The first conference was held virtually in May 2021 and the second version was organised in Sarawak in September 2022 using a hybrid approach. It is a conference that brings governments, academics, researchers, industry players, associations, and communities together to harness partnership for a greater cause. Despite being a young conference, it receives some attention from the regional and international delegates, including officials from the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and Emerald Publishing. In particular, ICRTH2022 was purposefully designed to (1) involve local enterprises and support their business/products, (2) engage local communities and maximise travel benefits, (3) empower the youth and work with them, and (4) incorporate sustainable practices into the conference. This conference notes, however, also highlight some limitations or constraints in organising the conference for future consideration. The intention is to reflect on the shortcomings and evaluate what can be done better. The originally Sarawak homegrown ICRTH has now spread its network and partnership beyond its border to Southeast Asia and Asia Pacific. More importantly, it enables the responsible tourism movement and missions to gain more ground in the said regions.","PeriodicalId":331687,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Responsible Tourism Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127617320","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite its potential, the development of CBT in the Cham community in Ninh Thuan province has yet to reach its full potential due to the rich and diverse tourism resources in the area. This study aims to assess the needs for CBT development in the Cham community of Ninh Thuan from the perspectives of local stakeholders. The research method used a mixed approach of qualitative and quantitative data collection, including field surveys, semi-structured interviews, and questionnaires, with a focus on the Cham community and local authorities. The findings indicate that the Cham community's cultural resources have great potential for CBT development and that the community is eager to participate in tourism activities. However, several key barriers, such as the lack of technical facilities, limited participation from local authorities, and insufficient knowledge, skills, and finance, prevent the community from participating in tourism activities. Thus, it is necessary for authorities to implement policies to improve tourism facilities, enhance tourism promotion, and support the community to participate in these activities. These recommendations will help to enhance the development of CBT in Ninh Thuan in the future.","PeriodicalId":331687,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Responsible Tourism Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133344371","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, the rural municipalities of Puerto Rico were severely impacted due to high levels of vulnerability and government failure to reach remote communities. Due to this struggle, the municipalities of Utuado, Ciales, Florida and Jayuya identified a need for a systems-level approach to develop resilience to future disasters. The development of agritourism is an opportunity to increase social-ecological resilience through income diversification, increased savings, and food security. However, it is first essential to identify the region’s capacities, limitations, and opportunities through mapping existing tourism infrastructure. Spatially explicit documentation supports the development of sustainable agritourism through providing access to existing resources, geographically displaying the current state of agritourism and highlighting opportunities for enhancing sustainability and resilience. This paper spatially represents the current state of tourism offerings related to gastronomy, accommodations, farms, and attractions that build the foundation of agritourism in Utuado, Ciales, Florida and Jayuya municipalities in Puerto Rico. Three steps led to the spatial representation: inventorying tourism assets, visualizing these assets through Google Maps, and exploring their contribution to a region-wide, systematic sustainable agritourism development strategy, using the functionalities of ArcGIS Storymap. The inventory, catalogs the number and variety of tourism resources available, the Google Maps visually displays those resources, and the ArcGIS Storymap synthesizes findings to be utilized by stakeholders, leveraging agritourism development to increase social-ecological resilience. This paper outlines the spatial maps of tourism resources and provides tools for decision makers, farmers, and tourists.","PeriodicalId":331687,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Responsible Tourism Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134551427","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
