By changing existing outage gain matrix into a symmetric new one and applying Hungary and WLF algorithm, a centralized optimal and a distributed sub-optimal partner selection strategies are proposed for superposition modulation cooperative multiple access cellular network. Simulation results show that the two proposed partner selection strategies could reduce the average outage probability of the network effectively.","PeriodicalId":325246,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124158276","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specially, we focus on a real application of a bus network (N nodes), where buses are equipped with cameras for real-time security surveillance. Due to the limited number of screens (k, k<<N) at the traffic management center, how to select k bus nodes with most passengers to upload image data by DSRC needs to be solved. We present a novel distributed scheme BSS to handle this so-called \"top-k node selection\" issue in bus network, in which challenges of low time cost and high accuracy is not trivial. BSS utilizes various strategies to speed up top-k node selection facing poor network condition and application requirements. Performance evaluation is carried out on a real-trace driven simulator, which utilizes about 700 buses in Shanghai. The testing results show that BSS has an excellent performance in terms of time cost and average degree of accuracy, which shows the effectiveness of BSS scheme for real-time security surveillance.","PeriodicalId":325246,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126269471","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many transmission scheduling algorithms have been proposed to maximize the spatial reuse and minimize the time division multiple access (TDMA) frame length. There exists some interesting scheduling algorithms called topology-transparent TDMA scheduling algorithms, which do not require the detailed topology information, and are suitable for the wireless environment. However, a framework to compare the performance of these algorithms properly and fairly is still lacking. The objective of this work is to propose a uniform framework for topology-transparent scheduling algorithms. Under some fundamental constraints, an optimal solution is provided to the scheduling problem of topology-transparent algorithms. Furthermore, under the proposed framework, we analyze the relationship among all existing topology-transparent algorithms. We then develop an adaptive topology-transparent algorithm, which can always give an optimal solution under a set of the system design parameters.","PeriodicalId":325246,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126327909","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed approach consists of a linear cross-layer optimization model and a slot reuse based TDMA scheduling algorithm, which are jointly inter-connected through a hop distance/slot reuse control parameter. However, the LKH approach causes inefficiency of rekeying the group key in mobile cellular networks since it does not consider the characteristics of the networks, such as the cell-based network topology and the user's mobility. This paper proposes an efficient and practical group key management scheme dedicated to the mobile cellular networks. This new approach can achieve better performance with less management overhead than other currently available schemes, by the cell-based decentralization of key management functions. In this paper, we propose a motion tracking system, called g-sensor constellations, in which only g-sensors but no direction sensors are used. The g-sensor constellation is a loose coupling g-sensor system with rigid geometric topology. As few as three g-sensors are needed for motion tracking, including direction detection. The system is easy to be installed. No complicated calibrations are needed and the necessary information is the distances between sensors. The proposed framework can improve the accuracy of dead reckoning systems and help in the analyzing of traffic accidents and developing new human-computer interfaces. In our experiments, a g-sensor constellation composed of three g-sensors, which are located at the vertices of an equilateral triangle with edges of 0.3m and communicate with the processing unit via Bluetooth links, is built to verify the proposed technique.","PeriodicalId":325246,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128163586","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The performance result of this new algorithm indicates that the proposed algorithm overcomes some of the weaknesses of other algorithms. One of the key weaknesses that it overcomes is that the well-known iterative water-filling algorithms cannot utilize the machinery of parallel computation, owning to their inherent structure defects. Not only does the proposed algorithm sufficiently utilizes the machinery of parallel computation, it also shows faster convergence compared with previous research results. Numerical results show that the same properties of the proposed algorithm are also effective for finding the optimal input policy due to its simplicity and fast convergence.","PeriodicalId":325246,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121733730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
