Pisemne dziedzictwo myśliciela, oprócz badań nad historią filozofii, stanowią prace poświęcone ideologiom, w szczególności liberalizmowi, którego wizję Konrad przedstawił w dziele Główne kierunki najnowszej socjologii. Część pierwsza. Liberalizm (Lwów: Edycja \"Bohosloviyi \", Cz. 21, 1936). W celu zbadania poglądów ojca Konrada na liberalizm w odpowiednim kontekście religijno-filozoficznym konieczne było ustalenie, dlaczego myśliciel rozważał tę tradycję myśli politycznej w kontekście socjologii. Ważne było porównanie poglądów Konrada z poglądami znanych mu myślicieli katolickich. W wyniku badań ustalono, że definicja i wizja rozwoju socjologii u M. Konrada i europejskich filozofów-neotomistów A. Uszenicznika, A. Roszkowskiego, A. Szymańskiego, W. Cathreina, Y. Biederlyaka są podobne. Ich źródłem są społeczna i etyczna nauki Kościoła Katolickiego zbudowane na zasadach neotomizmu. One określiły przedmiot i zadania socjologii katolickiej, mającej na celu rozwiązywanie problemów społecznych, które rodziły potrzebę studiowania ideologii. Dlatego rozpatrywanie liberalizmu przez M. Konrada w ramach socjologii było całkiem słuszne. Kolejnym zadaniem jest zbadanie, jakie było rozumienie socjologii u myśliciela ukraińskiego i jaki wpływ wywarł na niego kontekst socjologiczny.","PeriodicalId":32293,"journal":{"name":"Studia z Historii Filozofii","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42118006","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research focuses on the response to and reception of Francis Bacon’s philosophy in the work of his Prešov follower – Ján Bayer, reflections on Kant’s aesthetics in the work of the Prešov professor Michal Greguš and the explanation of Nietzsche’s immoralism in the work of Jaromír Červenka. The paper emphasises that philosophy at the Evangelical College contributed to the development of spiritual culture in Slovakia and became part of its cultural heritage. According to the author of the paper, the value of philosophy at the Evangelical College in Prešov lies precisely (and above all) in its ability to creatively reinterpret and apply the key concepts of European philosophy into the philosophical systems of Bayer, Greguš and Červenka.","PeriodicalId":32293,"journal":{"name":"Studia z Historii Filozofii","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46509562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Zrekonstruowano jej główne cele i założenia, które można odczytać jako modernizację materializmu dialektycznego w duchu krytycznego realizmu i krytycznego racjonalizmu. Osiągnięcia scjentystycznego marksizmu porównano z perspektywą marksizmu humanistycznego, uchodzącego w Polsce za główną odmianę marksistowskiego rewizjonizmu. Jak się okazuje, tezy polskich scjentystów odpierają większość zarzutów stawianych przez rewizjonistycznych marksistów materializmowi dialektycznemu. Zarówno marksistowska filozofia naukowa, jak i marksistowska teoria społeczna mogą istnieć równolegle. After considering some of the problems of interpretation which have arisen in scholarly debates, I focus her Occasional Thoughts to highlight continuities with both Locke and Cudworth in her epistemology, moral philosophy and metaphysics. I argue these show that Damaris Masham’s philosophy does not fit the received categories of empiricist or rationalist of the dominant narrative. Her position requires us to reconsider not just the relationship of her philosophy to that of Cudworth and Locke, but also of the relationship of Cudworth and Locke. Ultimately, therefore, reintegrating women into the history of philosophy challenges us to rethink standard narratives of the history of philosophy.","PeriodicalId":32293,"journal":{"name":"Studia z Historii Filozofii","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46799853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The author presents the broader context of the outstanding accomplishment. She points out that, although universities did not allow women to enrol to study, Elena Cornaro managed to earn a doctorate thanks to several favourable circumstances. Of these, the author emphasises the tradition of intellectual centres at Renaissance courts in Italy, which were led by educated women-aristocrats; the development of the Venetian Republic in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, which affected the position of women, particularly those from aristocratic families; the openness of universities, namely the Universities of Padua and Bologna. Special attention is given to the family background, life, and studies of Elena Cornaro. The final part of the paper deals with other women philosophers of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.","PeriodicalId":32293,"journal":{"name":"Studia z Historii Filozofii","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46209342","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the same time, the full extent of the influence of Descartes’ view of embodiment on the solution Astell proposes in her Serious Proposal to the Ladies is only beginning to come to light. In this paper, I contribute to this ongoing project by arguing that Astell builds on Descartes’ ideas by addressing a blind spot in his view, namely, that that the embodied self is socially situated, and that therefore, our social context plays a crucial formative role in the development of our passions. In doing so, I show Astell extends Cartesian philosophy beyond an egalitarian feminist critique of society, but also to a positive political theory offering a solution to the problems she identifies. Thusly, Astell shows the political potential of Cartesian philosophy as a framework for social critique and to seek solutions to the problems such a critique can bring out.","PeriodicalId":32293,"journal":{"name":"Studia z Historii Filozofii","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44161541","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first part of the article addresses the question of the legitimacy of translating the Italian “Il Principe” into the Polish term “Ksiąze”. This issue is presented against the background of the entire history of the Polish translation of this work. The following parts of the article are devoted to the analysis of Chapter XV of “The Prince”. Focusing on this fragment of the philosopher's work is justified by the thesis that constitutes the most philosophical and, consequently, the most important part of his work.
