Due to the delamination of the stone, it was used instead of glass. Irkutsk region is an area with the richest reserves of various types of mica. Since the beginning of the 20th century, mica has been used for the needs of electronics as an electrical insulation material. Nowadays, mica is used in aircraft and radio industries. Vermiculite, one of the types of mica, is extremely useful as a concrete filler for obtaining sound and heat protective materials and insulation, as well as for heat insulation of furnaces. Mica is a popular component in the production of agricultural products, the paint and varnish industry, perfumes, and in the cosmetic industry. It is hoped that rare natural qualities of mica, new promising applications and current scientific research in this area can stir interest in this mineral. The lamellar shape of mica crystals is the key property of mica from waste rock. The shape of mica crystals is the basis for solving the problem of mechanical enrichment of mica in the rock mass.","PeriodicalId":322608,"journal":{"name":"XXI Century. This concept can be implemented within the municipal waste flow management, where it is relevant to search for low-cost ways to reduce the volume of deposited waste in conditions of limited funding. The paper examines the problems of managing municipal waste flows using the example of Sevastopol. Elements of the promising structural and technological scheme for the selective waste collection were developed, and strategic goals for managing municipal solid waste in a federal city were determined. Economic and infrastructural barriers that prevent the expansion of the range of materials and raw materials isolated from MSW were revealed. It is recommended to increase the volume of processed organic waste to produce compost: implementation of technologies for anaerobic biofermentation of organic components of MSW that are capable of biological decomposition, technologies for aerobic biofermentation of garden waste (green waste) mixed with municipal sewage sludge; thermal processing of alternative fuels from waste with heat recovery and full use of the waste energy resource using environmentally friendly and waste-free technologies.","PeriodicalId":322608,"journal":{"name":"XXI Century. Working conditions that affect human health depend on the condition of buildings and structures, the design and organization of workplaces, equipment, tools and materials used to perform labor duties. Labor stress is one of the main factors which has a negative impact on the human conditions inherently reflecting the load on the central nervous system, sensory organs, emotional and intellectual spheres directly related to the job performed. The article analyzes experience of developing and implementing measures intended to ensure safe working conditions, reducing general and micro-injuries, morbidity, based on the development and implementation of an environmental management strategy and targeted programs to improve working conditions.","PeriodicalId":322608,"journal":{"name":"XXI Century. One of the traumatic industries is the electric power one. The article analyzes causes of electric shocks. Among 13 causes, the first place is occupied by direct contact with overhead power lines (46%). On the example of developed countries, examples of technical measures that can prevent industrial injuries when constructing power lines are provided. The main technical tool used in their construction is supports based on sectioned reinforced concrete racks. Its advantage is simplification. Reducing the installation time of reinforced concrete supports can decrease severity of the labor process, and concrete as a natural grounding conductor increases electrical safety.","PeriodicalId":322608,"journal":{"name":"XXI Century. These technologies are of interest due to the implementation of the Paris Agreement on greenhouse emission reduction in the environmental legislation of Russia. The article classifies technologies that reduce CO2 in the atmosphere; the classification includes technologies aimed at capturing carbon dioxide directly from the air. Pilot technologies and potential directions for storing captured carbon dioxide are considered. The article shows that there are technological processes and devices that have been used for years to capture carbon dioxide, but new approaches to the purification of gas mixtures from CO2 are being developed. New methods of carbon dioxide capture and deposition are being tested and developed to provide additional opportunities for enterprises and reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.","PeriodicalId":322608,"journal":{"name":"XXI Century. To study the natural regularities of the distribution of matter in the “substances of Baikal waters – substances of the flows of the natural component of the environment” megasystem, it is necessary to know the background components in the substance of the flows and their amount. The average long-term content of chemical elements and organic matter was estimated in mg/l. The method for calculating average long-term contents (mg/l, %) of chemical elements and organic (Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Al, Si, Mn2+, Fetot, SO42-, HCO3-, Cl-, NO3-, PO43-, H+, O2, As, B, Cr, Cu, Cd, Hg, Pb, Sr, Zn, Co, U, V, Br, Rb, Mo, Corg, Norg, Porg, Sorg, CO2, Ti) in natural component flows environment “suspension of the rivers” flowing into the Southern, Selenginsky, Middle, Northern reservoirs of Baikal was developed. The results of analysis of the chemical composition of suspended substances in rivers for 1976-2001 were used. Natural indicators of the contents of chemical elements and organic matter in the suspended substance of rivers are important for comparative assessments, especially under the increased anthropogenic load. The data are necessary for assessing the scale of river chemical input with river suspension into the reservoirs of Baikal and calculating the contribution of the natural environment flows “River suspension” to the chemical balances of the lake reservoirs.","PeriodicalId":322608,"journal":{"name":"XXI Century.
