It has been the subject of intensive scientific research; however, there have been scanty information on its subacute effect on the heart and kidney. Aims: This work was done to investigate the hepatocellular changes induced by berberine in adult Wistar rats. Materials and Methods: Twenty adult apparently healthy rats were used for this study. The rats were divided into four groups of five per group and fed with pellets and water ad libitum. Group A served as the control, Group B were fed with 2 mg/kg of berberine, Group C with 20 mg/kg, while Group D were fed with 200 mg/kg body weight. Doses were administered once daily using oral gavage for 28 days. Prior to the time of sacrificing the animals, blood samples were collected into plain test tubes and the animals anesthetized before sacrifice. Necropsy was performed, and the tissues (heart and kidneys) processed and stained using hematoxylin and eosin-staining techniques. Serum electrolyte (sodium and potassium), urea, creatinine, creatine kinase, and lactate dehydrogenase were analyzed. Statistical Analysis Used: Data obtained from the study were statistically analyzed using SPSS software (version 21). Results: There were significant increases in urea and creatinine (40.05 ± 14.32, P = 0.031 and 1.93 ± 0.80, P = 0.044) as well as potassium (7.45 ± 1.81, P = 0.026) in the 200 mg/kg-treated animals when compared with the control (14.59 ± 8.03, 0.40 ± 0.03, and 3.60 ± 1.01). The histological architecture of the kidneys showed glomerular atrophy in the 200 mg/kg-treated rats. There was no noticeable histological alteration in the heart. Conclusions: The result showed that berberine was toxic to the kidney at concentrations high as 200 mg/kg.","PeriodicalId":32519,"journal":{"name":"Matrix Science Medica","volume":"20 1","pages":"70 - 73"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82640297","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A new different virus (primarily called “novel coronavirus 2019 [nCoV]”) causing severe acute respiratory syndrome (COVID-19) emerged in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China, in December 2019 and rapidly spread to other parts of China and other countries around the world. The outbreak of the nCoV disease (COVID-19) has caused more than 850,000 people infected and approx. 40,000 of deaths in more than 190 countries up to March 2020, extremely affecting economic and social development. Presently, the number of infections and deaths is still increasing rapidly. COVID-19 seriously threatens human health, production, life, social functioning, and international relations. In the fight against COVID-19, geographic information systems (GIS) and big data technologies have played an important role in many aspects. This article describes the usage of practical GIS and mapping dashboards and applications for monitoring the coronavirus epidemic and related activities as they spread around the world. At the fact level, in the generation of massive data, information no longer come on the whole from the authorities but are gathered from greater diverse enterprises. As of now and for a long time in future, the improvement of GIS should be fortified to create a data-driven framework for fast information securing, which implies that GIS ought to be utilized to fortify the social operation parameterization of models and methods, particularly when giving back for social administration.","PeriodicalId":32519,"journal":{"name":"Matrix Science Medica","volume":"3 1","pages":"121 - 126"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80329875","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: According to the principle of knowledge and voluntariness, 136 female students who volunteered to participate in the investigation were selected as the research object. The IOI 353 analyzer was used to screen out 48 college students with invisibility obesity, which was averagely divided into the nonexercise group, the aerobic exercise group, the resistance training group, and the aerobic resistance group. The nonexercise group did not take any exercise, and the other groups performed 12 weeks of exercise. Before exercise, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, and 12 weeks after the exercise, each body component was detected. Results: Compared with those before the intervention, the body fat percentage (BF%) and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) of the aerobic exercise group, the resistance training group, and the aerobic resistance group were significantly decreased. In addition, the body mass index (BMI) of the aerobic exercise group was significantly decreased, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). As compared to the control group, the BF% and WHR of the aerobic exercise group, the resistance training group, and the aerobic resistance group were better than that of the control group. Moreover, BMI in the aerobic exercise group was significantly better than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusions: The exercise has obvious improvement effect on the body composition of the invisible obese female college student body, which can reduce the body fat rate and improve the morphology. The different modes of movement also have an influence on their body composition, and the exercise mode can be selected reasonably in combination with their own situation.","PeriodicalId":32519,"journal":{"name":"Matrix Science Medica","volume":"12 1","pages":"51 - 53"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81783957","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: By means of the voluntary principle, 28 college students with invisibility obesity were selected from the test instruments, such as height and weight, and they were randomly divided into observation group and control group, each of which was 14. The control group adopted a routine training program, and the observation group adopted aerobics and strength training intervention program for 6 weeks. Moreover, the physical form, physical quality, and so on of the two groups of invisible obese college social workers were observed. Results: The body composition, skinfold thickness, strength, and flexibility of college students were significantly better than those in the control group. Compared with before training, the improvement effect is very obvious, and the difference is significant (P < 0.05). However, in the body circumference and the lung activity, the improvement was not obvious (P > 0.05). Conclusions: Aerobics combined with strength training intervention can improve the body composition of invisible obese college students, improve strength and muscle content, and can improve flexibility. Moreover, the impact is very obvious.","PeriodicalId":32519,"journal":{"name":"Matrix Science Medica","volume":"37 1","pages":"32 - 34"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89893133","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
