The proposed multimodal image query and retrieval (MIQR) method uses two or more types of query for accessing images - textual annotation associated with images and visual appearance, such as color, texture and positional features of objects in sample images. A user places a keyword-based query first and then retrieves desired images by visual content-based query. A prototype MIQR system was implemented and is available at http://140.113.216.66/WebImageSearch for online demo, and public evaluation. Knowledge regarding the statistical modeling of network traffic is very important. Here we tend towards modeled network traffic which would be the best possible approximation of the measured traffic. Throughout our research in the field of self-similar network traffic we have faced problem of statistically describing the packet-size process. We have noticed that small discrepancies between measured histograms and estimated probability density functions, as used in traffic generator models, lead to large discrepancy between measured and modeled network traffics. In this research we tried to estimate the probability density function of a measured histogram for process-packet size, in such way that would decrease these discrepancies. For this purpose, we have developed a novel method of modeling network traffic, which is based on the defragmentation of measured traffic. Using this defragmentation method, we can estimate parameters of filespsila size process, from captured packets and use these statistical parameters for traffic generation, via the OPNET simulation tool. From these simulations, we can show that this newly-developed method decreases discrepancy between packet size process histograms of measured and simulated network traffics. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, TV studios are still producing and broadcasting analog PAL signal, but according to recommendation, they should switch to DVB before 2012. Because of the actuality of this problem, the main idea of this paper was to make appropriate hardware and software solution for digitalization of PAL signal, acquired on the output of analog cameras or stored on tapes in studios, and its transmission over IP based network, together with application on client side. Speaker recognition works as text independent and is designed to verify a person using a short utterance. GMM method is used for speaker modeling and GMM-UBM classifier is used for process of matching. Hand geometry technology uses 21 extracted features from image of userpsilas hand and Euclidian distance for recognition. Information fusion in the multimodal system is performed at the matching score level, where scores obtained from matchers are combined using different normalization techniques and fusion rules. Differences of content arrival time of 100 ms may already have a perceivable effect on such interaction. Measurements presented in this paper show that these differences can be orders of magnitudes larger in practical systems. The main sources of delay are coding and decoding delays, but also multicasting can introduce significant delay differences. The paper concludes with architectural approaches to inter-destination content synchronization, which can be network- and terminal based. For these applications, the measurements are modulo-2p, where p is the period, a certain real number, whereas the aimed information is contained in the true phase value. The process of inferring the phase from its wrapped modulo-2p values is the so-called phase unwrapping (PU) problem. In this paper we present a graph-cuts based PU technique that uses two wrapped images, of the same scene, generated with different periods p1, p2. This diversity allows to reduce the ambiguity effect of the wrapping modulo-2p operation, and is extensible to more than two periods. To infer the original data, we assume a first order Markov random field (MRF) prior and a maximum a posteriori probability (MAP) optimization viewpoint. The employed objective functionals have nonconvex, sinusoidal, data fidelity terms and a non isotropic total variation (TV) prior. This is an integer, nonconvex optimization problem for which we apply a technique that yields an exact, low order polynomial complexity, global solution. At its core is a non iterative graph cuts based optimization algorithm. All of these proposals have one fact in common: their dynamic expandability is inadequate in the face of the development of carrier-grade solutions. This disadvantage appears with changes in interconnection scenarios too. The method described in this paper suggests an opportunity to implement these partially standardised functionalities inside the IMS core network to enable dynamic expandability. We will briefly present the current standardization efforts in ETSI TISPAN to standardize IPTV platforms and summary of relevant specification. We provide outlook about possible migration path from current IPTV solutions which are not based on NGN towards NGN based IPTV platforms.
