The proposed method is based on the interpolation scheme by weighted sum of multiple interpolation filtering results. Also, the blocking artifacts on the block boundaries are reduced by applying a technique similar to the overlapping-block motion compensation (OBMC) in the proposed method. To reduce the drawback of overlapping processing, the proposed method uses the motion analysis to determine the type of motion and applies the WAMCI adaptively. Experimental results indicate good performance of the proposed scheme with significantly reduced blocking artifacts.","PeriodicalId":319221,"journal":{"name":"2003 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics, 2003. Short and long echoes can induce timing-offset in the symbol timing recovery circuit. The timing-offset shifts sampling instants to the wrong points, causing the performance of the equalizer to become poor. When many echoes exist, the optimal sampling instant is the point at which the main-path has a peak value. By using channel estimation techniques, we find the optimal sampling instant, thereby compensating the timing offset and improving DTV reception performance.","PeriodicalId":319221,"journal":{"name":"2003 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics, 2003. In the proposed scheme, block-wise motion is first calculated using the frame differences. Then, it is refined by the pixel-based motion information. The results of hardware implementation show that the proposed scheme using block-wise motion is more robust to noise than the conventional schemes using pixel-wise motion. Also, the proposed spatial interpolation provides a good visual performance in the case of moving diagonal edges.","PeriodicalId":319221,"journal":{"name":"2003 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics, 2003.
