In this paper, a sound approach for a Twin Rotor Multi-input Multi-Output System (TRMS) parametric modeling is proposed based on dynamic spread factor particle swarm optimization. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is demonstrated as an efficient global search method for nonlinear complex systems without any a priory knowledge of the system structure. The proposed method formulates a modified inertia weight algorithm by using a dynamic spread factor (SF). The inertia weight plays an important role in terms of balancing both the global and local search. Thus, the usage of dynamic SF is proved experimentally to satisfy main issues of using basic PSO that are trapped in local optima and preservation of diversity. Results in both time and frequency domains portray a very good parametric model that mimic well the behavior of a TRMS. Validation tests clearly show the effectiveness of the algorithm considered in this work.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"411 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124395045","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is significant in real time game environment. Even with the use of powerful graphics workstations, a moderately complex virtual environment can involve a vast amount of computation, inducing a noticeable lag into the system. This lag can detrimentally affect the visual effect and may therefore severely compromise the diffusion of the quality of graphics application. This paper introduced to overcome the limitation of conventional technique. Surface attributes such as normal, colors and textures, which are essentials to bring out the beauty of 3D object are preserved and discussed. The first process is to convert the input data into a memory efficient format. Next, the datasets are organized in an octree structure and later the partitioned meshes are kept in secondary memory (hard disk). Subsequently, sub-meshes are simplified using a new variation of vertex clustering technique. In order to maintain the surface attributes, a vertex clustering technique that collapses all triangles in every leaf node using the generalized quadric error metrics is introduced. Unlike any other vertex clustering methods, the knowledge of neighbourhood between nodes is unnecessary and the node simplification is performed independently. Overall, the proposed algorithm is capable in simplifying large datasets with pleasant quality and relatively fast. The system can run efficiently on low cost personal computer with small memory footprint.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116915982","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is established that the conventional direct torque controlled drive has more torque and flux ripples in steady state, which result in poor torque response, acoustic noise and incorrect speed estimations. Hysteresis controllers also make the switching frequency of voltage source inverter a variable quantity. A strategy of variable duty ratio control scheme is proposed to increase switching frequency, and adjust the width of hysteresis bands according to the switching frequency. This technique minimizes torque and current ripples, improves torque response, and reduces switching losses in spite of its simplicity. Simulation results establish the improved performance of the proposed direct torque control method compared to conventional methods.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"90 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125128790","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper familiarizes with problem of coexistence of different types of traffic, presents two queue management methods and shows simulation results of protocols performance when elastic and inelastic traffic is enqueued into separate queues. Three cases were considered. In first both queues have the same size and both use Tail Drop. In second, both use Tail Drop but have different sizes. In third, queues have the same size but use different queue management methods – Tail Drop for \"inelastic\" queue and RED for \"elastic\" queue. Simulations results shows that separation of traffic ensures that in time of congestion elastic flows won’t be throttled down by inelastic traffic. Use of RED gives better access to resources to inelastic traffic ensuring smaller number of lost packets.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114479738","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are totally 6 logical sensing switches that are used for acquiring the characters. The whole keyboard works based on Braille system. There are also five other specially used switches like SHIFT (Number Alphabet toggle button), SPACE, BACK SENSE, CAPS LOCK and SPEAK. This keyboard is a device made of logical switches and uses Braille system technique for sensing the characters. In this system, the sensors are aligned according to the Braille language i.e. alphabets or numeric/special characters. The main advantage of this project is that the visually impaired do not need any training since most of them are already specialized in Braille language. This keyboard is interfaced with a computer in a similar way to that of the primary keyboards that are available.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129763818","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The predictions were compared with the results of a computer simulation, using both Poisson and batch-Pareto (ON/OFF) cross-traffic arrival mechanisms. The model accurately predicted the simulated behaviour under Poisson traffic, though it showed a slight but consistent tendency to under-predict the standard deviation. For the scenarios reported, the Pareto results also showed reasonably close agreement with the model, though without the tendency towards under-prediction.","PeriodicalId":327522,"journal":{"name":"2009 11th International Conference on Computer Modelling and Simulation","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128315261","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
