The Vackar VCO provides good isolation between LC tank and loss-compensating active circuit; thus, excellent frequency stability is achieved over the frequency tuning range. Simple analysis and simulations examine the transistor loading effect and amplitude stability. Results indicate that the Vackar VCO has improved amplitude stability compared to the Colpitts VCO. The improved amplitude stability is favorable for suppressing amplitude-to-phase (AM/PM) noise conversion. Two Vackar VCOs were fabricated to examine their phase noise. C-band Vackar VCO implemented in 0.18 μm RF CMOS shows oscillation frequency ranged from 4.85 to 4.93 GHz. The measured phase noise of the C-band Vackar VCO is -124.9 dB/Hz from 1 MHz offset at 4.9 GHz with a figure-of-merit (FOM) of -188 dBc/Hz. K-band Vackar VCO with gate inductive feedback is implemented in a 0.13 μm RF CMOS process. The oscillation frequency ranges from 19 to 19.95 GHz. Analog SC-FDE adopts double sideband (DSB) technique (referred to as analog SC-DSB-FDE) to transmit signal. In this paper, in order to double the spectrum efficiency of analog SC-DSB-FDE, single sideband (SSB) technique is introduced. Analog SC-SSB-FDE applies discrete Fourier transform (DFT), frequency-domain spectrum shaping filter and mapping, inverse DFT (IDFT), and cyclic prefix (CP) insertion before transmission. At the receiver, one-tap FDE is applied to take advantage of frequency diversity and a spectrum copy for restoring spectrum is applied. Typical distributed base stations consist of base band units (BBUs) and remote radio heads (RRHs). RRHs are deployed apart from BBU and connected to it generally through a fiber optic cable. Compression of baseband signal is an efficient way to decrease the data rates on the fiber link between BBU and RRHs. This paper presents a compression and decompression scheme. It truncates least significant bits according to the largest absolute value in a block, thereby achieves lossy compression at each of I and Q data, respectively. It restores the signal by using proposed stuffing bits to suppress DC component in the signal and relieve signal to noise ratio degradation by compression and decompression. The simulation results suggest that the proposed scheme provides promising performance of error vector magnitude with low latency. It enables cost effective implementation since it does not require any multiply accumulate operation. There are two research trends corresponding to two data types, which are static and dynamic gestures. The static gesture is recognized based on the hand shape, while motion is the main feature in identifying dynamic gestures. In this paper, we propose an approach for modeling the dynamic hand gestures based on a combination of two mentioned information. At first, the hand silhouette is extracted using a skin-color filter. A sequence of geometric manipulations is then performed to remove the possible arm. The characteristics which describe the hand shape and motion orientation are estimated. Finally, the k-means clustering technique is combined with hidden Markov model to model each dynamic gesture. In this paper, we propose a new particle cloud propagation algorithm that is based on Particle Filter for target tracking in WSN. The proposed method allows to track different kind of targets, including unfriendly targets in nonlinear and/or non-Gaussian environment. The integration between compressive sensing (CS) and RW provides some different points of view about data collection in WSNs. Based on a small certain number of CS measurements (M), all raw sensor readings from N nodes can be recovered at the base-station (M ≪ N). In this paper, we analyze RW based on theory and practice. We investigate the trade-off between exploring the measurement matrix and setting up the length for RWs to achieve the energy consumption smallest for WSNs. In addition, we formulate the total power consumption that contains the average consumed energy of each RW and the average consumed energy to send measurements in multi-hop through intermediate nodes from RWs to the base-station (BS). In our previous publication, we proposed a new evolutionary algorithm, called DEAL (Direction-guided Evolutionary Algorithm). It works effectively on non-linear optimization problems. In this paper, we extend further DEAL towards the area of multi-modality by applying a crowding mechanism, called as CrowdingDEAL. We validated CrowdingDEAL algorithm with a wide range of benchmark problems.
