C., (APELC) offers many Marx generators with stored energies ranging from 5 mJ to 1.8 kJ. The line of Marx generators offered by APELC can be used in a variety of applications including flash x-ray, high-power RF, high-power microwave, test and evaluation, triggering, and material studies. The MG15-3C-940PF (MG15), in particular, has seen wide use and integration into many systems over the past several years. The MG15 is a 33-J, 50-Ohm source and is capable of limited duty at 150 Hz at a maximum output voltage of 300 kV on to a matched load. The range of capabilities and custom configurations achieved by the MG15 as well as a sampling of the applications featuring the use of the MG15 will be presented. Besides the gate drive, also the design of a PCB-Rogowski coil, which is used for measuring currents and for di/dt detection, is explained and different designs are compared. The active species such as ozone and OH radical that have high oxidizing power are generated in the place injecting the droplets by the discharge, and can be effectively used to decompose organic materials that are difficult to decompose. However, there is few investigation of interaction between the pulse streamer discharge and the droplet. It is thought that the proceeding route of the streamer discharge has two patterns. One is that the streamer discharge proceeds on the surface of the droplets of water. Another pattern is that the streamer discharge proceeds in inside of the water droplets. If the streamer discharge proceeds on the surface of the droplets of water, the active species dissolve from outside of the droplets of water for treating organic materials. If the streamer discharge proceeds in the inside of the droplets of water, the active species are generated in inside and outside of the droplets of water. In this study, the proceeding route of the pulse streamer discharge in the space with droplets of water has been investigated. The results show that the propagation lengths of the pulse streamer discharge in air without droplets of water are longer than the propagation lengths of the pulse streamer discharge in air with droplets of water.. Initial attempts to use a stacked MosFET circuit as a closing switch were unsuccessful due to the additional series inductance of the MosFET stack lowering the frequency of the oscillation on the coaxial radiator. Experimental results showed that by reducing the parasitic inductance due to the geometry of the MosFET stack, the frequency of the oscillation could be increased. Increased series resistance due to the stacked MosFETs was also a concern. In order to minimize the parasitic inductance of the stack and allow for multiple stacks to be connected in parallel, a printed circuit board was designed. Results from testing of the original switch stacks and board assembly are presented and compared with PSPICE simulations. Investigation of magnesium, copper and molybdenum photocathode candidates for optically triggered pseudospark switches, also called back-lighted thyratrons (BLTs), has shown that magnesium has a higher quantum efficiency (up to 1.5×10−5) under BLT-relevant pressure conditions, compared to copper or molybdenum [4]. Magnesium, copper and molybdenum-based BLT cathodes were experimentally studied. A compact UV laser with an intensity of 3 mJ, and optical power density of 8.5×106 W/cm2 per pulse was used as the optical triggering source for these studies. It was demonstrated that both the delay and the jitter of the switch were shortened more than an order of magnitude when the Mg foil was present at the cathode. Nearly all simulation work on this cathode to-date has been carried out utilizing the MAGIC particle-in-cell (PIC) code. Simulations of the A6 magnetron with transparent cathode using the 3-dimensional code Improved Concurrent Electromagnetic Particle-In-Cell (ICEPIC) at the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) were carried out to examine the performance of the transparent code and compare with results from MAGIC. The lower the desired operational frequency of the antenna, the larger the physical size of the antenna. In order to overcome this issue, the University of Missouri-Columbia's Center for Physical and Power Electronics has been actively researching the properties of dielectric loaded antennas. Based on simulation models, it has been found that the addition of a dielectric material within the core of a helix will translate into a reduction in the operational frequency of the antenna. Using this knowledge, a 18.6mm diameter × 81mm tall helical antenna was designed around a core with a dielectric constant of εr=45. This yielded a 65.4% decrease in the antenna's operational frequency from 5.13GHz to 1.775GHz as well as a 95.86% decrease in the physical size of a comparable 1.75GHz air core helical antenna. The program CST Microwave Studio was used to simulate these antenna designs derived from Krauss's formulas. The objective of the work is to reduce the rate of Joule heating of armatures during acceleration and to increase the ultimate (under heating conditions) kinematic characteristics of accelerators by choosing the optimal shape and structure of armatures and rails and the electrothermal properties of the armature and rail materials.
