A distinct feature of the proposed transmission scheme is that coded symbols from adjacent codewords are interleaved into the same input vectors of the block modulator. At the receiver, we not only perform the iterative noncoherent demodulation and decoding algorithm, but also exchange extrinsic information between adjacent codewords due to the codeword interleaved structure. It is shown through the extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) chart that the resultant block demodulator and channel decoder can match well with each other, and can achieve a near-capacity performance.","PeriodicalId":325246,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122125604","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, joint optimization of the sensing time and the cooperative fusion scheme has been studied before in terms of sensing-throughput tradeoff design. In this paper, different from the previous studies, we consider the case that each secondary user may have different detection signal- to-noise ratio (SNR), and requires different threshold for energy detection. Weightings are used to weigh the decisions from the secondary users before combining. A new algorithm is proposed to compute the thresholds for the secondary users and the optimal weightings for the decisions are shown. Computer simulations are presented to show the performance of the proposed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":325246,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117120050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The level of vigilance is determined by integrating a number of facial parameters. In order to estimate these parameters, the facial features of eyes, mouth and head are first located in the input video sequence. The located facial features are then tracked over the subsequent images. Facial parameters are estimated during facial feature tracking. The estimated parametric values are collected and analyzed every fixed time interval to provide a real-time vigilance level of the driver. A series of experiments on real sequences were demonstrated to reveal the feasibility of the proposed system.","PeriodicalId":325246,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124069422","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different cooperative and non-cooperative schemes are investigated and compared over a complete 802.16 WiMAX-OFDM chain. Realistic channel impulse responses are used. Measurement of some propagation conditions feeds the WINNER channel model in order to generate the channel coefficients belonging to different links. Besides, real characteristics of an industrial relay are taken into account. Simulation results show that the performances of the relaying techniques, at constant relay gain, depend essentially on the propagation conditions pertaining to the different links in the network. They depend also on the received powers from the direct link and the relayed link. Finally, two intuitive power allocation schemes are examined when automatic gain controller is available at the relay.","PeriodicalId":325246,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125809220","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, large variances occur when correlating these inputs in dynamic measurements. To address this issue, this paper introduces a novel fault tolerant sensor fusion concept to fuse redundant kinetic and kinematic sensors dynamically and accurately. It consists of a driver input condition classifier, and a graceful degradation scheme voter. The classifier determines the states of several driver input conditions in real-time, which are then utilized as a pointers to allocate the best fitting driver input kinetic-kinematic response profile during dynamic operation for sensor data conversion. The graceful degradation voter module facilitates voting and fusing of the converted redundant sensor data. Functional safety is further maintained through a graceful degradation scheme to tolerate the presence of different fault scenarios in the system. The proposed sensor fusion concept is implemented on a brake-by-wire pedal test bed. Test results show significant performance gains in driver command accuracy for fault-tolerant dissimilar redundant sensor fusion.","PeriodicalId":325246,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"04 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129710847","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Related work is also on the way in China Communications Standards Association (CCSA) which may influence the allocation of frequency bands. In this paper, coexistence issues between E-UTRA and Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (UTRA) deployed in adjacent frequency bands are investigated. Two classical approaches are used to evaluate the performance degradation of both systems caused by inter-system interference. One is theoretical analysis and the other is system level simulation. The deterministic calculation is carried out in detail for base station (BS) to BS interference scenario, while the static Monte-Carlo simulation is adopted to analyze almost all the interference scenarios. System level evaluation methodology and assumptions are provided, and simulation results for a number of typical scenarios are discussed. The results show that E-UTRA has the ability to resist interference to some extent, but it brings severe interference to UTRA, and the interference between base stations is more severe than other scenarios. It is also found that the offset of E-UTRA system sites, different frequency bandwidths and power control schemes have various impacts on UTRA performance, so they should be carefully considered during E-UTRA deployment to ensure the coexistence with UTRA.","PeriodicalId":325246,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128303533","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite this situation, few measurement data about the propagation channel between the sensor units and the vehicle's reader antenna are available, especially for frequency bands above 433MHz and for reader antennas mounted on the vehicle's bottom plate. In this contribution we present static channel measurements for an advanced tyre monitoring system (ATMS) in the 868MHz and the 2.45GHz bands, carried out with a vehicle equipped with a single dual-band receive antenna at the vehicle bottom. ATM systems obtain sensor data directly in the tyre, so the sensor unit antennas were placed at the tyre sidewalls.","PeriodicalId":325246,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128453584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
