The research method was based on the 24-hour observation of newborns for exposures to factors generating pain and traumatic touch. The research tools included scales for assessing pain expression — Neonatal/Infant Pain Scale (NIPS), CRIES, and an original questionnaire. \u0000Results \u0000On the first day of hospitalization, the study group was subjected to 541 nursing procedures exposing the newborns to touch and generating pain. On the 7th day of hospitalization, the number of the procedures was 388. The average intensity level of procedural pain on the 1st day of hospitalization was 4.1 points (NIPS) and 2.5 points (CRIES), while the 7th day of hospitalization was 4.0 points and 1.8 points, respectively. The highest average pain intensity was generated by venous blood sampling for diagnostic tests and peripheral vessel cannulation. \u0000Conclusions \u0000Preterm newborns with respiratory failure are exposed to a significant number of procedures and actions considered traumatic. Therefore, it is reasonable to use more than one pain assessment scale for more objective results.\u0000\u0000

Initially, it only offered M.A. studies; however B.A. degrees were introduced in 2003. Student self-assessment of their level of preparedness to embark on a career path upon completion of their studies, as well as their opinion on the degree to which specific education outcomes were achieved in their course of studies can be of high practical significance and can become a launchpad for the improvement and excellence of the quality of education at the faculty of Public Health. \u0000Aim of the study\u0000The purpose of the study was to compare opinions on achieving education outcomes and self-assessments of the perceived level of readiness to start a job of B.A. graduates at the Faculty of Public Health, Division of Health Sciences, Medical University of Warsaw. \u0000Material and methods\u0000The anonymous questionnaire consisted of two parts: 1. Students’ self-assessment of reaching the assumed education outcomes; 2. Students’ assessment of reaching the assumed education outcomes in the course of their studies. Each statement was assessed in a 5-point Likert scale. The studied population included 85 B.A. graduates (2015/16) (82 female, 3 males – 96% female). The mean age of students in the studied group was 23 ± 7.2 years.\u0000Results\u0000The most important result was the high degree of compliance identified between the students' self-assessments and the assessment of the level of education outcomes achieved in the course of their studies. \u0000Conclusions\u0000Graduate self-assessments and opinions on the level of achieving education outcomes during B.A. studies can help to modify the curriculum in question following the principles of evidence-based education. Indeed, this is the formula for calculating the volume of a sphere. However, almost all of the papers on this topic describe the shape of the prostate as a pyramid. As the true prostate shape is a rhombohedral regular tetrahedron with a median lobe, a more effective calculation method is needed. Aim of the study: This paper aims to develop a different approach for sonographic measurement of the prostate through mathematical models. Case report: We present a 74-year-old patient with HPH and median lobe hypertrophy. Conclusions: The classical method is insufficient for accurate measurement in patients with median lobe hypertrophy. In prostates with median lobes, the measurement should be calculated as the median lobe volume plus the spheric prostate volume.

In this study, we try to evaluate the real-life treatment approaches of medical, radiation, and surgical oncologists for neoadjuvant treatment of rectal cancers.\u0000Method\u0000\u0000The online survey form was established via Google Forms. The survey was taken voluntarily by medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, and general surgeons.\u0000Results\u0000\u0000One hundred eighty-three of the participants were medical oncologists while 36 were radiotherapists and 36 were surgeons. Most of the study population preferred long-course radiation therapy and chemotherapy which was consisting eighty-five percent. Two-thirds of the participants apply chemotherapies before operation. The most frequent chemotherapy cycles for the pre-operative setting were ‘three’ or ‘four-or-more’ with the percent of 27,8 and 25,1 respectively. Medical oncologists had a significantly higher tendency of offering chemotherapy between radiation therapy and surgery compared with the other groups. The optimal time of surgery was different between groups. There was no difference among groups between surgery and the ‘watch & wait’ strategy. A significant difference was observed between groups in offered neoadjuvant chemotherapy regimens.\u0000Conclusion\u0000\u0000In our study, we found the new pre-operative chemotherapy regimen with short-course radiotherapy was slowly adopted in current practice. Also, medical oncologists tend pre-operative chemotherapy compared with other groups. The optimal surgery time for patients receiving neoadjuvant treatment is still controversial.

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is an important health problem. Medical professionals should thus provide their patients with knowledge about the appropriate prevention and treatment of chronic diseases, including SUI. \u0000Aim of the study: This study compared the level of knowledge concerning the risk factors, prevention, and treatment of SUI in women between physiotherapy graduates at two different Universities with a focus on medicine (Med) and physical education (PE). \u0000Material and Methods: This study included final-year physiotherapy students (n=401). Respondents provided answers to open-ended questions used to measure their knowledge about SUI in women. \u0000Results: The complete and correct definition of SUI was provided by 64.4% of the students at University Med, and 56.3% of the students at University PE. Students at University Med, in comparison with the students at University PE, had a significantly higher awareness of the risk factors (86.4% vs. 69.4%), prevention methods (85.6% vs. 68.7%), and conservative (92.4% vs. 77.8%) as well as surgical treatment (28.0% vs 6.7%) of SUI in women (p<0.001). \u0000Conclusions: There is a need for greater emphasis on education about SUI in order to better prepare physiotherapy graduate students to provide optimal care to their female patients. Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common chronic diseases, and \u0000in recent years its prevalence has been systematically increasing. Untreated or ineffectively treated diabetes leads to the development of many complications. Among these that can significantly affect the quality of life is diabetic foot syndrome (DFS). Larvotherapy is a therapeutic method of treating wounds arising during the course of DFS. \u0000Aim of the study. The main objective of this study was to assess the level of knowledge \u0000of nursing and midwifery students on the treatment of DFS using Lucilia sericata larvae. \u0000Material and Methods. This study is a cross-sectional, observational study in which 202 nursing and midwifery students of Opole University were surveyed. The study was conducted online between June and November 2020, using a questionnaire developed by the authors.\u0000Results. The analysis showed considerable variation in the level of students' knowledge of treatment techniques for DFS. Those with the highest level of knowledge represented 39.15% (n=79), the average level of knowledge was represented by 28.2% (n=57), and the lowest level of knowledge was represented by 32.7% (n=66) of students. Regarding biosurgery in general, the highest level of knowledge about biosurgery was represented by 48.0% (n=97) of students. Nursing students had a higher level of knowledge than midwifery students regarding DFS treatment methods (p=0.001). There was no difference in the level of knowledge about biosurgery between nursing and midwifery students (p=0.503).\u0000Conclusions. The research presented in this study indicates that nursing and midwifery students have insufficient knowledge of DFS treatment methods and biosurgery. Nursing students are more likely than midwifery students to derive knowledge of DFS treatment methods from their studies and the literature. Education on treatment methods and techniques for DFS should be increased among students. Students' knowledge can be increased by classes in the course of their education and meetings with professionals.\u0000\u0000
