaptive fuzzy control was applied to the altitude control for switching the membership functions of the fuzzy controller. The adaptive altitude control made the UAV have better performance during landing process. Finally, the designed automatic landing strategy and autonomous flight control was verified by using the developed HIL simulation system and a real flight test platform. The simulation and real flight test results show that the proposed automatic landing system can achieve the requirements of automatic landing procedure for SP-100 UAV.","PeriodicalId":335344,"journal":{"name":"Journal of aeronautics, astronautics and aviation, Series A","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115669751","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, for multi-target problem, additional function should be included to enhance UAV performance. This paper introduces the Dynamic Programming (DP) for solving multiple target path planning into UAV system. The proposed hybrid solution integrates GA with DP for UAV to guarantee the safety requirement and feasibility for path planning. The Virtual Flight Map (VFM) is built for path planning algorithm. Between two targets, GA finds the optimal path with suitable fitness function; while with the distance matrices between all pairs of multiple targets, DP expands the two target path planning into multiple targets. The DP decides the visiting sequence of multiple targets and visits all targets just in once tour and finally returns to the starting point in the shortest route. The proposed algorithm is formulated and integrated for complete tests.","PeriodicalId":335344,"journal":{"name":"Journal of aeronautics, astronautics and aviation, Series A","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127623050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Depending on the structure of the mobile communication system, the signals can be stretched through the UAV with the repeater platform, which can help to prove the connection rapidly with communication dead zones. A high performance helical antenna used for data transmission on UAV will be design and constructed in present work. There are three main experimental steps. The feasibility evaluation, connection distance and the calculation of receive sensitivity are the first step. Second, follow the limitations and conditions of UAV to launch the experiments. As a result, collision avoidance for GA will become the most concern to aviation safety. The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has rapidly growing into civilian applications. Low altitude airspace becomes more crowded. Varieties of conflict detection and resolution (CD&R) were required under two and three maneuvering dimensions for GA and UAV. This paper focuses on efficient collision avoidance logic for GA and UAV based on ADS-R for NextGen. Heading change of horizontal resolution is more suitable for small GA or UAV flying in low altitude in the proposed CD&R model. Simulations using real ultralight flight data are tested to verify the performance and efficiency of the proposed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":335344,"journal":{"name":"Journal of aeronautics, astronautics and aviation, Series A","volume":"2008 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127316991","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The wing is a flat plate with rectangular planform and leading edge pivot axis at reduced pitch rates in a range of 0-0.13. The measurements were conducted using direct force measurement, dye flow visualization, and lens-shift stereo PIV. The measurement force data show that the wing at the phase of pitch acceleration in still water produces prominent normal force; insignificant forces are observed as the wing in constant pitch rate motion. The change of constant pitch rate of the wing gives promising forces under the strike of incoming uniform flow, consequently, causing effects similar to that of camber line change. The measured lift coefficient at a given reduced pitch rate are in good agreement with the results from a quasi-steady potential flow theory before dynamic stall. The theory fails to predict the drag coefficient due to the presence of dynamic wingtip vortex formation. Effect of Reynolds number in consideration on the pitching wing is insignificant. The occurrence of force stall at high angle of attack is associated with the evolution of spanwise flow in the wake, as revealed from dye flow visualization. Held at 45-degree angle of attack the wing experiences force bumps in transition to steady state; this transient behavior depends on reduced pitch rate and the shedding of swirling flow about streamwise direction.","PeriodicalId":335344,"journal":{"name":"Journal of aeronautics, astronautics and aviation, Series A","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127865237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A global optimal filtering algorithm called robust federated extended Kalman filter (RFEKF) is proposed to fulfill data fusion. In this algorithm, an adaptive extended Kalman filter (EKF) with measurement noise scale factor is derived as the local filters to reduce the influence of measurement malfunctions and enhance the robustness of orbit determination system. The statistical threshold detection scheme based on the residual chi-square test is used for the fault detection.
