This research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK), which is divided into two cycles with four stages, namely: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting repeatedly. The subjects of this study were students of grade V at SD Borong Jambu II Makassar, totaling 30 students. The instruments used to obtain data in this study consisted of tests, observation sheets, and questionnaires. This data analysis technique was carried out by analyzing learning outcome data, analyzing data from interviews, and analyzing field note data. The pre-action results were 33.33% who got a value of ≥75, then after learning using the quantum teaching model increased to 60% in cycle I increased to 30 students or all students earned a score of ≥75 in cycle II. It can be concluded that learning using the quantum teaching model by doing variations shows that the criteria for success in the study are fulfilled. This can be seen from the increase in grade V students in social studies score at SD Borong Jambu II of Makassar.","PeriodicalId":332848,"journal":{"name":"International Journal for Educational and Vocational Studies","volume":"203 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123046182","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The reality in the field shows that management is a discourse that has not yet received serious attention. Therefore, this study aims to gain a deep perception of the Management of Schools in Islamic Vocational High Schools. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. The results of this study are classified into several steps. First, planning, Second, organizing, Third, mobilizing, Fourth, supervision. The results of the study indicate that in common the management of schools in Panglima Besar (PB) Soedirman Islamic Vocational School Jakarta takes place following the management functions applied in schools, this can be observed from the curriculum planning process carried out comprehensively and based on Islamic principles. Organizing activities in student affairs by linking all study programs and cross committees, the good student progress, and comprehensive supervision covering all supporting elements as well as supervision involving various stakeholders using the religious-based management approach. The harmonious coordination of the scholarly community-based academic scheme in the four fields of expertise makes Panglima Besar Soedirman Islamic Vocational School Jakarta one of the references to a superior Islamic-based vocational school in the Jakarta community.","PeriodicalId":332848,"journal":{"name":"International Journal for Educational and Vocational Studies","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132168479","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since corruption is not an acceptable behaviour and there is the need to avoid and prevent it in the society, it was argued that with effective mathematics teaching and learning, students will acquire the knowledge and inherent values of mathematics towards cultivating good and acceptable behaviours. This will help Nigeria to produce well-behaved citizens and to develop in a healthy manner. Some vital concepts in mathematics through which good and acceptable behaviours and values can be inculcated into students discussed in this paper include the critical roles of formulas, logic and mathematical games. The paper concluded that, besides the acquisition of knowledge, mathematics is useful in cultivating good behaviours in students for good the society. It was thereof, recommended that all mathematics teacher should be encouraged to teach the subject very well through the use of practical examples in order to make its learning simple, realistic and interesting for the students. It as well looked at the causes of students’ failure in mathematics in internal and external examinations to include lack of understanding of mathematics language. The persistent poor performance of students in internal and external examinations in mathematics has become an issue of concern to Mathematics educators, and relevant stakeholders. Findings of recent research studies in mathematics education have identified inadequate understanding of mathematics language to translate word problems into mathematical form as one of the factors responsible for poor performance. Hence, this paper examined the language of mathematics and its understanding. Specifically, the paper discussed the algebraic language; the language of basic operations; the language of set theory; the language of functions; the language of relations; the logical language and the language of differential calculus. The paper further examined the usefulness of variables; difficulties in learning mathematical language and made some recommendations among many others to include that mathematics teachers should teach the mathematical language instruction in mathematics before proceeding to the topic proper to enhance better performances of students in mathematics.","PeriodicalId":332848,"journal":{"name":"International Journal for Educational and Vocational Studies","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131629236","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
