Materials and Methods: Study participants included 716 males and 624 females who had episodes of kidney disease during the period of 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2021 and attended the Department of Nephrology at the Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Kauno klinikos. Time varying magnetic field data was collected at the magnetometer site located in Lithuania. Results and Conclusions: The study results support the hypothesis that the Earth’s magnetic field has a relationship between the number of nephrology patient hospitalizations per week and the average weekly local Schumann resonances strength in different frequency ranges. Working hypotheses are proposed for the mechanisms of the influence of the Earth’s electromagnetic field on kidney function: а) quantum mechanical features of the atomic composition of renal tissue molecules determine a kidney-specific reaction; b) cyclotron resonance mechanism; c) resonant response of cells of morphological structures of kidney tissue to external bioactive frequencies in the range of 6-8 Hz; d) mechanism of indirect influence of blood as a magnetically saturated medium.","PeriodicalId":32964,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complexity in Health Sciences","volume":"33 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141107067","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The authors, based on modern biophysical fundamental knowledge about the structure and functioning of the human body at the micro level of its structure (nanolevel and deeper) and the concepts of the Magnetoelectrochemical theory of metabolism, developed the main ideological concepts of the scientific direction “Bioelectronic Medicine” as a component for the further development of complex medicine. General scientific methods and theoretical methods were used in this theoretical study. The result of this theoretical research was the extrapolation of modern biophysical fundamental data on the structure of the microcosm of matter to medical knowledge about humans. It is proposed to call the resulting scientific direction the term “Bioelectronic medicine”. A conceptualization of the obtained fundamental ideas was made, three basic concepts and seven main aspects of “Bioelectronic Medicine” were formulated.","PeriodicalId":32964,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complexity in Health Sciences","volume":"38 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139150437","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it is very time-consuming and laborious to conduct in vivo experiments on a large number of drugs to be screened one by one. This paper attempts to propose using machine learning algorithms to perform preliminary screening of a large number of compounds to be screened and their molecular structures to reduce the workload of in vivo experiments. Among them, it is internationally recognized that there is an important association between breast cancer progression and the alpha subtype of the estrogen receptor. Anti-breast cancer drug candidates with excellent efficacy need to contain compounds that can better antagonize ERα activity. In this paper, the research object is narrowed down from compounds to the molecular structure of the compounds, and then the random forest regression algorithm is used to develop the molecular structure-ERα activity prediction model. Molecular structures with significant effects on biological activity were screened from molecular structure descriptors in numerous compounds. Four different kernel functions were used to conduct comparative experiments, and finally a support vector regression algorithm based on radial basis kernel function was established, which realized the quantitative prediction of compounds on biological activity of ERα, and could find potential compounds beneficial to breast cancer treatment. This is a novel, computer-based method for preliminary drug screening, which can help medical researchers effectively narrow the scope of experiments and achieve more accurate optimization of drugs.","PeriodicalId":32964,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complexity in Health Sciences","volume":"33 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135773293","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This condition, caused primarily by unbalanced energy intake (overconsumption) and exacerbated by modern lifestyles such as physical inactivity and suboptimal dietary habits, is the harbinger of a variety of health disorders such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and certain cancers. Therefore, there is an urgent need to accurately diagnose and assess the extent of obesity in order to formulate and apply appropriate preventive measures and therapeutic interventions. However, the heterogeneous results of existing diagnostic techniques have triggered a fierce debate on the optimal approach to identifying and assessing obesity, thus complicating the search for a standard diagnostic and treatment method. This research primarily aims to use machine learning techniques to build a robust predictive model for identifying overweight or obese individuals. The proposed model, derived from a person's physical characteristics and dietary habits, was evaluated using a number of machine learning algorithms, including Multilayer Perceptron (MLP), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Fuzzy K-Nearest Neighbors (FuzzyNN), Fuzzy Unordered Rule Induction Algorithm (FURIA), Rough Sets (RS), Random Tree (RT), Random Forest (RF), Naive Bayes (NB), Logistic Regression (LR), and Decision Table (DT). Subsequently, the developed models were evaluated using a number of evaluation measures such as correlation coefficient, accuracy, kappa statistic, mean absolute error, and mean square error. The hyperparameters of the model were properly calibrated to improve accuracy. The study revealed that the random forest model (RF) had the highest accuracy of 95.78 %, closely followed by the logistic regression model (LR) with 95.22 %. Other algorithms also produced satisfactory accuracy results but could not compete with the RF and LR models. This study suggests that the pragmatic application of the model could help physicians identify overweight or obese individuals and thus accelerate the early detection, prevention, and treatment of obesity-related diseases.","PeriodicalId":32964,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complexity in Health Sciences","volume":"121 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135345551","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

General scientific methods and theoretical methods were used in this theoretical study. The main conclusions of the theoretical study were made as follows: 1) Тhe “30/11 helix” is the main most typical fragmentary element of water self-organization into fractal structures and it forms energy-intensive fractal crystalline filamentous water structures in living biological systems, supported by energy constantly coming from biopolymers, and forming large constantly growing hierarchical structures that unite all the water of a living organism in a dynamic balance of opposite processes of destruction and growth of its energy-intensive crystalline structures; 2) Water has a key role in the process of transmission and perception of the coherent energy of a soliton through self-organizing fractal energy-intensive paramagnetic crystalline structures in living biological systems; 3) The phenomenon of biological life at the micro level is characterized by the presence of a state of water binding/organization into energy-intensive crystalline structures due to the constant supply of coherent energy from biopolymers and stops when this energy flow disappears, which corresponds to the onset of the phenomenon of biological death and is manifested by the degradation of energy-intensive fractal crystalline self-organization of water to an unbound water state. solution devoid of so-called biological anomalies.","PeriodicalId":32964,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complexity in Health Sciences","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44915105","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An interdisciplinary team treating patients suffering from serious conditions should include physiotherapy. Additionally, physiotherapy is utilized to treat and prevent the side effects of extended immobility or sleep, as well as to improve respiratory function. The purpose is to improve residual functionality; to avoid new and repeated hospitalizations; to improve health and quality of life. Exercises for the entire body (including early in-bed cycling), specialized breathing exercises, chest mobilization, relief help, drainage postures, vibration, verticalization, and passive movements are all crucial components of COVID-19 physiotherapy. Our goal was to evaluate the changes of functional condition of patients with COVID-19 in the acute stage using different physiotherapy methods: complex measures against mono therapy. In the research, 28 subjects (15 men and 13 women) were involved. A total of 84 physiotherapy procedures were performed. In the first group, breathing exercises and chest wall oscillation were applied, in the second group – only chest wall oscillation. Respiratory physiotherapy (breathing exercises) plays an important role in reducing and preventing respiratory complications in COVID-19 patients treated at ICU. Early mobilization and chest wall oscillation are beneficial in COVID-19 patients. We note that we are the first to conduct an evidence-based study of physiotherapy in intensive care with COVID-19 patients. We hope that our pilot clinical trial gives opportunity to future researches.","PeriodicalId":32964,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complexity in Health Sciences","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47835197","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Gastrointestinal disorders (GID) affect psychological and physical health and can be impacted by stress and ability to self-regulate emotions. The aim of this study was to gain an in-depth understanding of individuals with GID experiences of a Heart Rate Variability biofeedback (HRV-BF) coherence intervention. Six patients, who had already been diagnosed with GID, were interviewed using a semi-structured interview schedule to investigate how engaging in an HRV-BF coherence intervention affected their levels of stress and their GID condition. All transcripts were explored using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Analysis of the accounts indicated four superordinate themes: (1) Autonomy, (2) Self-regulation, (3) Acceptance, (4) Mind-Body-Spirit. The field of HRV-BF interventions in the area of gastroenterology is promising. However, it is recommended that further studies involving psycho-physiological interventions, with mixed-method designs and larger samples, are undertaken.","PeriodicalId":32964,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complexity in Health Sciences","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44472896","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As emotional exhaustion is higher among representatives of this occupation in comparison to other highly emotionally challenging professions, it is important to help teachers gain necessary skills and tools in order to maintain good emotional and overall wellbeing, and effectively cope with daily stressors. The aim of the study described in this paper was to assess the impact of a 5-module emotional intelligence developing training program on teachers’ psycho-emotional health. Study sample consisted of 45 teachers, who took part in the study, filling in the research questionnaires before and after the completion of the designed training program. Participants were asked to subjectively rate their level of stress and other parameters, defining their subjective wellbeing. Results of the study revealed that after completing the training program, participants indicated a statistically significantly lower level of stress (p 0.01). Also, participants’ subjective evaluation of the quality of their social relationships and their overall wellbeing was significantly higher (p 0.01) after the training program completion.","PeriodicalId":32964,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Complexity in Health Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41521306","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
