Even though the ultimate user demands are known to be influenced by multiple factors, there is one clear trend - people require an increasingly higher quality of mobile video services. To this end, modeling the corresponding quality of experience (QoE) constitutes a non-trivial task and calls for a careful balance between the key underlying aspects, while maintaining the overall complexity as low as possible. This should in turn deliver the much needed usability of the resulting model across many real-world scenarios, and in this work we develop a novel QoE prediction model based on our extensive user experience investigation of the YouTube service. Our proposed solution allows network operators to estimate the degrees of video quality and thus predict the associated mobile user expectations in their deployments. The design principles behind our methodology, its accuracy evaluation, as well as the obtained numerical results are reported in the course of this paper.","PeriodicalId":319102,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems and Workshops (ICUMT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129967354","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

All existing as well as future field buses and LANs are potentially connectable to CR4, and they do not notice their intermediate backbone. This is called by us `transparent' operation. The maximum source-to-target bandwidth of one CR `ring' is 1.8 Gbps, and its smallest elapsed time for transferring a data frame is 243 ns. The maximum distance of a ring is 40 m, while a whole CR4 system of up to 256 rings can reach 10 km. Applications for CR4 are in real-time communication-systems for buildings and vehicles for land, sea, air and space, as well as for process and factory automation.","PeriodicalId":319102,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems and Workshops (ICUMT)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134208144","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In interactions between humans and robots, the robot can smoothly begin to coexist and communicate with humans and allay feelings of aversion in them by generating a handshake motion that is emotionally acceptable to humans. Thus, in our previous study, a handshake response motion model was proposed, in which the robot generates a handshake approaching motion before actually shaking hands with the human. In this model, the robot responds with a handshake when the human requests one. The effectiveness of the model was demonstrated by experiments using a handshake robot system when the human and robot remained stationary. However, in interactions between two humans, one usually requests a handshake while approaching the other. Therefore, in this paper, a handshake response motion model with approaching of human has been proposed based on an analysis of human handshake motions. In this model, the robot generates the response motion of a handshake when a human requests one while approaching the robot. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the proposed model was demonstrated by sensory evaluation using a robot system that employed the model.","PeriodicalId":319102,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems and Workshops (ICUMT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129975137","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The linearization part is based on the desire to get the suitable linear model for the application of optimal control algorithms and at the same time to take into account all influences of nonlinear components. For the synthesis of the suboptimal control law, we used the method of Lagrange multipliers and the Pontryagin's maximum principle. The article also indirectly considers the fundamental principles of the calculus of variations, such as the Bellman's principle of optimality. We selected Twin Rotor MIMO System as the plant for the mathematical modeling and experimental verification of results.","PeriodicalId":319102,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems and Workshops (ICUMT)","volume":"430 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124480453","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Usually, this scenario is based on a center-point (so called smart home gateway) which provides the bridging connectivity inside (with the sensors) and outside (with the remote applications) the home. Such gateway is usually a restricted device running on Linux-based operating system (e.g. OpenWRT) including required applications on the top of it. In this paper, we focus on OSGi framework as currently very preferable platform for IoT services in combination with Raspberry Pi embedded hardware board which is also very popular for assuring the gateway features in the smart home. The performance analysis of three selected OSGi frameworks is provided with the aim to critically evaluate the most suitable candidate to become a solid enabler for the connected-home. Since HTTP is the most frequently applied communication protocol for data exchange between smart home gateway and any remote (cloud) application, a particular focus is given to the testing of three implementations of HTTP servers running as OSGi bundles on the gateway. All the obtained results including practical outputs are concluded at the end of our paper.","PeriodicalId":319102,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems and Workshops (ICUMT)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131793981","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this research is to take advantage of these resources and tools, developing an application for gesture recognition in Portuguese Sign Language (PSL) focused in helping disabled deaf and/or mute and hearing children to learn PSL. The PSL involves the use of hands and facial expressions to interact, where the output of the communication (“talk”) comes from the hands and/or body and the input comes from the eyes observation (“hear”). This paper presents a serious game for children in the 1st cycle (primary Portuguese school) between the ages of 6 to 10 years.
