This study represents retrospective orthopantomogram (OPG) analysis of 1900 patients chosen randomly from digital x-rays centers in Sana’a, Yemen. Data collected was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25. Among 1900 OPG’s, impacted third molars were found in 741 (39%), most commonly noticed in female 467 (63.1%), mandibular jaw 325 (43.86%), mesiangular 510 (55.9%) in mandible and distoangular 316 (52.5%) in maxilla, class IB 633 (41.84%). Associated pathology was dental caries in the second or third molar 67 (9%). Pathologies mostly affects mandible 197 (91.6%); they occur in mesioangular 98 (45.6%), class I 125 (58.1%), level B 96 (44.7%) position. As a conclusion, impacted third molar is a common problem that affects nearly one third of Yemeni population.","PeriodicalId":322244,"journal":{"name":"International Arab Journal of Dentistry","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124231043","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A photograph of the smile that conforms to a woman’s aesthetic standards has been digitally altered to provide a reference image. Next, images where modified then evaluated. The collected data was analyzed. Dental professionals critically judged dental aesthetics by focusing on the gingivo-dental characteristics that make the smile less pleasant. Dental professionals detected minimal dental discrepancies in a smile, unlike doctors who assessed the smile in relation to the entire face since their judgment is global. Lebanese doctors have a different perception of oral aesthetics from Lebanese prosthodontists and orthodontists.","PeriodicalId":322244,"journal":{"name":"International Arab Journal of Dentistry","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131389178","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the 9th of January 2020, following a fast progression of the infection, the World Health Organization announced the finding to be a novel coronavirus that was named SARS-CoV-2. Dentistry has a very special working environment that puts it on the top of the lists of hazardous professions. The inherent nature of dental procedures might represent a transmission path for the virus. The spread of the disease can be prevented by taking strict measures before, during and after each dental procedure. The aim of this review is to shed a light on the possible modes of transmission of COVID-19 infection within the dental clinic. Additionally, the review highlights the necessary measures to keep the dental environment safe to dentists, patients and other personnel.","PeriodicalId":322244,"journal":{"name":"International Arab Journal of Dentistry","volume":"31 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129439003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of impression material and implant angulation on the impression accuracy of external-connection implants. Four customized epoxy resin master models, with twoimplant analogs placed parallel or with different degrees of divergence (10, 20 and 30 degrees), were fabricated with their corresponding passively fitted reference frameworks. Ten impressions were taken, for each model, with vinyl polysiloxane (VPS) and polyether (PE) using custom open tray impression technique. Impressions were poured with type IV dental stone and vertical discrepancies between the reference frameworks and the platforms of the implant replicas were evaluated, with a stereo video microscope, applying the one-screw test. The data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA, Sidak, and one-sample t-test at p ≤ 0.05. No significant differences were found between PE and VPS at various angulations (p > 0.05). However, all groups showed a significant difference (p 0.05). Cependant, les groupes ont montre une difference significative en comparaison avec la valeur reelle (p < 0.05). Tout en considerant les limitations de l’etude, le produit d’empreinte et l’angulation de l’implant n’ont pas d’effet sur la precision de l’empreinte en cas d’implants a connexions externes.","PeriodicalId":322244,"journal":{"name":"International Arab Journal of Dentistry","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129266902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
