This is because the model is still the conventional learning, the students just listen to the material without any direct learning experience. Problem Solving Model emphasizes student activity by utilizing the real environment developed as a learning medium. Picture selected as a learning medium because it is universal, not bound by the limitations of language. The conditions pretest showed only 50% of students who reach the KKM, with an average value of class 73,5. PTK results showed an increase in the skills of teachers, student activities, and student learning outcomes in social studies. In the first cycle mean the percentage of teachers' skills 80% with either category, increased by 7% in the second cycle as much as 87% with very good category. The percentage of student activity first cycle as much as 78% in both categories increased 13% in the second cycle as much as 91% in the excellent category. Speaking is considered as the most difficult skill since in Indonesia English plays as an international language. For that reason, the lecturers have to select the appropriate teaching techniques in order to gain the students’ attention and motivation. One of the techniques is English Debate. The objective of this study is to know whether English Debate can improve the students’ speaking skill. This study belongs to classroom action research which is applied for the ESA (English Students Association) of the fourth semester students of English Education Department of Muria Kudus University in the academic year 2014/2015. In the class, the students are taught by using English Debate technique. The result of this study shows that the students’ mean score of cycle 1 is 69.28 and it can be categorized into sufficient. Then the writers continued to cycle 2. The result of the students’ mean score of speaking ability is 80.14 and it can be categorized into good. It can be concluded that English Debate technique can be used by the English teachers/lecturers in the English class to improve students speaking skill. In the English Debate, there is a topic that force the debaters to speak in English. In addition, English Debate technique can also be used to improve students’ vocabulary. Keyword: Speaking, English Debate ABSTRAK Ada beberapa teknik pembelajaranyang dapat digunakan oleh guru/dosen Bahasa Inggris untuk meningkatkan kemampuan Bahasa Inggris terutama berbicara (speaking).Speaking dianggap sebagai kemampuan yang paling sulit karena di Indonesia Bahasa Inggris merupakan bahasa internasional. Berdasarkan alas an tersebut, dosen harus memilih teknik pembelajaran yang tepat untuk meningkatkan perhatian dan motivasi mahasiswa. Salah satu teknik pengajaran tersebut adalah teknik English Debate. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah teknik English Debate dapat meningkatkan kemampuan speaking mahasiswa. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang diterapkan terhadap mahasiswa ESA (English Students Assiciation) semester 4 Pendidian Bahasa Inggris Universitas Muria Kudus tahun akademik 2014/2015. Selamaa proses pembelajaran, mahasiswa diajar dengan menggunakan teknik English Debate. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-ratanya mahasiswa si siklus 1 adalah 69,28 dan dapat dikategorikan menjadi cukup. Kemudian peneliti melanjutkan ke siklus 2. Hasil nilai rata-rata nilaispeaking mahasiswa adalah 80,14 dan dapat di kategorikan menjadi baik. Berdasarkan data diatas dapat disimpulkan bahwa teknik English Debate dapat digunakan bagi guru/dosen Bahasa Inggris untuk meningkatkan meningkatkan kemampuan/speaking mahasiswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SD Tumpangkrasak 2 Kecamatan Jati Kabupaten Kudus dengan subyek penelitian siswa kelas III dan fokus penelitian pada keaktifan dan prestasi belajar IPS. Data dikumpulkan dengan teknik observasi partisipasif, pengukuran hasil tes dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa presentase keaktifan siswa pada siklus I yaitu 74,5% dengan kriteria baik mengalami peningkatan pada siklus II yaitu 77,5%. Adapun persentase ketuntasan prestasi belajar pada siklus I naik menjadi 66%, dan pada siklus II naik lagi menjadi 83,33%. Pentingnya media hadir dalam pembelajaran merupakan alternatif untuk memunculkan rangsangan, keaktifan, keterampilan yang baru bagi siswa dan mengetahui bentuk nyata terhadap aplikasi pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan tipe pemaparan deskriptif. Subyek pada penelitian ini merupakan siswa sekolah dasar yang ada di Kecamatan Dawe Kabupaten Kudus. Pengumpulan data menggunakan simak catat, teknik pustaka, observasi, dan wawancara. Teknik pemeriksaan keabsahan data menggunakan trianggulasi teori. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan penggunaan film animasi dapat digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran tematik terpadu pada siswa sekolah dasar. Kedua, pembelajaran tematik terpadu dapat diaplikasikan dengan film animasi yang didalamnya menceritakan mengenai tema pembelajaran yang dipelajari siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian true experimental dengan randomized pretest-postest control group design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pengaruh positif sebagai dampak mengimplementasikan pembelajaran tematik berwawasan multiple intellegence terhadap hasil belajar dan karakter siswa. Rata-rata hasil belajar kelompok eksperimen lebih tinggi daripada kelompok kontrol. Siswa juga merasa senang karena pembelajaran yang dilakukan sesuai dengan kecerdasan yang mereka miliki. Problem based learning is learning with the students problem practical as based on the study or the students study taught their problem. The students in this model are must to active to solve a problem.the result of study is change of the student behaviour based on cognitif, afective and psikomotoric after teaching and learning process. The action of hypothesis is the result of study civic education taught by using Problem Based Learning of the sixth grade students of SD 3 Jekulo Kudus can be increase. This research is classroom action research in the sixth grade students of SD 3 Jekulo Kudus with the subject of the research is 20 students with 2 cycles, every cycle contains two meetings. Independent Variable of the reasearch is Problem Based Learning, dependent variable is the result of study of civic education. In collecting the data using interview, notes, observation, test and documentation. Analyze the data by using qualitative and quantitative. The result of this research showed that Problem Based Learning can increase the result of civic education. This result can see from the indicator. The percentage of the result study of cognitive test evaluation from cycle 1 is 60% increase 85%, then cycle 2 with the average class cycle I 75,75 become 80.50.The result study of afective in cycle 1 is 67, the qualification is good become 82 in cycle II the qualification is good. The result of study of psikomotoric of cycle I is 60%with qualification is good become 85% with qualification is good in cycle II. The conclusion of this research is Problem Based Learning can be increase the result study of civic education of the sixth grade students of SD 3 Jekulo Kudus. The suggesstion of this research is, the students must be active and add positive study to get good result of study.
