Designing an appropriate size of battery energy storage system of any harbour grid require precise data of power consumption as well future planned load. This paper presents a practical approach where a charge/discharge strategy is applied in such a way that peak-load demand of harbour grid is shaved off by discharging the battery during peak demand load and charging it during off-peak load demand. A suitable battery energy storage system along with its control algorithm is designed for Vaasa harbour grid with the obtained real data of annual power consumption and available power resources. Vaasa harbour grid model is developed in MATLAB/Simulink and a control algorithm is developed for the power flow to and from battery energy storage system by charging and discharging through bi-directional dc-dc converter. The results show that battery energy storage system is a suitable solution for harbour grids to cope with growing demand of new electric ships optimally in harbour grid without extensive renovation of the power supply infrastructure.","PeriodicalId":328338,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2021 - 19th International Conference on Smart Technologies","volume":"217 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122062239","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Neighborhood-based CF uses a similarity measure to identity neighbors of an active user, and these neighbors play an essential role in the personalized recommendation. Recently introduced new heuristic similarity measure (NHSM) based CF is found to be performing well compared to the CF approaches, which use traditional measures like Pearson correlation coefficient (PCC), proximity impact popularity (PIP), etc. However, NHSM is not appropriately normalized, and it may mislead in finding neighbors in specific scenarios. In this paper, we propose an improved NHSM similarity measure to excel in the recommendation by overcoming the shortfall of NHSM. We propose to utilize hyperbolic trigonometric function for the normalization of each component of NHSM. Relative difference (RD) is exploited to address the misleading problem of NSHM. Experimental results demonstrate that our improved NHSM (i-NHSM) based CF outperforms NHSM based CF.","PeriodicalId":328338,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2021 - 19th International Conference on Smart Technologies","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122543483","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is primarily due to the widespread introduction of virtual methods of telemedicine visual diagnostics according to the criteria of evidence-based medicine. An important task, in this case, is the choice of informative parameters of diagnostics and control, as well as criteria by which the discriminant capabilities of the methods will be compared. The authors have carried out research into the possibility of improving the quality of telemedicine diagnostics, using an integrated approach to studying the significance of the measured parameters and justifying the feasibility of their use in the diagnosis of specific pathologies. In this paper, the authors considered the effectiveness of this technique on the example of atopic dermatitis diagnosis.","PeriodicalId":328338,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2021 - 19th International Conference on Smart Technologies","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121145192","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The analysis of the factors influencing the reliability of detection of the laser spot and the accuracy of determining its centroid is carried out. Based on the analysis, an algorithm for positioning the laser spot through a 2-stage binarization of the image was developed. At the 1st stage, a fragment with a laser spot is highlighted, at the 2nd stage, the centroid of the spot is determined. Experimental studies have been carried out to determine the optimal binarization thresholds. The reliability of the laser spot detection according to the developed algorithm is 99.9%, which is higher than the indicators for the existing models of laser shooting ranges (95%). Good interpretability of the algorithm allows you to explain hit inaccuracies caused by random factors in order to eliminate them. The performance of the algorithm is high due to its maximum possible simplicity and the minimum number of iterations. The program processes a frame when shooting video at a rate of 25 frames per second. The accuracy of determining the centroid coordinates according to the proposed algorithm is within 0.5 pixels at a photosensor resolution of 1280 * 720. This figure is consistent with the accuracy of other approaches to positioning a laser spot on a raster image","PeriodicalId":328338,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2021 - 19th International Conference on Smart Technologies","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117233257","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main issue of such modelling is determining the proper time intervals, a.k.a. window size, for each member of network. In this work, we propose a new network similarity based compression ratio for measuring the properness of studied window size. Besides, we show that a more informative dynamic network with a less noisier structure can be extracted by using a window aggregation strategy. The results on Enron, Haggle Infocom and Reality Mining data sets reveal that the proposed compression ratio is more effective for finding best window size than baseline and aggregation strategy allows to capture important time-dependent events which might be hidden in noise when using constant windows.","PeriodicalId":328338,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2021 - 19th International Conference on Smart Technologies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129663679","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By removing unnecessary and duplicated information, this approach decreases the dimensional of the streaming features, so developing a feature selection algorithm on large observational data is an important problem. Various algorithms have been proposed to handle this problem but most of the approaches did not consider the implications of multivariate problem.To overcome the limitations of multivariate problem, this paper presents a novel algorithm for feature selection in electroencephalography (EEG) signals called Kernel Online Streaming Feature Selection (KOSFS) which uses the kernel based conditional dependence to define the Markov blanket to accommodate the multivariate situation. The cost of mixing was also evaluated here in terms of pressure drop and input power required to transport the fluid through the channel. The passive micromixer models were characterized by a constant hydraulic diameter of 200 μm, with the height H and pitch Pi of the microchannel modified at the values from 0.6 to 1 mm and 1.2 to 2 mm, respectively, maintaining a constant Pi/H ratio of 2. At Re = 2, Re = 10 and Re =30, the mixing efficiency for the model with Pi = 2 mm and H = 1 mm was 1.27, 1.1 and 1.26 times the mixing indexes of the model with Pi = 1.2 mm and H = 0.6 mm, respectively. This enhanced mixing quality was obtained with the sacrifice of a lower mixing index to pressure drop ratio (1.18, 1.32 and 1.13 times lower) and a higher mixing cost in terms of input power (1.18, 1.49 and 1.15 times higher).","PeriodicalId":328338,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2021 - 19th International Conference on Smart Technologies","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124697480","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most content providers have opted for direct distribution using Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) even though low-cost delivery can be achieved using peer-to-peer (P2P) architectures. This paper presents a hybrid CDN-P2P architecture which consists of a tree-mesh P2P overlay structure to reduce the work load on the CDN. HTTP/2 is used to make use of the server push functionality to further reduce the delay and adaptive streaming is provided by using MPEG-DASH. The performance of the CDN-P2P model was evaluated, resulting in greatly reduced CDN bandwidth consumption when compared with the client-server model. Furthermore, a lower end-to-end delay (EED) was recorded when the proposed architecture was compared with two similar overlays.","PeriodicalId":328338,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2021 - 19th International Conference on Smart Technologies","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131727593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The DRA is designed in conjunction with a superstrate, placed over a substrate material of RT/Duroid 5880, which is characterized by a relative permittivity equal to 2.2, a tangent loss of 0.0009, and a compact size with an overall dimension of 12 mm × 11 mm × 0.25 mm. This antenna achieved the quad bands for wireless communication, i.e., it resonates at four different frequencies 28 GHz, 34 GHz, 38 GHz, and 42 GHz with a gain of 6.92 dBi, 7.4 dBi, 8.59 dBi, and 7.57 dBi, respectively. The proposed antenna is designed in Computer Simulation Technology (CST) software. From the simulations and experimental results, it is proved that the proposed structure enables stable radiation characteristics with enhanced gain, wider bandwidth and higher impedance matching, achieved at all the resonant frequencies, compared to the prior antenna designs. The overall efficiency for this proposed DRA is more than 80%.
