The femto cells and small cells are often installed indoor, to serve the clients of a single building, such as a shopping mall or an office building. In this paper we provide a practical evaluation of RAN modelling in indoor LTE deployment where we benefit from the full access to the real LTE-A (Rel. 10) deployment and complete building documentation. The measured values of Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR) and throughput are compared with the results from the radio signal propagation model, implemented in Python. The obtained values are in consequence used for the transmission power configuration to realize the CCO (Coverage and Capacity Optimization) in LTE networks. The results show very good correlation (above 0.8) between even a simple model based on the building maps and the measurements.","PeriodicalId":319102,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems and Workshops (ICUMT)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126148782","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By using coherent detection, full signal recovery is achieved at the receiver which allows modulating both, amplitude and phase. However, the needed local oscillator requires a complex carrier recovery system. In order to achieve homodyne detection an optical phase-locked loop is used which is characterised by a nonlinear behaviour that influences the data transmission performance. We present a nonlinear characteristic investigation of this Costas-loop based carrier recovery system for optical high-speed intersatellite data transmission. We combine the fundamentals of future optical intersatellite communication with analyses of an optical phase-locked loop based carrier control system. The corresponding nonlinear differential equation system is derived and finally investigated by phase plane diagrams. The impact of noise as well as the cycle slip phenomena will be discussed.","PeriodicalId":319102,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems and Workshops (ICUMT)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116042626","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, this approach raises several research challenges, including but not limited to: which communication technology to use, how to guarantee the relevant security level, and, last but not the least, how to integrate the wireless authentication systems into already deployed authorization solutions. In this paper, we address the above mentioned questions by proposing a wireless authentication solution based on the NFC-capable smartphone and using OPACITY authentication protocol that is compatible with existing access control mechanisms in OS Windows 8. We start with qualitative comparison of Bluetooth, RFID and NFC technologies in terms of applicability for wireless authentication. We then describe the OPACITY protocol in general, and its adaptation to wireless authentication scenario. We finally present the high-level architecture of our solution and highlight some Windows OS specifics we faced during the reference implementation. We believe that demonstrated interoperability between wireless authentication solution and existing access control mechanisms in modern OS provides an important step towards further development of advanced authentication methods, based on wireless keys.","PeriodicalId":319102,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems and Workshops (ICUMT)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116151277","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The algorithm optimally restricts the signal support around the missing data region. This way, increased computational efficiency is achieved by avoiding inclusion of unnecessary values in the optimization process. For testing purposes, we use the discrete Gabor transform as the sparsity promoting representation, but the method can be easily translated to other systems.","PeriodicalId":319102,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems and Workshops (ICUMT)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114287319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although most studies have considered perfect reconstruction of the primary user signal, it is actually more important to assess the presence or absence of the signal. Among CS based methods, Bayesian CS (BCS) takes into consideration the prior information of signal coefficients to be estimated, which improves signal reconstruction performance. On the other hand, the sparsity level of the signal to be estimated has a direct impact on signal reconstruction and detection performances. Considering all of the above, the effect of sparsity level on BCS based spectrum sensing is studied in this paper. More specifically, a BCS based spectrum sensing scheme is considered and its mean-square error (MSE) performance is compared with the Bayesian Cramer-Rao bound for various user bandwidths. BCS MSE is also compared with the deterministic lower MSE (DL-MSE), which is a tight lower bound of the conventional basis pursuit approach. Furthermore, complementary receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves are obtained to examine the trade-off between probabilities of false alarm and detection, depending on the user signal bandwidth.","PeriodicalId":319102,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems and Workshops (ICUMT)","volume":"157 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114162339","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In D-SDF, each relay individually decides the end of its listening phase and the beginning of its cooperation phase, based on different source selection rules. Practical Joint Network Channel Coding (JNCC) schemes at the relays are proposed, as well as the corresponding Joint Network Channel Decoding (JNCD) algorithms at the relays and destination. The relays' and destination's receivers are designed to benefit from the signals of the previously activated relays to better decode the sources.","PeriodicalId":319102,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems and Workshops (ICUMT)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125458595","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, we provide an analytical framework for LTE resource allocation in terms of queuing theory. We consider a multiservice queuing system with a finite amount of resources of several types, and allow the customers occupy a random amount of resources upon their arrival. Random resource requirements lead to more accurate performance evaluation compared to conventional multiservice models. For the considered model, we prove that the stationary probability distribution has a multiplicative form. Our findings are illustrated with a numerical example.","PeriodicalId":319102,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems and Workshops (ICUMT)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130120829","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Leap Motion Controller is used, allowing the detection of fingers and hands with high accuracy and resolution. The project is based on the well-known hangman game. The player inputs the gestures that represent the letters of the alphabet in the sign language. The Leap Trainer framework for gesture and pose learning and recognition was used. This framework is helpful to the development of the proposed game since it allows the recording of a gesture and a subsequent comparison with the recorded gesture, giving a match percentage result. There are many sign language learning games, but they are not interactive. The proposed game is primarily for children but also adequate for adults.","PeriodicalId":319102,"journal":{"name":"2015 7th International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems and Workshops (ICUMT)","volume":"887 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131240623","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
