The accuracy of the modeling-based cavitation risk evaluation is limited by the unclear correspondence between cylinder liner vibration and coolant cavitation. This report is intended to investigate the correspondence between cylinder liner vibration and coolant pressure by combining vibration cavitation test, pressure gradient calculation, and visualization observation. The cavitation risk of the cylinder liner under piston slap is also quantitatively analyzed based on the nonlinear structural dynamics model. The results show that the occurrence of cavitation will cause a nonlinear relationship between the cylinder liner acceleration and the coolant pressure. The difference in cavitation risk for each cylinder is related to the structural modal characteristics of the crankcase. In addition, the effect of piston-liner clearance and piston pin offset on the cavitation risk is investigated based on the dynamics model.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117189983","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This leads to difficulties to estimate the system reliability due to computational costs. An adaptive method is thereby proposed to deal with this issue. It constructs a global metamodel to quickly estimate the rough reliability index of a truss. According to the estimated reliability index, the differential evolution algorithm is performed to generate more samples located in an expanded domain so that more representative failure modes can be identified. Combined with AK-SYSi, local metamodels of representative failure mods are built, and updated through active learning. When the convergence criterion is satisfied, the results of system reliability analysis can be obtained. Eventually, two examples of truss structures are studied to illustrate the superiority of the proposed method in balancing accuracy and efficiency. The results indicate that the proposed method makes a good balance between accuracy and efficiency when it is applied to analyze the system reliability of the truss.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116248955","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Typically, RBDs are transformed into Bayesian networks for quantitative analysis of systems. Bayesian networks are probabilistic graphical models that can capture the uncertainties and causal relationships in complex systems. They can provide various reliability metrics such as failure probability, mean time to failure, availability, etc. However, these techniques have several drawbacks, especially for large-scale models, such as being extremely time and memory-consuming. To address these issues, we propose a hybrid method for quantitative analysis of large-scale RBDs based on the structure identification approach and binary decision diagrams. Theoretical analysis and case verification demonstrate that the proposed method is significantly more efficient than the current one.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132906928","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to cascading failures being a ticklish question triggering continuous road congestion, the maintenance plan is momentous to restore the urban transportation network. Considering fault edges are removed and cars slowly drive out of these edges to ease traffic congestion, a traffic distribution model is proposed to analyze the cascading failures process. To resume the transportation network, this paper proposes a maintenance optimization with minimizing maintenance time. It recovers the cascading failures from two perspectives: the intra-area maintenance model and the inter-area maintenance model. At last, a transportation network of a city in China is regarded as a case study to illuminate the feasibility of the proposed models. The results show that on the premise of dividing traffic areas, it is reasonable to adopt the intra-area maintenance plan for cascading failures. Compared with the intra-area maintenance plan, the inter-area maintenance plan saves more time.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"43 7","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114136015","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To accurately assess the strength reliability of the turbine under multiple loads, the stress distributions of 41 danger sites of a turbine under thermal, centrifugal, and pneumatic loads were determined by the flow-thermal-solid coupling analysis using ANSYS. Second, based on the flow-thermal-solid coupling analysis and response surface method, the probabilistic analysis model of stress at the danger site was established. And the probabilistic distribution of stress was determined by sampling and hypothesis testing. Finally, the reliability model of the turbine with multi-site damage and failure dependency was established, by which a reliability of 0.99802 was calculated. And the actual reliability of the turbine was 0.99626 determined by the Monte Carlo simulations, which verified the model in precision. The process parameters of group bolt assembly directly affect the stiffness of the connected parts. The dynamic model of bolted joints is established based on the fractal theory, and the overall stiffness of joint surface is calculated. In order to improve the total stiffness of bolted assembly, an improved particle swarm optimization algorithm with combination of time-varying weights and contraction factor is proposed. The input parameters are preloading of bolts, fractal dimension, roughness, and object thickness. The main goal is to maximize the global rigidity. The optimization results show that improved algorithm has better convergence, faster calculation speed, preferable results, and higher optimization performance than standard particle swarm optimization algorithm. However, as the mining depth gets deeper, impact load that came from the roof becomes stronger and more frequent. This causes the support to bear a large number of dynamic loads, and reducing its reliability. To improve the support performance of the chock-shield support, the mixed-kinetic model was established using the mechanical-hydraulic co-simulation method. The load distribution law of the support joint under impact load form different stability forces, impact load amplitude, and impact frequency is discussed. The mechanical-hydraulic cooperative response of the chock-shield support are obtained. The results show that different joints show typical non-uniformity characteristic during the loading process. Variable load or temperature conditions affect the vibration signal values. The article presents a new approach to diagnosing rotating machines using an artificial neural network, the training of which does not require data from the damaged machine. This is a new approach not previously found in the literature. Until now, neural networks have been used for machine diagnosis in the form of classifiers, where data from individual faults were required. A new diagnostic parameter rDPNS (Relative Differences Product of Network Statistics) as a function of the machine's shaft order was proposed as a kind of new order spectrum independent of the machine's operating conditions. The presented work analyses the use of the proposed method to diagnose misalignment and unbalance. The results of an experiment carried out in the laboratory demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122713264","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The relationship between the parameters of the screw feeder and its technological characteristics is investigated by the example of two fine-grained materials. A new mathematical model and design algorithm have been developed, which takes into account the properties of materials, the roller press parameters, the shape of the briquettes, and their deformation after compaction. The relationship between the pre-compaction pressure and the material stack height at the inlet is determined. The relations between the torque, the screw pitch, and the material stack height above the inlet, as well as the drive power and the screw pitch on productivity, are investigated. In experiments, using the proposed design, the compaction ratio of the peat increases by 22-27%, and hydrolyzed lignin – by 14-17%. The proposed approach allows for preventing drive overloading and ensures the reliable operation of pre-compaction devices for the roller presses.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132041498","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
