These gases contributeto the greenhouse effect, and in addition jeopardizes its productive capacity. From the voltage (output) and current(input) signals and based on Systems Identification Theory, the ARX models of the electrolytic smelter pot are built torepresent the steady state operation and the anode effect occurrence. After the simulations based on real anode effectsignal and algebraic properties of the transfer functions some models are validated based on the time response speed ofconvergence. The selected transfer functions of the electrolytic smelter pot are used to perform the steady staterepresentation and are oriented to predict the anode effect by the increasing of voltage. Therefore, this paper showsour latest investigation on parametric ARX models that represent the behavior of the plant in the neighborhood of itsinstability operation point.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"267 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133761354","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is a simple and effective tech-nique, which is based on developing the activity table. Business process modelling is done by identifying the business processes and is continued by defining work processes and activities of each chosen business process. This technique is independent on the analyst and his/her experience. It requires that each identified activity must be connected to its resource and its successor activity and in this manner contribute a great deal in developing a process model, which represents a true reflection to actual business process. The problems of conducting a surgery and sales claim are used as examples to test our technique.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"190 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131956664","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The goal is to minimize the total cost of the whole supply chain. This includes cost of production, cost of freight, cost of preservation, cost of early or late delivery, and cost of perished goods. The first model, for the purpose of simplification, has been developed with the assumption that all goods are delivered to the customers prior to their expiry date and hence there are no perished items. To develop a more realistic model, the second model includes cost of perished goods and considers cases where some of the goods are expired prior to delivery to customer. The third model, developed to improve the second model even further, considers cases where close-to-expiry items are sold at a cheaper price. Genetic Algorithm and CPLEX are used to solve and validate the models.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116675155","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, a problem ariseswith the current firing procedure when neither theField Observer nor the Fire Direction Center isavailable to support the artillery crew with thenecessary information. In this situation, the detectionof environmental conditions would involve a number ofuncertainties and due to this reason, conventionalcontrol techniques will not deliver satisfying solutionssince the adjustment to the artillery’s firing line will bebased on data that is approximate rather than precise.In this paper, we propose a firing angle control systembased on the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model. Theadvantage of fuzzy logic is the ability to tune certainvariables easily by varying the linguistic rules or inputvariables. Experiments show that effective results canbe obtained using a fuzzy model, while demonstratingthat the model could come in handy when the firingangle has to be determined instantaneously with veryvague information about the target.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131138777","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fourier Transform of a unit rectangular pulse, whose width is a random variable with Gaussian distribution, is used to derive the probability density function (p.d.f.) in the frequency domain. Result of the mathematical derivation is an exponential mathematical function involving an infinite summation over all integers. The projection theorem is used to arrive at the exact probability density function. To verify this experimentally, a randomly generated sample of Gaussian numbers, representing the pulse width is mapped onto the frequency domain, and the resulting points have a certain probability distribution, which matches with the theoretically proposed function.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130997486","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The pot is fed every two hours with a fix amount of alumina and the actual feed adjustment is done in a manual daily basis. By moving to remote computers, the mobile agent processes data there and hence saves remote communications and local computation.Many mobile-agent platforms have been developed. Recently, attempts have been made by the author to evaluate the differences in the affects on adjacent beaches for the 2004 tsunami, arising from the orientation and other features for each beach. Consequently, it is now feasible to consider more specific and relevant actions for improving survival and reduction in damage for each beach, based on pre-event simulations of possible future tsunami arising from specific physical source locations, predicted wave height, speed and direction.This paper considers such an approach and its possible advantages for beaches in Phuket, Thailand and consequent possibilities for future tsunami in other Indian Ocean locations and in other seas, such as the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127801621","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
