Under this social context, The Devil Wears Prada, a film based on the novel of the same name, premiered. This paper analyzes the feminist and non-feminist themes in the film. After analysis of the script, cinematography, and story plot, this research discovers that the film reflects on feminist themes the fashion industry as a non-patriarchal industry, less gendered use of language, and fashion as empowerment - and efficiently reveals societal expectations of women to maintain a balance between life and career. However, the film also imposes stereotypes and objectification towards women, as demonstrated in the fashion industrys strict rules for body image and gazes from male characters to Andrea. The issues identified in this film, such as strict body image for women, still exist in contemporary society, and more research can be done to try to address this problem.","PeriodicalId":326480,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Humanities Research","volume":"8 31","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140652413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Issues such as urban renewal, preservation of historical heritage, and relocation of residents have become crucial factors constraining sustainable urban development. Addressing these issues not only concerns the appearance and function of cities but also involves the inheritance of social and cultural values and the quality of life for urban residents. This article delves into the current status, challenges, and future directions of the transformation of China's old cities. Research indicates that while there have been some advancements in the revitalization of old cities in recent years, a series of complex and urgent challenges persist. In terms of historical heritage preservation, the main issues include inadequate policy safeguards, insufficient funding, and low societal participation. Urban renewal grapples with conflicts between historical preservation and development needs, balancing costs and benefits, and challenges related to resident relocation and social stability. Looking ahead, it is recommended to strengthen policy and regulations, diversify funding sources, and enhance societal participation. Regarding urban renewal, efforts should be made to strike a balance between preserving historical heritage and meeting development demands, emphasize cost-benefit evaluations, and formulate humane relocation policies. Future development directions encompass enhancing planning and design, promoting participation from social organizations and residents, fostering technological innovation and sustainable development, and strengthening oversight and evaluations.","PeriodicalId":326480,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Humanities Research","volume":"7 13","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140652722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the past decade, the female image in Chinese crime films has changed and achieved obvious breakthroughs. The single portrayal of female characters in crime movies has changed, and strong, independent, and even vicious female characters are created while the stereotype of \"weak\" is discarded. In addition, as an essential existence, these female characters assume the role of driving the plot forward and reversing its direction. This paper analyze the portrayal of female images in Chinese crime films shot or released in 2013 to 2023, and on the basis of analysis, explores and discovers the mode of transformation of females roles, shortcomings and future direction. Adopting the case studies and theoretical analysis, this paper analyzes different female characters in the movie, and discusses the type of contemporary female roles and the social meanings and connotations they imply. Moreover, it uses the comparative argumentation and historical analysis to compare female roles at home and abroad and different years, so as to achieve a revelation of the future female characterization in film.","PeriodicalId":326480,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Humanities Research","volume":"1 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140653069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It contrasts the traditional review methods commonly employed in the classroom with innovative, visual learning strategies, specifically focusing on the use of concept maps. Through a carefully structured quasi- experimental design, the research was conducted across two parallel classes, enabling a controlled comparison between traditional teaching methodologies and the concept mapping approach. The primary aim was to assess the impact of concept mapping on students' academic performance, particularly in areas such as vocabulary acquisition, grammar understanding, and text comprehension skills. Additionally, the study sought to evaluate how concept mapping influences student engagement and enthusiasm for learning English. The findings from this research are quite revealing, demonstrating that students exposed to concept mapping showed significant improvements not only in their academic performance but also in their overall engagement with the learning material. These improvements were observed across multiple dimensions of language learning, including enhanced vocabulary retention, a deeper understanding of grammatical structures, and improved ability to comprehend and analyze texts. Such outcomes suggest that concept mapping, as a visual learning tool, can play a transformative role in educational practices, especially in the context of language learning. By leveraging the visual and interactive nature of concept maps, educators can create more dynamic and effective review sessions. This approach not only facilitates a deeper understanding of the material but also promotes greater retention of the English language among junior middle school students. The study underscores the potential of integrating visual learning strategies into traditional educational paradigms, offering a compelling case for the adoption of concept mapping as a standard practice in English language teaching and learning.","PeriodicalId":326480,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Humanities Research","volume":"11 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140652512","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Contemporary evidence challenges this notion, positing that language, an acquired experiential factor, coherently and systematically augments these two capabilities. Specifically, language encoding and verbalization shift abstract reasoning from a primarily habitual process to a state that is distinctly more abstract and analytical. In parallel, relational language descriptors (e.g., above, below) aid in transitioning spatial rotational ability from a primarily imaginative domain to an abstract, analytical one. While previous studies have shown languages influence on discrete faculties in spatial intelligence separately, a comprehensive understanding of its systematic enhancement remains elusive. This paper attempts to bridge this gap, proposing that IQ determinants are not innate. Moreover, this paper shows that language uniformly and methodically enhances all facets of spatial intelligence through the same medium (transformation to an abstract-analytical task space) and that this task space proves more productive than its imaginative or habitual counterparts.","PeriodicalId":326480,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Humanities Research","volume":"9 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140652807","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
