The methods currently applied in the textile industry to determine clothing fit do not provide sufficient qualitative and quantitative data. In general, evaluation is subjective, which is difficult to use in further research to gain any improvements. Development of a sensor matrix would be able to address this problem. Specifics of the industry do not allow direct transfer of existing sensor solutions to measure pressure and other characteristics, possible solutions should be researched to develop user-friendly, flexible, easy to use product. A new prototype of the sensor matrix has been developed on the basis of research carried out in the previous work. Sensor matrix was evaluated, the results of the measurements were analyzed.","PeriodicalId":332414,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 61th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121986365","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper we introduce a novelty in economic model to consider the replacement of different types of high-intensity discharge lamps (HID) by LED lights. The global saving norm and the payback indicator are determined based on two main aspects; “Company Benefits”, in which the Gas Company can gain it directly, and “National Benefits” that can be achieved by creating better gas sales opportunity for the county and by the reduction of the CO2emission and hence the pollution.","PeriodicalId":332414,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 61th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125888409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research focus on the possibilities of using waste as an energy resource - both the aspects of waste recovery, from the point of view of reducing the amount of landfilled waste, and the extraction and further efficient use of landfill gas. In this case the TOPSIS analysis method was used, five alternatives were selected - waste as an energy resource, which was evaluated based on four criteria: technological, economic, social, as well as environmental and climate aspects. The results of ranking energy recovery methods from waste using the TOPSIS method clearly show that the most optimal of the selected alternatives is the use of biodegradable (organic) waste for biogas production. This opens up opportunities for biofuels to be applied in road transport.","PeriodicalId":332414,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 61th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127179458","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Lighting consumes a significant share of total electricity consumption. The governments are making policies to promote the usage of energy-efficient electrical appliances. The energy-efficient lamps are now replacing the inefficient incandescent lamps to reduce power consumption. These lamps encompass non-linear circuits and reduce the power quality of the distribution network. The large scale penetration of energy-efficient can have an enormous effect on power quality issues in the grid. This study provides an estimation of harmonic current emission by the gradual replacement of incandescent lamps with compact fluorescent and light-emitting diode lamps.","PeriodicalId":332414,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 61th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121326264","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The electric non-rotating machine generates electromagnetic and acoustic waves, by means of which it is possible to analyze not only operating states but also its possible fault states. We performed measurements of acoustic emission on the traction transformers 25/6 kV and 110/3 kV that were in real operation. We studied the spatial distribution of the acoustical field as well as its spectra. Preliminary results have shown that acoustic analysis may be a useful alternative option for high-power transformer's health condition.","PeriodicalId":332414,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 61th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115462995","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When managing the power system and predicting its modes, the important tasks are to check the reliability of data and estimate the state of the power system. The introduction of synchrophasor measurements, on the one hand, makes it possible to solve the problem of state estimation more efficiently in comparison with traditional telemetry. On the other hand, previously used data validation technologies are not suitable for their use with synchrophasor measurements due to the new properties of these measurements. It should also be borne in mind that these two tasks are interrelated. This study provides an overview of recently proposed power system state estimation and data validation methods based on synchrophasor measurements.","PeriodicalId":332414,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 61th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121579746","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Microlearning, gamified learning are two novel ICT techniques most appropriate for e-learning material and programs which attracted renewed attention because of the CoVID-19 social distancing measures. Alongside those, the more established technique of practice-oriented learning is being revisited to adapt to the new challenges. This article presents the main results and conclusions of deliverable 3.1. of the ERASMUS+ Capacity Building for Higher Education project “Electrical Energy Markets and Engineering Education (ELEMEND)” which is devoted to training partner staff in micro learning, practice oriented teaching and gamified learning. After the goals of ELEMEND are presented in the light of modern engineering education, the concept of micro learning as a training paradigm is discussed. Next, gamification technology is described in view of its role in the educational process and specific implementation examples are given. Finally, the practice-oriented approach both in teaching and in learning with the methods used to carry on this approach is presented.","PeriodicalId":332414,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 61th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115942332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
