This paper introduces an innovative approach designed to evaluate the quality of group members based on their consistency and deviations from the group's decision. The group members are considered as alternatives within a multi-criteria framework, employing several typical performance indicators as criteria to assess their competence and compliance with the group. Considering the policy-making, the paper provides a rationale for possibly excluding certain members from the decision-making process to prevent making unsustainable decisions. A case study is presented about the evaluation of the importance of six Ramsar sites in Serbia, facing imminent threats from water regime disturbances and climate change-induced droughts. Seven experts participated in the process and the results revealed that several experts displayed the poorest performance across all three prioritization schemes. This suggests the necessity for re-evaluating their judgments or considering their exclusion from the final decision-making process. The proposed assessment procedure holds promise for enhancing the potential to derive sustainable solutions in any complex and critical domain of water resources policy-making and strategic planning.","PeriodicalId":331301,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Engineering Science Technologies","volume":" 54","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140685132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was found that PMEI-MFC in a high magnetic field, multifunction cavitation in a high magnetic field (MEI-MFC), laser irradiation ultrasonic cavitation (LMEI-UC), and a combination of positron and laser irradiation ultrasonic cavitation in a high magnetic field (PLMEI-UC) could reduce the surface roughness of unprocessed metal specimens by approximately one-fourth. Furthermore, the PMEI-MFC method greatly improved the residual stress at the metal surface by up to 1155 MPa. Each of these technologies was found to increase the surface hardness although the PLM-WJC and PMEI-MFC processes, which generated high temperatures, produced smaller increases than were obtained using the LMEI-MFC technique. This difference is attributed to recrystallization, which eliminated work hardening at the outermost metal surface during processing using positrons. The data also indicate that the PMEI-MFC method was able to both smooth and flatten the metal surface. This research demonstrates an approach to precision peening that can reduce surface roughness while imparting high compressive residual stress.","PeriodicalId":331301,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Engineering Science Technologies","volume":" 23","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140682877","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Understanding rainfall intensity and its dependence on factors such as drop size distribution (DSD) is essential. This study investigates the relationship between drop size distribution and rainfall rate at Shillong station, Meghalaya, India, utilizing RD-80 disdrometer data for the year 2005. DSD plays a pivotal role in quantitative precipitation estimation, impacting rainfall properties like water content, intensity, and kinetic energy. Moreover, it is integral to satellite communication, aiding in the prediction of wave attenuation. We analyze the data to ascertain the correlation between rainfall rate and DSD, with an assumption of an exponential form for DSD. The analysis categorizes the daytime into four segments: Morning (6:00 AM-12:00 PM), Afternoon (12:00 PM-6:00 PM), Evening (6:00 PM-12:00 AM), and Night (12:00 AM-6:00 AM) to observe rain's diurnal variations. Notably, variations in correlation coefficients suggest differing rainfall patterns and intensity levels throughout the day and across months. These insights contribute to a deeper understanding of rainfall dynamics in the region, which is critical for effective water resource management and disaster preparedness.","PeriodicalId":331301,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Engineering Science Technologies","volume":"44 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140747086","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These challenges lie in conceptual definition of tax compliance and noncompliance. Randlane (2015) complains that the absence of universal definition for tax compliance and tax noncompliance makes it difficult to differentiate compliant behavior from non-compliant behavior. This paper explores tax compliance management strategies which developing countries can learn from and benchmark against. The study employs a content analysis method and taps from scholarly journals and articles from different time periods, the most recent being 2022. It adopts Randlane (2015) Simplified Model of Tax Compliance to investigate the strategic approaches that simplify management of tax compliance and factors that influence compliant decisions and choices. The framework provides some helpful insights by distinguishing the three thronged strategic approach of enforcement, service and trust, and the factors that must be closely considered when developing tax compliance management strategies that might help mitigate the major challenges confronting developing countries like Botswana. The paper also explores search words such as tax compliance, tax noncompliance, tax evasion, tax avoidance, hut tax, and shadow economies. The paper concludes that no single strategic approach effectively and sustainably manages tax compliance issues. Further, that voluntary compliance remains an illusion Manhire (2015) and Gildenhuys, 1997 cited in Botlhale (2019) because compliance has nothing to do with taxpayer willingness to pay or not to pay taxes as it is an outcome that has already been achieved voluntarily or by force Randlane (2015).","PeriodicalId":331301,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Engineering Science Technologies","volume":"5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139213868","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The exacerbation of the crisis is mostly attributed to a combination of institutional incompetence, insufficient equipment support, poor preventative measures, and a lack of awareness among people. The occurrence of fires in various shopping malls has become more prevalent in contemporary times. In the event of fire incidents inside shopping malls, there is a potential for both human casualties and property damage to occur. Contemporary shopping practices include the use of ornamental materials that possess a heightened susceptibility to combustion, hence amplifying the risk of fire incidents. The objective of this research is to assess the state of fire safety management in retail complexes. This research focuses on conducting a survey to assess fire safety in four high rise retail complexes located in the Mirpur region of Dhaka city. This study aimed to design a checklist methodology for assessing the fire safety standards of retail complexes. The assessment of fire safety levels in shopping malls by the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense directorate involves assigning varying weights to several parameters related to fire safety management. A study has shown that the majority of shopping malls exhibit characteristics of being high rise and mixed use, hence exacerbating their susceptibility to fires and subsequently increasing the associated fire risk. The majority of the shopping centers that were assessed are situated next to important roads, which are often broad enough to accommodate fire engines. However, a recurring issue arises as these roadways often experience congestion or occupation. Out of the shopping centers surveyed, only Mirpur Shopping Center possesses an emergency exit and some essential fire signs and symbols. Conversely, the remaining three shopping centers, namely Shah Ali Plaza, Muktobangla Shopping Complex, and Shah Ali Shopping Complex, do not have designated emergency exits, signs, and symbols altogether. This deficiency causes these shopping centers to be more vulnerable to fire hazards and reduces their overall level of safety. These shopping malls are extensively encompassed by various electric poles and transformers. The fire safety score of Mirpur Shopping Center is 56.57 (excellent), Shah Ali Plaza is 33.55 (average) and Shah Ali Complex and Muktobangla is 25.44 and 26.75 (poor) respectively. The Fire hazard vulnerability score of Mirpur Shopping Center is 11 (less vulnerable), Shah Ali Plaza is 26 (moderate vulnerable), Muktobangla Shopping Complex is 31 (highly vulnerable) and Shah Ali Shopping Complex is 35 (highly vulnerable). A lot of people are talking about how the fire brigade in our country doesn't have the right tools or the most up-to-date training, and they aren't keeping an eye on safety measures closely enough.","PeriodicalId":331301,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Engineering Science Technologies","volume":"7 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139252302","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
