As a result, schools, universities and other institutions of higher learning were forced to close. The only way learning could take place was through online learning. Unplanned online learning brought uncertainty among institutions, educators and learners which needs to be examined. The purpose of this case study was therefore to explore how online learning during the COVID-19 period influenced SWU international students’ studies, and to understand the attitude of these international students toward online learning during the covid-19 period and finally finding out strategies that SWU international students used to tackle the challenges they encountered through online learning. Semi-structured interviews were conducted among twelve international students offering different online courses. Researchers used content analysis to help them arrive at findings and conclusions. Results from the research showed that poor network connectivity, limited class participations were among the strongest themes to address the first research question. Passion for learning and apathy of online learning were among the themes under students’ attitude. Strategies used to cope up with the challenges faced included prior class preparations and seeking better internet connectivity showed","PeriodicalId":325097,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Education and e-Learning","volume":"97 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116198443","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The abstract nature of chemistry and other factors are capable of damping the interest of the learner during instruction which can mar the realization aims and objectives of chemistry instruction. The learning environment is shaped by the instructional approaches adopted by the teacher. Thus, the use of innovative instructional approach capable of making the learning experiences relevant to the learner, build and sustain the interest in the learner during chemistry instruction becomes very imperative. This study investigated Science-technology-society (STS) instructional approach as an innovation in improving learners’ interest in chemistry. The study was conducted using senior secondary school 2 chemistry learners in Onitsha Education zone of Anambra state, South-East of Nigeria. The study adopted quasi experimental design of the pretest posttest non equivalent control group design. Two research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. Three hundred and ten students from purposively sampled twelve coeducational public secondary schools were used for the study. Six schools were randomly assigned to the treatment group while the remaining six assigned to the control group. The treatment group was taught electrolysis using Science-technologysociety instructional approach while the control group was taught the electrolysis using the conventional instructional approach. Validated Chemistry Interest Inventory (CII) was used to collect data for the study. The CII had reliability index of 0.93. The mean score and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while analysis of variance (ANCOVA) was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of confidence. The study revealed among other things that there was significant difference in the interest mean scores of learners taught chemistry using Science-technologysociety instructional approach and those taught chemistry using conventional instructional approach. From the findings of the study, the following recommendations among others were made: Chemistry teachers should adopt STS instructional approach in teaching and learning chemistry and use of STS instructional approach should included in chemistry teacher education programme.","PeriodicalId":325097,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Education and e-Learning","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134092135","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This technology is used in the STVALL project, providing an educational platform for interactive and adaptive (individual and group) learning. A focus has been the design of specific content activities in the form of learning pills fed into the authoring tool, which stores and distributes them from its knowledge base. The content is classified according to five major subject areas in Education (Science and Nature, Literature and Art, Geography and History, Entertainment and Sports, and Language) and four language levels: Adult (over 12 years of age) / Children (0-12): A1/A2/B1/B2, based on the Common European Framework. Different tags are also assigned for content taxonomy based on the type of content (e.g., monologic vs. dialogic, narrative vs. instructions, etc). Upon interaction with the program, users build a content and language level profile that the system stores and “remembers” for their next session (singleor groupbased). The system has been pre-tested with some groups of adults and children. Some key findings point to users’ language levels as a major contributing factor towards the degree of use and motivation with the system whereas group interactivity seems to motivate users more than the single user mode. In sum, because the system is still under development, some ideas for future improvements can be found in users’ responses to a post-task survey (for instance, integrating expert-mediated writing and speaking activities). E-commerce is growing rapidly, the volume of express delivery business has increased , the quality of \"last kilometer\" delivery service is particularly important. In this paper, analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is used to find out the main factors of affecting the quality of delivery service in the \"last kilometer \", so as to put forward the strategy of improving the quality of distribution service. Keywords--Electronic Commerce, the Last Kilometer, Distribution _________________________________________________________________________________ 1. BACKGROUND In recent years, China's e-commerce has developed rapidly, and its growth rate has reached 30%. From the perspective of the scale of logistics industry, China's logistics industry has been maintaining a steady growth trend. From the point of view of logistics efficiency, China's logistics cost has decreased, but compared with western developed countries, it is still higher. Among them, the distribution cost accounts for about 30% of the logistics cost, so it is particularly important to strictly control the distribution cost. At the same time the last kilometer of distribution directly touches customers, affects logistics costs and user experience. When we concerne the cost, the problem of customer satisfaction should also be paid attention to. 2. ANALYSIS OF INFLUENCING FACTORS OF DISTRIBUTION SERVICE QUALITY IN THE LAST KILOMETRE At present, customer satisfaction of the last kilometer distribution service is not high, low customer satisfaction means that customer requirements are not met, there are many factors that can affect customer satisfaction, the last mile delivery timeliness, delivery price and service attitude of distribution are more important, using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), finds out the importance of these three factors to improve customer satisfaction. Element comparison structure chart of AHP , Figure 1: Figure 1 Element comparison structure chart of AHP The structure chart indicates three factors that affect customer satisfaction, namely, the timeliness of delivery, the price of goods delivered and the service attitude during delivery. Students' perception towards roleplaying was determined by an open-ended questionnaire while their most important consideration in language study was measured through a seven-point Likert scale. Thematic analysis was used for the qualitative data while descriptive statistics were used to analyze quantitative data. Out of the 144 students from all the classes, 117 medicalrelated profession students participated in the study. Results showed that role-playing helped the students gain confidence through frequent practice of the target language. Moreover, role-playing showed improvement in the medical-related students’ oral communication skills including their non-verbal communication skills. Furthermore, the students consider practicing the target language as the most important consideration in language study. The results indicate that this study can provide substantial data towards a new approach and a paradigm shift in English language education at the university level; from grammar focused instruction to communicative approach.
