It may also extend to new ways people are using innovative technologies to interact with information systems. Such interactions may be benevolent, to protect systems, while other system interactions could be malevolent. Anecdotal discourse traces information systems threats emanating from increased malevolent behavior from both the employee of an organization as well as the employee of an outsourced organisation. This study uniquely seeks to share insights to the role the outsourced employee has become from two fronts; firstly that innovative technologies have increasingly enabled malevolent behavior and secondly; with the advent of outsourcing, monovalent activities in information systems has extended to the employees of an outsourced organisation. The study adopts the social bonding theory to explain these insights. A conceptual framework has been developed and tested in order to best represent the security threat posed to information systems by employees of an outsourced organisation. The research is quantitative with hypotheses formulated and tested. Findings suggested that innovative people and technologies has enabled more serious information security threats to be instigated. This is especially the case from the employees of an outsourced organisation.","PeriodicalId":331140,"journal":{"name":"2018 Open Innovations Conference (OI)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121401086","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While enterprises are transforming digitally, the practice of process modeling is also changing with little guidance on key considerations for realizing success process modeling. The focus of the paper was to determine key antecedents for realizing effective processing modeling during DT projects. A case study of a bank transforming its Customer Relationship Management (CRM) was used as a basis to “tease out” key factors critical for successful DT. A number of inferences emanate from the findings of this paper. The first is linked to the increasingly knowledge-based orientation and digitalization of our society that requires a re-think of how current organizations are structured and modelled. The notion of “Digitalization of Project Management” also emerged to undergird current transformations in project management, which affects how process modelling is currently practiced. Secondly, the implications of such digital transitions in process modeling is that the process of organizational modeling and structuring is encouraging more “Knowledge-Enabled Participation”, with its emphasis on expertise, team structure and competence of project participants. The last inference conflates the factors of “DT Evaluation” and “DT Modeling” that emerged from this study to make the following claim: that the process of organizational transformation will increasingly be “machine-based”, with process modeling and evaluation becoming predominantly digitalized. Therefore, process modeling and its foundational disciplines (such as project management and business process management) will transform, with an orientation elevating older terminologies such as automation and data-intensive processing; with organizational strategy intricately linked to process modeling as its anchor.","PeriodicalId":331140,"journal":{"name":"2018 Open Innovations Conference (OI)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114838092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, many South African farms have both challenges of water and electricity supply. The country runs its energy harness on both renewable and nonrenewable energy sources. This paper will review different groundwater pumping methods/ technologies looking at the South African context and find opportunities of using this set up to generate electricity. Therefore, different technologies will be analysed in terms of operation principle, cost, advantages, disadvantages and applicability. Furthermore, after the pumping infrastructure, different storage system as well as type equipment for the conversion of potential energy in water into electricity will be also presented.","PeriodicalId":331140,"journal":{"name":"2018 Open Innovations Conference (OI)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129882773","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The phase and microstructure after the sintering process was investigated. The relative density of ZrC ceramic pellets formed at 1700 °C, 1900 °C and 2100 °C was measured and found to be 96.5 %, 98.9 % and 99.5 % respectively. The grain size of ZrC ceramic pellets was calculated and it was found to increase from 71.88 nm, 79.15 nm and 83.59 nm as the sintering temperature increased from 1700 °C, 1900 °C to 2100 °C respectively. The hardness of ZrC ceramic pellets was found to be 7.40 GPa, 17.00 GPa to 18.40 GPa at 1700 °C, 1900 °C to 2100 °C respectively. The preferred orientation at 1700 °C, 1900 °C and 2100 °C was the (200) plane. Iridium (Ir) thin films were deposited on ZrC ceramics by electron beam deposition method and annealed in vacuum at temperatures of 600 °C and 800 °C for 2h. The phase composition, solid-state reactions and surface morphology were investigated by grazing incidence x-ray diffraction (GIXRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). XRD was used to identify the phases present in the as-deposited and annealed samples. XRD analysis showed that Ir2Zr was the initial phase formed at 600 °C. At temperature 800 °C, Ir reacted with the ZrC to form IrZr. The SEM images of as-sintered samples at 1700 °C, 1900 °C and 2100 °C showed that the ZrC surface was heterogeneous and uneven consisting of agglomerated granules with a few pores. The number of pores was observed to reduce with sintering temperature. After depositing Ir films on ZrC substrate, the structure of the Ir film followed that of the substrates. After annealing the Ir-ZrC samples at 600 °C and 800 °C, the further agglomeration of surface granules was observed.","PeriodicalId":331140,"journal":{"name":"2018 Open Innovations Conference (OI)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131740782","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the Industry 4.0 era, manufacturing systems are able to monitor physical processes and make smart decisions through real-time communication and cooperation with humans, machines, sensors, and so forth. Intelligent manufacturing is based on this concept of optimizing manufacturing by taking advantage of technological advances. Flexible manufacturing systems are a form of intelligent manufacturing. A Flexible Manufacturing System reacts to changes in the production process, this includes changes in the product and the production schedule. The problem is that a traditional Quality Management System cannot be used for a Flexible Manufacturing Systems because it cannot keep up with the changes in the FMS. The aim of the project is to design, construct and evaluate an Intelligent Quality Management System (QMS) which can learn, and adapt to the change of the flexible manufacturing system (FMS). It will be able to do this by designing hardware nodes that can be easily added to already implemented test systems that convey information back to an Intelligent Quality Management System that would learn the line lay out and setup with predefined training cycles. Thereafter it should run as a Quality Management System until the flexible system necessitates a retrain.","PeriodicalId":331140,"journal":{"name":"2018 Open Innovations Conference (OI)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116693126","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The mobile capability of ICT impacts on the performance of small and medium enterprises (SME). It has the advantage of providing corporate collaboration and interaction through the sharing of information. Nonetheless, these mobile resources cannot be the sole contributors to a company's competitive performance improvement. There is a need for strategic well-timed actions that can warrant a company's competitive advantage and actions to combine the existing resources in innovative ways. As stated earlier, mobile ICT has the capacity to transform businesses. One aspect of this transformation capacity is its dynamic capabilities (DC). In this study, the capability of mobile ICT to transform SME is analysed. The analysis is done using the Theory of Dynamic Capabilities. DCs refer to the specific ability of business to shape, reshape, configure and reconfigure resources in a response to changing technologies and markets to generate sustainable profits. This can be achieved through the adoption of new and innovative technologies. In this case the technology is the mobility capabilities of ICT. Participants from 40 SMEs were interviewed following Dynamic Capabilities Framework (DCF). The data was analysed to identify how the dynamic capabilities of mobile ICT can transform SMEs, and also to identify the best practices in which these capabilities can be developed and maintained.","PeriodicalId":331140,"journal":{"name":"2018 Open Innovations Conference (OI)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114484623","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We found that the structural and electronic properties changed both as a function of the dipole corrections and spin-orbit coupling (SOC). Comparing the calculated results with experimental values, we found that introducing SOC by itself in these 2D materials grossly underestimates the electronic band gap. Adding the self-consistent dipole correction results in larger electronic band gap for these tungsten dichalogenide compounds. Thus, the influence of dipole corrections in these 2D WX2 materials was found to be significant. The SOC are not relevant for these materials and care should be taken on application of these dipole corrections","PeriodicalId":331140,"journal":{"name":"2018 Open Innovations Conference (OI)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134609613","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Even though with the supposed capacity that e-learning provides, the bigger part of the e-learning approach in rural-based higher education institutions do not achieve their potential. This study focuses on identifying the perception and usage of e-learning which impact the adoption at rural based, higher education institutions. A conceptual framework was proposed using the UTAUT (Unified Theory of Acceptance Model) to identify the usage, perception and location challenges of e-learning. This study uses case-University of Venda towards a quantitative approach for data collection and analysis. The results indicated that students have a positive perception towards technology, however the main factor which influences e-learning adoption is the lack of institutional support from management and educators which is one of the underlying issues of e-learning adoption in rural-based HEIs.","PeriodicalId":331140,"journal":{"name":"2018 Open Innovations Conference (OI)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130011587","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The resulting atomic distribution and surface morphology were investigated by Rutherford backscattering spectrometry together with RUMP simulation and atomic force microscopy analysis techniques. The as-deposited was composed of W, O, Si and C atoms. The surface roughness of the As-deposited was about 0.4 nm with the kurtosis of about 2.44 nm indicated that the surface was relatively flat. The RUMP simulation results showed that after annealing at 800 °C, the vacuum and H2 annealed samples had two layers, while the Ar annealed samples had four layers. The formation of new layer(s) was a result of intermixing between W and SiC. AFM results indicated that Ar annealed samples had high surface roughness with large crystals than the vacuum and H2 annealed samples.","PeriodicalId":331140,"journal":{"name":"2018 Open Innovations Conference (OI)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130736886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
