There is no doubt that these resources would help in understanding the verses of the Holy Quran, clarifying its meaning, and specifying the right way of applying provisions of its recitation, especially for children where the audio visual effect of the multimedia resources would have a great impact on them. Ontology is the explicit formal specification of the terms in a domain and the relations between them. It has been used extensively for knowledge sharing, application integration, and the most for providing the capability of machines to understand and exchange web content. This paper addresses the possibility of using Ontology for linking the verses of the Holy Quran with the multimedia resources found on the web. The proposed system will provide the capability of dynamically searching the web for resources related to the verses of the Holy Quran based on common ontological terms.","PeriodicalId":328341,"journal":{"name":"2013 Taibah University International Conference on Advances in Information Technology for the Holy Quran and Its Sciences","volume":"118 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116369335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This service can be availed by both instructors and students through our online platform of Aalims. It is further divided into two modules. One is implemented for instructor where it conducts the lecture in front of Kinect, which is used for sensing gestures of instructor. These gestures along with voice are then broadcasted to all connected students using peer-topeer connection of WebRTC. Other module is at the students' end that is based on virtual board with Qur'an verses having some highlighted text. Instructor can remotely control highlighted text in front of student, just through his gestures and students only need to have WebRTC enabled browser to attend the lecture. However, instructor needs to have Kinect device installed for gesture recognition. Alternatively, instructor can also use keyboard navigational keys to control the highlighted text. We have also implemented both techniques of audio/video broadcast and audio/gestures broadcast for Qur'an e-learning and experiments proved that replacement of audio/video with audio/gestures consumes less network traffic. Hence we have replaced video streaming with audio plus gestures.","PeriodicalId":328341,"journal":{"name":"2013 Taibah University International Conference on Advances in Information Technology for the Holy Quran and Its Sciences","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128037967","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We used Arabic speech corpus of TV news clips. Then, we employed feature vectors, which embed the frame neighboring correlation information between adjacent phonemes to replace the traditional trip hones models. Next, we generated the phonemes codebooks using the K-means splitting algorithm. After that, we trained the generated codebooks using the LVQ algorithm. When using the trained LVQ codebooks in utterance phoneme transcription of an open vocabulary test corpus, the phoneme recognition rate was 72% without the use of any added phoneme big rams or HMM models. The results of this research if improved could be used to serve the holy Quran text transcription without any phonemes big rams (phonemes language model). This would increase the speed of the Quranic speech to text transcription and creates the infrastructure of suitable high speed automatic identification system of Quranic sounds recognition and translation.","PeriodicalId":328341,"journal":{"name":"2013 Taibah University International Conference on Advances in Information Technology for the Holy Quran and Its Sciences","volume":"272 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121235337","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One such service is providing live Qur'an recitation on these devices via Internet. Emergence of latest HTML5 standards has tremendously increased the power and capacity of the web based applications. Moreover, many of the features that were previously confined only to third party plug-ins are now natively available in web-browsers. We have used two HTML5 standards to facilitate broadcast of Qur'an recitation using native power of web-browsers. These two standards are WebSocket and WebRTC. The tradeoff between using WebSocket or WebRTC is that of server load vs. power consumption. For the same intention, an algorithm is developed to automatically switch between webRTC and WebSocket to ensure optimal battery consumption for portable devices. It also reduces the load at server by shifting broadcast to the browser in the presence of permanent power source or adequate availability of battery.We have compared our dynamic broadcasting algorithm with simple broadcast using WebRTC and have proved that our dynamic algorithm helps to reduce the server load and also helps in maintaining battery for longer time intervals.","PeriodicalId":328341,"journal":{"name":"2013 Taibah University International Conference on Advances in Information Technology for the Holy Quran and Its Sciences","volume":"64 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116021319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The use of this book is very frequent either for reading, for memorization or for the search of a verse of Quran dealing with a particular subject. Muslims find difficulties in the use of this book in his audio format and especially in the search for a verse. For this, and to help Muslims, we focus our work on the problem of finding a verse in the holy Quran. The search will be in voice mode where the user dictates a verse into microphone. The goal is to receive the verse dictated by user from the microphone and compare it with all verses of holy Quran. It returns then the closest verse to the desired one. This goal requires a great work which will be proposed as a doctoral subject. In this paper we propose to acquire the query by playing a verse of the database and to capture it by microphone. This paper presents a new system that identifies an audio subsequence (requested verse of Holy Quran) using basic audio descriptors. Each audio document of corpus (all verses of Holy Quran) is pre-processed before the extraction of a set of basic audio descriptors, which characterize the temporal and the spectral information. Therefore, an audio signal is represented by a sequence of characteristics called in this paper \"audio fingerprint\". The search process is based on a new concept called \"interference wave\". This wave is generated from the content of audio signals, and used to calculate the similarity rate between two audio signals.","PeriodicalId":328341,"journal":{"name":"2013 Taibah University International Conference on Advances in Information Technology for the Holy Quran and Its Sciences","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126226967","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, with the trend of communicating through social networking applications and social networking sites, Muslims tend to share the image of verse from the Quran applications to the sites. Several concerns regarding security and copy control of the verse text image have aroused, and among the solution to this issue is watermarking. This paper has conducted a research proposing an authentication fragile watermark with spiral manner which shows a good numbering system of embedding. The watermarking scheme is imperceptible and can embed high capacity of data. The average Peak-signal-of-Noise-Ratio (PSNR) value of embedded image is 67.06dB and the average operating time is 1.29 seconds. Subsequently, it proposed a localization and restoration watermarking scheme to be applied in the Quran application as a function before sharing.","PeriodicalId":328341,"journal":{"name":"2013 Taibah University International Conference on Advances in Information Technology for the Holy Quran and Its Sciences","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132237847","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One free and open-source CMS that facilitates learning anytime anywhere is the Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment (MOODLE). MOODLE's users can write new features, fix bugs, and improve its performance. It is built on a sound educational philosophy, and has a huge community that supports and develops it. Moreover, it has the ability to create a multilanguage content as it can support more than 70 languages, hence students from different countries.
