The piezoelectric response PVDF stress gauges subjected to shock loading exhibits a reproducible behavior up to 25 GPa. Shock pressure profiles obtained with \"in situ\" PVDF gauges in high explosive in a detonation regime have been achieved. Observations of a fast superpressure of a few nanoseconds have raised the question of the loading path dependence of the PVDF response at high shock pressure levels. Consequently, studies of the piezoelectric behavior of PVDF gauges under impact loading using a two-stage light gas gun have been conducted. These results show that the PVDF response appears independent of the loading path up to 35 GPa. Furthermore, laser interferometry (VISAR) was used in some experiments to determine the particle velocity history of the PVDF gauge. The principle of the signal processing is studied and proper circuit is successfully designed and made to realize the signal processing. The feature of the signal processing circuit for the uncooled infrared focal plane array depends on the readout circuit.. Readout circuit discussed here is a RC oscillatory circuit. The resistor of the oscillatory circuit is VOx thin film, which is very sensitive to temperature. The relationship of the temperature and the period of the oscillatory circuit is discussed. The signal processing circuit employs the relationship to extract the temperature from the period of the output signal. The results indicated that (1) EPM and SA contents of RBC in each period after rat scalded were decreased significantly as compared with those of in control group. (2) In negative electret group, EPM and SA contents were increased markedly with time. (3) Positive electret showed no notable effect on EPM and SA contents of RBC after rats were scalded. We consider that the waveform and the pulse width of the ultrasonic is decided by the thickness of PVDF piezoelectric film transducer, the falling time of step-function voltage, the backing and the shape of acoustic propagation medium. The pulse generator is suitable to use for measuring the space charge distribution in solid dielectric, the width of pressure pulse is about 50 ns. It is also suitable for the other applications, e.g., the ultrasonic medical diagnosis. As thickness is decreased, dielectric anomaly rapidly diminishes whereas the dielectric relaxation associated with glass transition remains. The polarization switching transient splits into fast and slow processes. The slow process shows a particular shift toward longer time regions with decreasing thickness. These results were analyzed on the basis of a double layer model consisting of ferroelectric bulk and metal-polymer interface. It is shown that the metal-polymer interface is a 2 nm thick, non-ferroelectric layer with suppressed molecular motion. The PEA method was then used to measure the space charge density after bias voltage was applied, and how the distribution changed. In measuring the water content, the longer the polyimide film dried, the more water content was lost, with hardly any change seen after 12 hours or more. In the measurement of thermal properties, the longer the polyimide film dried, the more water content it lost and the smaller the peak of thermal absorption. For the volume of space charge formed, the longer the polyimide film dried, the more difficult it became to put an electric charge into the specimen while the direct-current bias voltage was applied. The dependence of electrical properties of the underfill on the polarizing temperature, polarizing field and heating rate were analyzed from the TSDC spectra as a function of temperature. A single /spl alpha/-relaxation peak associated with the glass transition temperature T/sub g/ of the underfill was observed. A value of Tg can be estimated which can be compared to the T/sub g/ determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Space charge density profiles were obtained for isothermal samples and samples containing a temperature gradient. Steady state current density was also measured as a function of temperature and field; it appeared to be largely controlled by charge injection at the electrodes.
