The sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems play a powerful role in controlling cardiac function by activating adrenergic and muscarinic receptors. In the human heart, there exist α1, β1, and β2- adrenoceptors and M2-muscarinic receptors and possibly also (prejunctional) α2-adrenoceptors. The human heart has a very uniform distribution of β1 and β2-adrenoceptors and a heterogeneous distribution of M2-receptors (more receptors in the atria than the ventricles). Heart rate and contraction force increase whenever β1 and β2-adrenoceptors are stimulated, while heart rate and contraction force fall when M2 receptors are stimulated (directly in the atria and indirectly in the ventricles). The distribution of β1 and β2-adrenoceptors in the human heart can be changed by pathological conditions (like heart failure) or pharmacological interventions (like -blocker medication), nevertheless, M2-receptors are much less influenced. The intricate relationships between these receptor systems offer possible cardiovascular disease therapy strategies. More research must be conducted, focused on the complex control mechanisms that regulate cardiac function and pathology, to fully comprehend the subtleties of these signalling pathways and how they affect heart health.","PeriodicalId":328128,"journal":{"name":"EAS Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology","volume":"110 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141017416","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Inflammation, particularly in disorders like inflammatory bowel diseases, increases the risk of colorectal cancer, with environmental factors playing a crucial role. The majority of adenocarcinomas typically develop from the epithelial cells that line the colon and rectum as a result of a complex series of genetic and epigenetic modifications. Benign precursor lesions such as adenomatous polyps trigger the slow progression of CRC over a period of ten years or longer. Its etiology is influenced by sporadic, familial, and hereditary forms; prominent hereditary syndromes include Lynch syndrome and familial adenomatous polyposis. Chromosome instability and microsatellite instability are the two main tumorigenic pathways that underpin the pathophysiology of CRC, exhibiting regional differences in the global epidemiology. Approaches: TNM classification is the basis for diagnosis, and various treatment modalities, such as surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and gene therapy, are employed during treatment. Surgical treatments, from minimally invasive procedures to colectomy, are essential and highlight the importance of total excision of the mesocolic region. The standard therapeutic approach consists of chemotherapy and targeted agents; however, newer like gene therapy and immunotherapy show promise. In order to improve outcomes and lessen the burden of the disease, combating CRC requires comprehensive strategies that include early detection, prevention, and innovative therapeutic interventions.","PeriodicalId":328128,"journal":{"name":"EAS Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology","volume":"18 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141018733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most scientists believe that around two-thirds of the plants in the world have medicinal value and good antioxidant activity. The goal of this work was to estimate antioxidant activities of plant extracts, collected from Chattogram Hill Tracts, Chattogram. Different types of Plant leaves were extracted with different solvents like water, ethanol, methanol, and Pet ether. These extracts were then tested to see if they have any antioxidant properties using a method called DPPH radical scavenging. The present study found that all plant extracts exhibited remarkable antioxidant activity among them water extract of plants had the highest level of antioxidants followed by ethanol followed by methanol then Petroleum ether extracts. The high antioxidant activity of these might be due to the presence of hydroxyl groups containing substance in polar solvent extract and these hydroxyl groups can damage free radicals and possess the necessary resources for radical scavenging. This study confirms that many plant extracts have very strong antioxidant activity, which can help treat diseases caused by free radicals in the body.","PeriodicalId":328128,"journal":{"name":"EAS Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology","volume":"36 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140458257","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Biosensing and molecular imaging assisted with nanotechnology helps in identifying and diagnosis of many diseases. These nanomaterials also helps in the targeted drug delivery to the specific region. The existence of nanomaterials have become increased over the period of 40 years. Nanoparticles helps in the diagnosis of several diseases especially detection of cancer biomarkers. This technology also has a greater ability in the management of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, autoimmune diseases, skin diseases, renal diseases, tuberculosis and cancer. It also extended its application to targeted drug delivery, diagnosis and pharmacogenetics to individualize the treatment options for several diseases and disorder. Apart from this, nanoparticles also showed more efficiency for antimicrobial, antifungal and antiviral therapies. Nanotechnology has greater applications in the medical and pharmaceutical field due to its unique characteristics. Due to their smaller size, these nanomaterials have the ability to penetrate deeper into the biological tissues or skin and can elicit their therapeutic activities. Nanotechnology extended its application in the recent pandemic COVID-19 by the production of vaccines using lipid nanoparticles and also conquered the difficulties faced by the normal drug delivery systems. In this article, we can discuss about the various types and applications of nanotechnology.","PeriodicalId":328128,"journal":{"name":"EAS Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology","volume":"141 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122379012","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pseudomanas aeruginosa colonizes in the intensive care units (ICU’s) of the hospitals and is the reason behind health care associated infections. Pseudomonas infection further increases the chances of morbidity and mortality in the patients. In this study we explored the antimicrobial nature of Holarrhena pubescens also known as Kurchi on the MDR strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The antimicrobial nature of extract of the leaves of Kurchi was studied by Micro dilution test and then minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) value was calculated by serial dilution in Mueller Hinton Broth. The ethanolic extract showed antimicrobial property with MIC value of 6.25mg/ml in case of MDR strain of Pseudomonas. Further synergy test was done using the antibiotics Meropenem and Polymyxin B to check if the ethanolic extract of the leaves could increase the inhibitory property of these antibiotics against the infection caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It was found that there was slight increase in the efficacy of the antibiotics against the MDR strain when it was combined with the ethanolic leaf exteact of Holarrhena pubescens. Thus this antimicrobial nature of Holarrhena pubescens can be further used in the field of pharmacy to develop more efficient drugs agains MDR strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.","PeriodicalId":328128,"journal":{"name":"EAS Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122465750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, studying medicine is even more challenging – the study is six years long, and it is tough to remember more information. The study changed the social life of students, and the students didn't have enough time to relax. The examinations of students are full of stress. Stress harms health, especially in the gastrointestinal tract (autonomic nervous system). Aims: The first study evaluated eating habits during and outside an examination period and the effect on the health of medical students in Slovakia. Methods: We made the questionnaire and distributed it online to medical students at the Faculty of Medicine in Bratislava, Slovakia. A total of 587 students from the 1st to 6th year completed self-report measures of BMI, academic stress, eating habits and the occurrence or development of digestive problems during the study. Results: Our results showed that most respondents were of average range weight and ate a well-balanced diet (90%); more than half of the participants had breakfast regularly, and almost half of the students ate junk food a few times per week. Our participants consumed less food but more junk food and energy drinks during the exam period, which can cause obesity and digestive problems. Conclusion: Our findings confirm that subjective academic feelings of stress play an important role in eating habit changes and in the origin of digestive disorders in our medical students.","PeriodicalId":328128,"journal":{"name":"EAS Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123522021","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
