Abstract

This paper proposes an optimized current balancing controller for automotive multi-phase DC converter with coupled inductors. By implementing a fuzzy logic controller, an optimal steady-state and enhanced transient behavior of converter phase current sharing has been achieved to avoid coupled inductor saturation. The proposed controller considers converter load change to be compatible with single DC link current sensor measurement and phase current reconstruction technics. The described control method performance is verified by simulation and experimental results on a 5-phase converter with coupled inductors and distributed DC link capacitors using indirect current measurement technique with one sensor.
