As the ER can inject energy to the grid, it must have an integrated anti-islanding method (according to IEEE1547.1). This paper gives a short overview of the islanding detection methods. Recent trends and methods will be analyzed and explained. As a result, a suitable anti-islanding strategy for an ER will be developed that complies with all reliability and power quality requirements of the NZEB. The proposed anti-islanding method was analyzed and verified by the computer simulations.","PeriodicalId":317349,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 60th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":"219 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122631946","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless there are limited number of solutions allowing to control it by using hourly data (like electrical power consumption, room temperatures, humidity, CO2 levels, heat energy, ventilation system pressures, outdoor climate data). This paper deals with 6R2C mathematical model development, that uses real-time data obtained from IoT sensors, practical measurements and experimental testing results achieved during summer period, when the cooling energy is needed. Measurements and experiments were conducted for certain building zone, which is PN4 ventilation zone for the most electrical energy consuming HVAC system of the building, located also in the south side and having most impact by the sun radiation. Using simplified modeling and input data approach, CV(RMSE) estimation of the model for daily consumption for the period from 8 August to 8 September resulted in a value of 28.62%. In monthly period average energy consumption error (single month) is 0.14%.","PeriodicalId":317349,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 60th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127157106","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study analyzes EU-28 statistical data on retail prices for the medium households and industries, for the years 2008–2017, a period of economic slowdown. We focus especially on six countries, Austria, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Latvia and Spain and examine retail prices against the degree of renewable energy sources (RES) penetration and the market liberalization in each country. We also examine the cases of three Western Balkan countries that still have a very low degree of liberalization. The increasing percentage of RES in electricity generation, the number of retailers and the market share of the main retailer are analyzed with respect to the retail electricity price for the period studied. In spite of the different specifics of each country's economy, there are certain common trends. The price increase has been found to be the result of levies and taxes, rather than the energy cost, with the burden carried mostly by households. In the cases studied here, the increase correlates with either the increase in RES or increased competition or both depending on the market structures in place during the examined period and the maturity and performance of the measures towards a liberalized electricity market and a low carbon economy.","PeriodicalId":317349,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 60th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134174874","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Defining the load of the power supply by its power over time requirements and using some approximations (combination of linear and constant segments only for the power profile of the load) allows the circuit to be analytically solved and expressions found for the capacitor′s voltage and current over time. These analytical results can be used to choose the supercapacitor size by postulating only its initial and final voltage depending on the segment. The approach used allows for sizing the supercapacitor for wide variety of applications by only requiring the power demand of the load to be known. The model is verified by means of simulation and experimental results.","PeriodicalId":317349,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 60th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131793134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Determination of the total cost of active power losses and methods to reduce power losses in low-voltage distribution networks","authors":"J. Armas, A. Ivanov","doi":"10.1109/RTUCON48111.2019.8982319","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/RTUCON48111.2019.8982319","url":null,"abstract":"Accurate determination of power losses at the design stage is very important for optimizing the network structure, choosing the places and number of substations and cable cross-sections. Losses in low-voltage distribution networks for different sources account for 2-4% of the total energy consumption. Reducing losses leads to lower CO2 emissions. This paper proposes a methodology for comparative calculation of losses in low-voltage distribution networks to select economically optimal network configurations and cable cross-sections at the design stage. The paper assesses the main factors that contribute to reduce losses of active power. The software used allows the designer to create various versions of network models for their comparative analysis and calculate the losses of active power in the cables, taking into account the proximity and skin effects. As a result the designer gets all the necessary parameters to select the final, economically optimal design of a network. These parameters are the predicted total cost of losses for the estimated operating life for each variant of network and the difference in the cost of building a network for each variant relative to the base variant. The purpose of the present publication is to introduce a practical method to be used in the MeteorSpec PRO software when calculating power losses in low-voltage distribution networks (in symmetrical three-phase low-voltage radial TN-systems), considering the specific characteristics of these networks. The proposed technique is based on determinations of active energy losses, which are calculated by load curves of consumers taking into account actual operating temperatures of conductors.","PeriodicalId":317349,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 60th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":"360 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132347028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
