Vasileva","doi":"10.34216/1998-0817-2023-29-4-98-103","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.34216/1998-0817-2023-29-4-98-103","url":null,"abstract":"The article offers an interpretation of Stephen Edwin King’s novel ‘Salem’s Lot (1975) in the context of how its author productively works with the elements of the ‟vampire myth” created and developed by British gothic writers of the 19th century (John William Polidori, Joseph Thomas Sheridan Le Fanu, Bram Stoker, etc.). The principal of these mythologems (“the depravity of the century, condensed in the figure of a vampire”; “the foreign origin of a vampire, which emphasises its otherness”; “the aristocracy of a vampire”) are successfully adapted by King in accordance with his artistic objectives, which allows the writer to include his text in a rich literary tradition, while preserving the opportunity to express his own creativity. The traditional idea of artistic time as a sequence of events flowing from the past into the present and future is interpreted from the point of view of the concept of linear and monumental time. Ireland’s legendary and historical past are intertwined and expressed in the present through the images of the bog, the treasure, the Englishman and the Irish peasant woman. The monumental past is associated with the uneasy relationship between Great Britain and Ireland at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries and the attempt of the author of the novel to metaphorically resolve the contradictions through the marriage of an Englishman and an Irish woman. Linear time is expressed in the image of an Englishman, the development of his relationships with the inhabitants of an Irish village, the engineering study of a bog, and the transformation of a poor Irish village into a prosperous region. The purpose of the study is to determine the functional status of emotives of different levels of text affiliation. The priority research methods are the methods of textual analysis and philological interpretation, which allows us to consider a literary text, including outside the explication of the author’s assessment, as the realization of important value meanings of the character and the author, which have an emotional impact on the reader. During the analysis of the text of the story by A.P. Chekhov’s ‟The Black Monk” it was revealed that the functional status of emotive dominants is generally limited by the functions of the character’s emotional assessment and the pragmatic impact of emotive meanings on the reader. Textual emotiveness is capable of representing not only the momentary states of the characters associated with one or another episode of plot action. The author deliberately saturates the description of such situations with emotive markers, which correlate the emotional and spiritual experience of the reader and the character, which helps to activate the recipient’s memories and a new experience of the events described in the literary text. Implicity of emotive meanings in the story by A.P. Chekhov’s ‟The Black Monk” allows us to focus the reader’s attention on the value meanings of the text, which are only indirectly determined in their formation by external plot events. Vinogradov","doi":"10.34216/1998-0817-2023-29-4-7-14","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.34216/1998-0817-2023-29-4-7-14","url":null,"abstract":"Medieval cruciform pendants of this “Scandinavian” type are associated with the Norse hird culture; however, as material finds from various regions accumulated, most researchers were inclined to believe that this phenomenon originated in Old Rus’, if not in even more southern realms. At the same time, the connection of problems of this type with Eastern Christian ancient doubts, since ancient artifacts of Byzantine types are quite far from the ‟Scandinavian” ones. It is suggested that the Western Sarmatian type crosses served as the prototype of the remaining crosses, which arose with the solar or plant sacred world of the ancient nomads rather than with the Christian cult. The subsequent appearance of pendants of the ‟Scandinavian” type, first among the Merovingian antiquities, complements the ideas of the Germanic-Sarmatian cultural symbiosis known to archaeologists. Importance and attention is paid to solving the issues of providing them with metal, fuel, electricity, chemicals and other materials. The enterprises were required not only to produce, but also to fully ship the specified products to the equipment factories. Thanks to well-coordinated management and production cooperation, despite numerous problems, most of the factories and factories of the People’s Commissariat not only steadily fulfilled, but also significantly exceeded production tasks. The article presents the monthly dynamics of the implementation of the ammunition production plan, which was generally positive. Its receipt became possible as a result of the analysis of the orders of the People’s Commissariat stored in the fund No. 1689 of the State Archive of Ivanovo Region, introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. Examined in chronological order, they allow us to get an idea of the growing needs of the acting army in ammunition and gunpowder during and in anticipation of the key battles of the East Front of World War II. Categorical demands from the People’s Commissariat to the heads of the main departments and directors of enterprises about the need for unconditional fulfillment of the established plans complement it emotionally. As one of the variants of the compositional and stylistic analysis of the poetic text, we have proposed the concept of a subject-spatial model – a conditional image of the concepts “subject” and “space”, which serves to determine the relationship between them and the specifics of their functioning in the author’s poetics. This article discusses the models functioning in the texts of Kirill Korchagin, Galina Rymbu, Nikita Safonov and Yevgeniya Suslova, the classification of models is considered on several grounds: the number of model elements, the specifics of the relations between them and the forms of interaction. It is noted that the models functioning in the texts of the authors studied are multi-basic, each of them has a set of different parameters characterising the relationship between the elements from different points of view, which allows us to consider the specifics of the subject-spatial organisation of the text as a complex structure that reveals the semantic and stylistic features of poetics. The article concludes that the interaction of concepts is based on diffusion and interference, meanwhile the semantics of the subject and space become more complicated – the authors approach their understanding from a philosophical and pragmatic point of view. The information reflected in the certificate was confidential. The 19th – the early 20th centuries’Russia lacked the unified state public register of information characterising the financial reliability of trade turnover participants. The author investigates publicly available sources of obtaining data on the creditworthiness of the counterparty, the pre-revolutionary period merchants and industrialists could use to make a decision on concluding a contract, including with the terms of a credit transaction. The publicly available information on the creditworthiness of clients in the Russian Empire is information collected and stored in reference offices on creditworthiness, provided by the latter in various formats to interested parties. The article examines the methods of providing entrepreneurs with information borrowed from foreign practice and used in Russian trade. An important source of acquiring information about creditworthiness was data obtained from mass media. At the same time, the risks of the reliability of this information were assumed by the person using this information. Particular attention is paid to the negative consequences of deprivation of an academic degree both for the person itself – for the former holder of an academic degree, and for other subjects participating in the process of defending the dissertation. Regulatory gaps in this area have been identified, as well as insufficient specificity of current legal regulations. The problematic issues of possible deprivation of Professor academic title of a scientific supervisor (scientific consultant) of a person deprived of an academic degree are identified. In this context, various solution options are considered. It is argued that if regulatory or local acts of an organisation establish requirements for having an academic degree (its specific level) to fill a certain position, and if a person fills this position on this basis only to be subsequently deprived of an academic degree, then at the same time it is deprived of the right to fill the corresponding position. The need to clarify the existing wording on the responsibility of opponents and the leading organisation that had given feedback on the dissertation of the person later deprived of the academic degree, is substantiated. It is noted that the current legal regulations do not make the level of adverse consequences dependent on the basis for deprivation of an academic degree, and they neither provide for the liability of subjects who had given a positive review of the dissertation abstract of the person who was subsequently deprived of the academic degree.
