The aim of this study was to determine the laboratory sciences students’ attitude toward their field of study and future career in Alborz University of Medical Sciences. Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was performed on 117 laboratory science students using census sampling technique. Questionnaires including demographic questions and main research questions were used to collect data. To analyze the collected data, SPSS software, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and correlation analysis were used. Results : The average of student’s age was 20.66±1.43, which 29.1% were male and 70.9% were female. Average score of student’s attitude towards field of study was 42.59±8.19 (P-Value<0.05), 43% had a positive attitude and 57% had a negative attitude towards their field of study. Also, average score of student’s attitude towards future career was 13.45 ± 3.50 (P-Value<0.000), 35.1% of students had a positive attitudes and 64.9% had a negative attitudes towards future careers. Conclusion : According to the results, most students didn’t have the necessary awareness about their field of study. In order to better understand and to improve the students' perspectives, necessary counseling should be provided to get better acquainted with the university majors. Also, ensuring job security and creating suitable job position for graduates of this field are appropriate strategies to strengthen students' attitudes towards their future careers.","PeriodicalId":32175,"journal":{"name":"Development Strategies in Medical Education","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44104334","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study was to determine the facilitation and inhibiting factors of clinical skills learning from the viewpoint of surgical technology and anesthesia students of Rafsanjan University of Medical Sciences. Methods : In this descriptive study, 104 students of 4th, 6th and 8th semesters of surgical and anesthesiology technology were selected through census sampling. Data gathering tools, demographic information, and a 61-item questionnaire about facilitating and inhibiting factors were effective on learning clinical skills. Data were analyzed using SPSS software and descriptive statistics and inferential statistics using independent t-test and P-Value<0.05 was considered significant. Results : The results showed that in the area of educator characteristics, good educator-patient relationship with staff and patient is the most important facilitating factor, and in the field of teacher-student communication, providing appropriate feedback from the instructor to the student and the teacher-student confidence are the most important factors, respectively. It was facilitating from the perspective of both groups of students. In terms of the relationship between staff and students, the temperament and anger of the staff were the most important deterrents from the viewpoint of both group. A narrative approach was presented as a training course in order to improve the professionalism of medical interns in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. The aim of this study was to describe the optimization strategies for presenting a narrative medicine educational program. Methods : This study was conducted qualitatively and with inductive approach in 1399. Medical interns participating in the first course of narrative medicine, including 18 people, were included in the study by purposive sampling. In-depth semi-structured and individual interviews were conducted and data were analyzed using MAXQDA10 software. Results : Participants included 18 medical interns (10 males and 8 females) with a mean age of 25±0.38. A total of 417 codes were extracted. The optimization strategies included 3 main categories and 6 sub-categories including pre-training predictions (motivation and culture building), training process (teaching strategies, teacher role and curriculum) and executive requirements (emphasis on executive components). Conclusion: Considering the analyzed strategies can be useful in order to teach narrative medicine effectively in subsequent courses in other universities of medical sciences with regard to the educational and cultural context in Iran. It is also recommended to use the opinion of experienced experts in holding this course.","PeriodicalId":32175,"journal":{"name":"Development Strategies in Medical Education","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47551153","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although there are significant studies of mobile learning acceptance and mobile-based assessment (MBA), there is little research on app design and driving factors that influence students' intention to use mobile technology for assessment purposes. The purpose of this study was to design and execute an evaluation application and provide empirical evidence on the adoption of a Mobile Based Assessment (MBA) based on the Technology Acceptance Model. Methods : The Quizzes for Mental Health and Addiction and Occupational Health of Public Health major Entries 94 and 95 (35 students) were held using the app. Content, technology, ease of use, usefulness, usefulness, cognitive feedback, and attitude were used to evaluate students' behavioral intention. Status of holding morning report sessions from participants’ viewpoint: A qualitative study. Journal of Development Strategies in Medical Education. 2020; 7 (2): 61- 70 Abstract Introduction: Morning report is one of the most important fields of clinical education and it differs in terms of context and presentation, content, and educational goals in different educational departments. These differences may be due to preferences or a tendency for specific educational topics that do not necessarily fit the learners' needs. This study aimed to explain the viewpoints of residents and internal medicine faculties about the status of holding morning report sessions. Materials and Methods: The study was a qualitative content analysis, and 18 faculty members and residents of the internal medicine department were selected purposefully for individual interviews. The content of the interviews was analyzed using MAXQDA10 software. Results: After merging and deleting similar and duplicate codes, a total of 76 codes were obtained. The status of morning report sessions was extracted into two main themes of participation and presentation framework, and was divided into four main categories, including participants, training process, reporting, and scheduling, as well as 15 subcategories. Conclusion: From the participants' viewpoint, there is still a gap between the quality of morning reports and the desired educational quality. We need to take steps to improve the quality of education in clinical settings by considering standards to rectify these educational gaps.","PeriodicalId":32175,"journal":{"name":"Development Strategies in Medical Education","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42003645","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
