For tuning the PID controller, the speed control for PMSM was analysed using PSO algorithm to optimize the parameters in terms of proportional gain (Kp), integral gain (Ki), and derivative gain (Kd). Moreover, the overall system is evaluated under various operating conditions such as starting, braking, load application and load removal. Besides this, comparison between speed control of PMSM using Ziegler-Nichols method and speed control of PMSM with PSO technique has been carried out. These analyses are estimated in terms of dynamic, static response and total harmonic distortion (THD). The transient response are examined in terms of settling time(ts), risetime(tr), peak time (tp), and peak overshoot (Mp). Overall, PID speed controller with PSO technique shows that the proposed method has improved the performance under the various operating conditions.","PeriodicalId":322442,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electrical Electronics & Sustainable Energy Systems (ICETEESES)","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121615147","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The technique is based Features extracted from space vector magnitude. For normal system operation the space vector magnitude is constant dc, and during unbalanced sag it oscillates. The features of space vector magnitude are identified to investigate the sag type. S-Transform is used as a tool for feature extraction from SVM. The sag type is identified based on Symmetrical component classification is used The sag types are classified in to six types as given by symmetrical component classification. The technique is tested using simulated sag data. The results show that space vector magnitude S-transform technique is able to identify all types of three phase sags correctly. It avoids the need to calculate sequence components. The main advantage of using the technique is its simplicity and reliability.","PeriodicalId":322442,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electrical Electronics & Sustainable Energy Systems (ICETEESES)","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127346289","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Frequency stability analysis of a hybrid power system (HPS) based on solar PV and Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage system (SMES) unit have discussed in this paper. Generally frequency instability problem occurs due to abrupt variation in load demand growth and generated power variations from different renewable power sources. To Solve these fluctuating problem, renewable power generators are equipped with various storage system. On the bases of frequency stability, effect of enabling the SMEs operation with the HPS has also been analyzed in this paper. HPS model has simulated in two different cases. First one is the steady state analysis with controller and another is dynamic operation of the system throughout a day. Genetic Algorithm is used for optimizing the controller's parameter. In the presence of large disturbance the effect of limited storage capability of SMES unit as large disturbance is also being considered. Matlab/Simulink platform is used for analyzing the HPS model. From Simulation results it is observed that SMES unit can mitigate the frequency fluctuations and improves system stability in both cases for variable PV power and uneven demand loads.","PeriodicalId":322442,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electrical Electronics & Sustainable Energy Systems (ICETEESES)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115817091","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

VVO offers energy savings with associated reduction in green house gas emission and other directly or indirectly benefits to customers and/or utilities. The main function of the VVO is to determine the operational setting of volt/var control devices, to minimize the system loss of the distribution network and switching operation of the On-load Tap Changer (OLTC), Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR), and Capacitor Banks (CBs). VVO is an advanced method that optimizes voltage and/or reactive power (VAR) of a distribution network based on predetermined aggregated feeder load profile. This paper presents a critical review of VVO/CVR technology with traditional and existing techniques in the era of smart grid. This problem can be solved by cognitive radio. With the help of cognitive radio, the spectrum which is not being used by any licensed user, at a particular time period, can be used by secondary or cognitive radio user, making more efficient spectrum utilization. This is done by spectrum sensing process. Among many methods of spectrum sensing, energy sensing method is used in this paper as this is a less complex method as compared to others. Performance of a cognitive radio system is analysed with the help of ROC (Receiver Operating Characteristics) which is the graph between probability of detection and probability of false alarm. As the probability of detection should be high and probability of false alarm should be low, ROC gives a trade off between the two values. In this paper, simulation and analytical results for probability of detection and probability of false alarm are compared for different parameters in AWGN channel. ROC and probability of detection vs SNR results are compared for EGC and SSC diversity combining techniques in Rayleigh fading channel.","PeriodicalId":322442,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electrical Electronics & Sustainable Energy Systems (ICETEESES)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131260254","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Further we apply texture descriptor based on local phase of the image in frequency domain is applied to extract crucial features of the image. This texture descriptor has high descriptive ability that provides sufficient image internal statistical information for detecting image forgery.
