From the aspects of the planar distribution, structure classification, modeling features, decorative patterns, carving techniques and other aspects of plinth in folk dwellings, it summarizes the artistic characteristics of plinth in the traditional architecture in Southern Hubei. The purpose of the article is to present the emerging architecture of the development of spatial concepts, identifying their typological signs of emergence and existence in modern conditions. A leading approach to the study of the problem based on the application for the first time proposed by Michel Foucault's notion of “heterotopy”, which outlines a new perspective and offers a new concept for the analysis of space. It is noted that in shaping modernity, heterotopy moved into the category of tools available for use in research practices. In accordance with the concepts of architectural heterotopy formulated nine topical areas of research. Materials of article and descriptions of atypical spaces in architecture can be useful for the theory and practice of shaping space habitats, so as to open up completely new possibilities in architectural activities. The author emphasizes links with the Italian culture through literature and mythology, as well as the influence of the direct impressions of the embassy participants and travelers in the Italian States. In conclusion, the scheme of development of garden Italianisms in Russia is outlined — from the use of schematic and simplified regular plans of gardens in the Middle ages, only remotely resembling their Italian prototypes, to the development of technical innovations and imaginative analogies in the New time, and from them to the art of artistic transformation and harmonization of the Russian landscape. In the fortification architecture processes of interaction of the introduced universals and traditional cultures in space-time development always had the brightest reflection. The main results of the conducted research are presented in the article: identification of the space-time features of formation of architecture and cultural interferences in fortification architecture of Alania and the Caucasus of the 10-12th centuries; definition of a regional system of territorial and spatial frameworks of the designated group of monuments in the context of universals of medieval fortification art, traditional environmental management and a sacral component; models of transcultural interaction between universal and traditional cultures in fortification architecture of the designated region and its separate subjects as reflection of contaminations in the outlook of the population and cultural identity.
