Therefore, parental involvement seems to be a key factor for the successful treatment of this psychiatric disorder. The aim of this study was to evaluate the level of evidence available to allow recommendation of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with family intervention for the treatment of children and adolescents with OCD. The systematic search was performed on MEDLINE/PubMed, followed by analysis of abstracts and full-length articles by two independent evaluators. Subsequently, an analysis of the evidence available was conducted using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) system. The effect size of the intervention was calculated using Cohen’s d. We found 77 articles on PubMed, plus 12 articles via cross-reference search. Of these, seven articles were included in this review, according to the following criteria: intervention study, involving only children and/or adolescents, and a having a structured or clinical diagnosis of OCD. The Children’s Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (CY-BOCS) was used for outcome evaluation in all articles, thus enabling assessment of the effect size of non-controlled interventions (d = 1.43), resulting in a mean difference of 13.11 points (95%CI 11.84-14.39; p < 0.001). Conversely, a high heterogeneity was detected among the studies (I² = 67%). Family-based CBT seems to have an important effect on the reduction of OCD symptoms in children and adolescents. However, the small number of studies available do not allow us to establish an evidence level higher than C for this recommendation. They are a consequence of modern lifestyle. Leisure physical activities can reduce tension and therefore help prevent CMDs. OBJECTIVE: To estimate the prevalence of CMDs among youths who engage and those who do not engage in leisure physical activities in Feira de Santana (BA), Brazil. METHODS: A cross-sectional, epidemiological study was conducted with 3,597 individuals, including 1,400 young people aged 15-29 years, living in the urban area of Feira de Santana. Leisure physical activities were assessed using a structured questionnaire covering the frequency, type, reason and effort involved in each activity. The Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20) was used to assess CMDs. RESULTS: The prevalence of CMD was 19.2% among adolescents (15-17 years old), 26.6% among youths (18-24 years), and 27.8% among young adults (25-29 years). In the assessment of leisure activities, 89.9% of the youths reported to regularly engage in some kind of activity; however, engagement in leisure physical activities was observed to reduce with age. A negative association was found between leisure physical activities and CMD (prevalence ratio: 0.59, 95% confidence interval: 0.51-0.67). O objetivo do presente trabalho foi investigar os efeitos da terapia cognitivo-comportamental em um paciente com TEPT e sintomas dissociativos com base em medidas psicofisiologicas e psicometricas em diferentes momentos do tratamento. DESCRICAO DO CASO: O paciente e um homem de 38 anos, com diagnosticos de TEPT e transtorno depressivo maior recorrente com sintomas dissociativos e resistencia ao tratamento farmacologico. O tratamento psicoterapico teve duracao de 4 meses, sendo composto por uma sessao semanal de terapia e tres sessoes semanais de coterapia. Os parâmetros fisiologicos (frequencia cardiaca, tonus vagal, balanco simpatico e cortisol) e psicometricos (afeto negativo e positivo, resiliencia e sintomas de estresse pos-traumatico, depressao, ansiedade e dissociacao) foram medidos antes, durante (uma vez ao mes) e apos o tratamento. COMENTARIOS: Os resultados mostraram diminuicao do balanco simpatico e aumento do tonus vagal, da frequencia cardiaca e dos niveis de cortisol ao longo do tratamento. O tratamento tambem promoveu reducao no afeto negativo e nos sintomas de estresse pos-traumatico, depressao, ansiedade e dissociacao, alem de um aumento nos escores de resiliencia, apoio social e afeto positivo. Esses resultados sugerem que a terapia cognitivo-comportamental e um tratamento eficaz para o TEPT com sintomas dissociativos. Heinemann","doi":"10.1590/S0101-81082011000200005","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1590/S0101-81082011000200005","url":null,"abstract":"INTRODUCTION: Despite the important role played by sexual function in quality of life, there is a scarcity of instruments in the Brazilian literature specifically designed to assess this aspect, and especially of instruments that can be used with both men and women. The adaptation of the Scale for Quality of Sexual Function (QSF), a unisex scale, is an important step in the production of instruments that allow to compare results obtained in different populations. OBJECTIVE: To describe the translation and semantic adaptation of the QSF into Brazilian Portuguese. METHODS: Instrument adaptation involved five phases: 1) two independent translations, 2) a consensual version produced by translators and experts, 3) evaluation of this version by a different expert, not involved in the previous phases, 4) back translation with evaluation by the author of the original scale, and, finally, 5) application of the final Brazilian Portuguese version in a experimental group. RESULTS: All stages of the adaptation process are described. The participation of experts from the fields of both mental health and human sexuality since the first stage of the process contributed to broader discussions, which allowed to achieve the best possible adequacy for each item, both conceptually and culturally. The experimental application of the final, adapted version of the scale involved both men and women with different educational backgrounds and levels. No difficulties were faced by this group in understanding the items included in the scale. It is important to use a suitable tool while assessing patients’ cognitions, once these findings may help formulate the problems observed and may guide the selection of a consistent treatment plan. The objective of this study was to describe the stages of translation and adaptation into Brazilian Portuguese of the Driving Cognitions Questionnaire, designed to measure cognitions that may be present in the fear of driving. METHODS: Three translations and three back translations were conducted by six independent evaluators. Semantic equivalence assessment and evaluation of the different versions were conducted and resulted in a synthesized version of the instrument. Comments made by 10 participants on the preliminary version of the questionnaire were examined. The preliminary Brazilian version of the questionnaire was developed. RESULTS: Most participants understood the cognitions as described in the Brazilian Portuguese version of the questionnaire. METODO: Foram avaliadas mulheres com idade entre 20 e 50 anos que deram entrada em uma delegacia da mulher com queixa de VD. Durante a entrevista, todas foram submetidas ao Relatorio de Indicadores Sociais e preencheram os seguintes instrumentos de autoaplicacao: Inventario de Depressao de Beck, Inventario de Ansiedade de Beck, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Checklist - Civilian Version e o Questionario de Experiencias Dissociativas Peritraumaticas (todos em lingua portuguesa). Foram usadas notas de corte a partir dos estudos de validacao desses instrumentos para categorizar individuos com alta probabilidade de apresentar transtorno depressivo maior, transtorno de ansiedade, transtorno de estresse pos-traumatico, ou alta/baixa dissociacao peritraumatica. RESULTADOS: Foram avaliadas 17 mulheres com idade media de 34,7±7,7 anos. O tempo medio de duracao da violencia foi de 9,1±8,7 anos. Do total de mulheres, 53% eram vitimas de agressao excessiva e 84% eram ameacadas de morte pelo companheiro; em 71% dos casos, os companheiros eram usuarios de drogas. Alem disso, 53% das mulheres afirmaram ter sofrido VD na infância. Do total da amostra, 89% tiveram grande probabilidade de apresentar transtorno depressivo maior, 94% transtorno de ansiedade, 76% transtorno de estresse pos-traumatico e 88% apresentaram elevados niveis de experiencias dissociativas peritraumaticas.
