Reducing CO2emissions has become a requirement of the time and is also considered by each country separately within the existing capabilities. In order to identify the most acceptable solution for Latvia on this issue, we calculated 6 scenarios of energy savings when gas stoves were substituted with electric and induction ones. Additionally, the costs of electrifying stoves vs cars for Latvian households was compared. Technical assessment of decarbonization potential revealed that the most adaptive way for CO2reduction in households is to concentrate efforts first on electrification of stoves in Latvian kitchens; and most preferable first step - to begin with equipment that uses LPG. This helps to implement NECP requirements concerning household sector decarbonization in the most effective and frugal way.","PeriodicalId":332414,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 61th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115210409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The share of electrical vehicles (EVs) are increasing in recent period to reduce the emissions and efficient use of resources. The EVs can play a sustainable role in grid stability through power infeed to the grid and act as a storage unit. However, the role of EVs in outage scenarios requires more investigations to ensure the quality and security prospective. This paper sets out to outline the key factors and their inter-dependencies during a power outage for a distribution grid with EVs. For this investigation, various grid simulations are conducted, and the results are presented.","PeriodicalId":332414,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 61th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131073332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is due to changes both in the operating mode of the equipment, and changes in the power supply scheme itself. To consider constantly changing parameters, monitoring systems are used that form unfiltered datasets with sets of information that changes in the time series. Due to the fact that datasets are formed constantly and at different objects of the power supply system, the flow of such information can already be used for short-term forecasting or creating a mathematical model of consumption and distribution of electric energy throughout the field. Under such conditions, the most convenient way of calculating, knowing the main parameters of the power system, is the matrix-topological method.","PeriodicalId":332414,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 61th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133398501","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By changing the switching frequency in a specified range, the intended method maintains a boost converter in BCM despite input voltage and load changes. This high-frequency method is implemented in an analog form which is more cost-effective in comparison with digital implementation. In addition, GaN switches are employed instead of silicon ones, which have lower losses at high frequencies. Simulation and experimental results obtained from applying the proposed method on a bi-directional boost converter is indicative of the efficiency of the proposed strategy.","PeriodicalId":332414,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 61th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126581139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper presents the research of traction SRM, describes the developed control algorithms based on load angle detection by a rotary encoder and proposes a novel modified algorithm based on the difference of load-dependent variable phase current fragment. Test bench with SRM drive is developed and developed control algorithms are implemented in MCU software. Experimental results show the workability of the developed algorithms proving the opportunity to use single-phase current sensor for control of SRM with variable load.","PeriodicalId":332414,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 61th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114669331","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By implementing a fuzzy logic controller, an optimal steady-state and enhanced transient behavior of converter phase current sharing has been achieved to avoid coupled inductor saturation. The proposed controller considers converter load change to be compatible with single DC link current sensor measurement and phase current reconstruction technics. The described control method performance is verified by simulation and experimental results on a 5-phase converter with coupled inductors and distributed DC link capacitors using indirect current measurement technique with one sensor.","PeriodicalId":332414,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 61th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114946599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It features two main operating modes, buck and boost, which correspond to the converter operation above and below the nominal voltage, respectively. Power loss models are developed for both operating modes to identify the mechanism of losses. They consider switching and conduction losses in the input-side switches, core and windings losses in the transformer and the quasi-Z-source inductor, and conduction losses in the voltage doubler rectifier diodes. The developed loss models are verified at three input voltages using a 300 W experimental prototype. The inaccuracy of the developed models does not exceed 2 W, which is acceptable in comparison with the maximum estimated power loss of over 12 W. The experimental and the estimated efficiency follow the same trend. Also, the estimated efficiency exceeds the measured by no more than 1% at full power.","PeriodicalId":332414,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 61th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128674160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
