Since the change in the status of the village forest (HD) in 2014, it is hoped that it will become an opportunity for Merabu Village to increase the productivity of agriculture, livestock, and tourist destinations. The focus of this study is to explore the tourism potential of Merabu Village. We obtained data sets through interviews, FGDs, and field observations of a number of informants who predominantly work as farmers. The trend of tourist visits every year is also increasing and especially rural-tourism is managed by Kerima Puri. Since the beginning of the presence of domestic tourists and foreign tourists, there have been tour boat services that took them to the gate of Nya’deng Lake, homestays, food providers, and various traditional attractions (cultural festivals). As a rural tourism area, HD has a positive impact on local residents to be involved in rural-tourism development. This finding also hopes for a real contribution from relevant parties to advance the rural-tourism of Merabu Village","PeriodicalId":31738,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Pariwisata Pesona","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47771765","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sakerta Timur is one of the villages that want to become the pioneer of tourism villages in Kuningan Regency. One of the main supporters of the tourism industry is human resources, including women. Traditional gender roles, assign women the main responsibilities for raising children and doing household work, but in Sakerta Timur, most of the women help the husband’s role in improving the household economy. The women have the ability to process local foodstuffs for sale since these local products have been able to contribute to village income. Home industry and homestay in Sakerta Timur are mostly managed by women which is half of the population. They are very potential to support the development of their village to become a rural destination through the home industry and homestay, but there is still a lack of support from the village government due to physical development priority. Using in-depth interviews, observation, and other supplemental evidence, this study was to analyze the potential and how to empower women in Sakerta Timur to support their village to become rural tourism destination through home industry and homestay, since these two industries are the key factors of tourism. The findings from this paper hopefully will help another potential tourism village how to develop their village to become a rural tourism destination through the food home industry and homestay which were managed by women.","PeriodicalId":31738,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Pariwisata Pesona","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43826926","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because of that, the seasonal pattern of tourist arrivals is an important thing that must be observed in making policies in the field of tourism marketing. Therefore, identifying seasonal patterns will influence the strategy of allocating available resources, especially in markets that have great potential in producing quality tourists like Australia. By using the calculation of Seasonality Ratio, Seasonality Indicator, Gini Coefficients, and Seasonality Index, this study compares the seasonal patterns of Australian tourists arriving in Indonesia with other competing countries, namely Singapore and Thailand. This research has succeeded in identifying that the Seasonality Ratio and Seasonality Indicator values show the pattern of Australian tourists arrives in Indonesia has more fluctuations every month. Despite this, the seasonal level of Australian tourists to Indonesia is low the same as the two other countries. This is seen from the results of the Gini Coefficient calculation in the three countries are below 0.5, or the difference in tourist arrivals per month is not significant. The Seasonality Index indicator shows that January, April, and December are the peak season periods for Australian tourists arriving Singapore and Thailand. However, this is different in Indonesia which is in the off-season phase. Thus, Indonesia has opportunities to optimize Australian tourist arrives in the off-season with the right marketing policies.","PeriodicalId":31738,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Pariwisata Pesona","volume":" 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41252825","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consequently, this research was conducted to map the potential tourist spots that have become attractions in Asey Besar Island. It was also performed to reveal the environmental conditions by utilizing Sapta Pesona or the seven enchantments’ elements. A qualitative descriptive approach was used for the research, while a SWOT analysis was performed to formulate alternative strategies that are potentially useful in developing tourism in the area. The study results showed that the Sapta Pesona concept had not been fully realized and revealed potential tourist spots and attractions for the island. These spots include a white ship, an old church, bark carvings, water, and cultural tourism, as well as the Lake Sentani Festival. Alternative strategies that were found useful in developing Asey Besar Island tourism objects are the provision of road infrastructure and building tourism support facilities, such as cafes, homestays, and Instagramable photo spots.
