There are a few studies in Poland on gender differences in musculoskeletal\u0000pain among adult professional musicians.\u0000Aim of the study: This study aimed to assess and compare pain in Polish women and men who are professional\u0000musicians, as well as to analyze the relationships between the intensity and frequency of pain and the\u0000time spent playing each week and the experience of playing the instrument in years.\u0000Material and methods: Sixty professional musicians were examined (26 men and 34 women). Pain intensity\u0000was assessed using the visual analog scale (VAS). Participants reported the frequency of musculoskeletal\u0000system ailments, the location of the pain, the number of hours of playing the instrument per week, and the\u0000playing experience in years. In addition, body weight and height were measured and body mass index (BMI)\u0000was calculated.\u0000Results: Most of the participants (94% of women and 69% of men) reported pain in the musculoskeletal system\u0000(p=0.010). Women experienced significantly greater pain in the musculoskeletal system assessed using\u0000the VAS (p=0.036), and also declared pain significantly more often compared to men (p=0.002). Significant\u0000positive correlations were found between frequency of symptoms per week with the number of hours of playing\u0000per week (r=0.28), year of playing the instrument (r=0.38), and pain assessment on the VAS (r=0.57).\u0000Moreover, negative correlations were found between frequency of symptoms per week with body height\u0000(r=–0.45) and body mass (r=–0.36).\u0000Conclusions: Musculoskeletal disorders are very common among professional musicians, especially among\u0000women. In general, the greater the number of hours playing per week and the longer the history of playing,\u0000the greater the pain intensity. The subject of satisfaction with life (SWL) in women in the early\u0000postpartum period has been rarely addressed in the literature and requires up-to-date, thorough research.\u0000Aim of the study: The present study aimed to evaluate the level of SWL among women after delivery according\u0000to selected characteristics concerning the course of pregnancy and labor.\u0000Material and methods: The study included 128 females who after delivery were hospitalized at maternity\u0000units in Lublin, Poland. The participants were administered the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) and\u0000a questionnaire to collect data on the course of pregnancy and labor.\u0000Results: It was found that 88 (68.75%) women had a high level of life satisfaction after childbirth, 27 (21.09%)\u0000had an average level, and 13 (10.16%) had a low level. Among the analyzed variables, a marginally significant\u0000increase in SWL was found for women in the early postpartum period that experienced skin-to-skin contact\u0000with the newborn immediately after delivery (p=0.054). The treatment of this condition is not limited to the disease itself, but also involves eliminating the resultant scars. The most common treatments for acne and the associated scars are pharmacotherapy, cosmetic and physical therapy, and aesthetic medicine therapies. An alternative method for treating this condition may be massage, which, as a mechanical stimulus, may be effective at increasing scar mobility and reducing the pain experienced during movement.\u0000\u0000Aim of the study: The aim of this case study was to examine the effectiveness of massage for treating the scars resulting from keloid acne.\u0000\u0000Material and methods: Massage treatments were performed on a young man (32 years old) who, as a result of acne, had scars on the chest and back areas. Massage was performed twice a week for 3 weeks (6 treatments), and each session lasted 40 minutes. Before the therapy, the VAS scale was used to assess the perceived pain, and palpation was used to assess the consistency (hardness) of the post-acne lesions. Skin displacement was measured with the use of an innovative device allowing for determination of the angle of displacement of the superficial skin layer within the scar. A questionnaire was also used to assess well-being and quality of life. The measurements were repeated after each session and immediately after the end of the massage cycle.\u0000\u0000Results: After a series of massages, the experienced pain, as assessed by the VAS scale, was reduced from level 5 before therapy to level 1 after therapy. Skin mobility was also increased by the massage treatments, and the patient’s well-being and quality of life improved after each session. \u0000\u0000Conclusions: The presented case shows that massage can be used in the treatment of post-acne lesions. It is characterized by extrachorial placental development, resulting in a ring formation along the edges of the placenta, which leads to efficiency impairment. As a consequence, it causes an intrauterine fetal hypotrophy. The fetal hypotrophic pregnancies are classified as high-risk pregnancies, requiring not only intensive monitoring of fetal development but also maternal and fetal care by the highest reference clinical center. Aim of the study: The aim of this study was to analyze the case of a patient with circumvallate placenta and fetal hypotrophy suspicion. Material and methods: The study was based on the case study method. The data was obtained by analyzing medical documentation collected during hospitalization. The patient was interviewed and observed. All of the selected parameters were measured and scaled. Case study: A 30-year-old primiparous woman at 38+1 weeks gestation, with diagnosed circumvallate placenta and suspected fetal hypotrophy. The pregnancy had several complications, including gestational hypothyroidism. There was spotting and imminent abortion in the first trimester and in the second and third trimester, the patient was treated for vaginal mycosis. There was a risk of preterm labor in the third trimester. The patient was admitted to the delivery room in the first stage of labor. The course of first stage of labor was normal however the second stage of labor was complicated. Obstructed labor with ace presentation, mentoposterior position. A lower uterine segment cesarean section (LUSCS) was performed and a live full-term female infant was delivered, which was found to be small for gestational age (SGA). The course of the early puerperium was uncomplicated with an expected duration of stay in the neonatology department. Both mother and baby were discharged from hospital on postpartum day 3. Conclusions: Circumvallate placenta is not a contraindication to natural delivery however is associated with an increased risk of many perinatal complications. Holistic care during delivery and the early puerperium requires specialized knowledge and skills of medical staff in taking care of both of the mother and the child.

This is now possible, given advances in communication technologies allowing virtual connections of medical personnel with constituents, as well as necessary, in light of recent challenges posed by infectious conditions and growing needs for travel restrictions, social distancing, and isolation of large portions of populations. Moreover, the opportunity to virtually connect with persons through ubiquitous computer-based and handheld communication devices allows comprehensive care provision to include underserved areas, where restricted, walk-in access to brick-and-mortar establishments has long been recognized as a limiting factor in healthcare. This review examines evolving approaches of tele-healthcare, with a specific focus on telemedicine as a bridge between traditional, in-person approaches to diagnose and treat medical conditions and new healthcare opportunities developing to meet changing societal needs. The three purposes of the review are: discuss background information, with a brief look at policy and procedure guiding applications of tele-techniques in healthcare practices; identify relevant scientific studies to show the breadth of new evidence-based research for telemedicine practices; and, discuss challenges for the further development of telemedicine as healthcare systems in the United States evolve to meet current and projected healthcare needs.\u0000\u0000
