The aim of the article is to find out whether and to what extent working capital and working capital management influence the size of companies and the profitability of companies operating in the manufacturing industry and the wholesale and retail sector. The generalized method of moments (GMM method) will be used to determine the goal of the article. Annual data for the period 2008 to 2021 of companies operating according to the CZ-NACE classification in the manufacturing industry and the retail and wholesale trade sectors will be included in the research. Using the GMM method, a statistically significant relationship between working capital management on the one hand and the profitability and size of companies on the other hand was demonstrated. Cash conversion cycle, current assets, short-term liabilities and working capital have an impact on the size and profitability of businesses in the Czech Republic.","PeriodicalId":315784,"journal":{"name":"Acta academica karviniensia","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127167164","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The literature discusses the information format as one of the moderating factors with qualitative and pictorial information possibly weakening the decoy effect. To test this, this contribution uses the washing machine scenario of decoy effect previously examined where the decoy effect was found to not influence the consumer behaviour. In this paper, the experimental conditions were broadened when it comes to the image format accompanying the alternative description to examine the influence of specific images on the consumer choices to explain the previously reported failure to detect the decoy effect. In total, choices of 959 respondents from a set of the washing machines were collected and analysed using Chi-squared test. The current results indeed indicate the positive decoy effect when the product image was variable in the study design. However, no evidence was found that respondents’ choices would be directly influenced by the product image.","PeriodicalId":315784,"journal":{"name":"Acta academica karviniensia","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128514904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the contribution is to find out what benefits employers offer to motivate their employees and whether they are effective from the employees' point of view. The intention is to find out the differences in the perception of the importance of benefits between genders and age categories of employees. The main data collection method used is a sociological survey in the form of a questionnaire survey, in which 263 employees of Slovak companies participated. The results are evaluated using descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis test, Pearson's Chi-square test and Cramer's V. The research results confirm that employees have different motivational factors and benefits that they consider important. Gender plays a role in deciding benefit requirements, but it is not the only factor. The topic of this paper is the financing of the SSE in France, where is created a financial system called 90/10 rule, where 5-10 % of assets must be invested in SSE. The aim of the paper is to describe and evaluate the French rule of the 90/10 financial mechanism in relation to the SSE. This paper is used literature review, method of analysis, and synthesis. Mandatory financing means a new financial resource for the SSE and its development. On the other hand, the mechanism restricts private choice about investment allocation and strategy. The limitation of the study is the unique experience of France with SSE. Further research can focus on the SSE portfolio and its profitability because it is an important factor for investors.","PeriodicalId":315784,"journal":{"name":"Acta academica karviniensia","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123853323","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the research is to examine the sentiment of Slovak households using HFCS micro data and its impact on household’s financial decision making. According to previous research, we assume that positive sentiment increases stock market participation. For the purpose of the research, we created a Sentiment index based on the survey data concerning economic expectations and life satisfaction, as well as Portfolio index based on the households’ assets structure. The empirical results indicate a positive and statistically significant influence of sentiment on households’ financial portfolios applying Logit and OLS estimates.","PeriodicalId":315784,"journal":{"name":"Acta academica karviniensia","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128015674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From 1998 to 2021 there were 1,319 granted investment incentives in total with 1,444 locations of implementation of the investment projects. The total amount of the supported investment projects reached nearly 983 billion CZK, and the applicants promised to create more than 203,000 new jobs. This paper evaluated the spatial distribution of the investment projects with granted investment incentive in the Czech Republic in the period 1998-2021. The spatial distribution was examined on the basis of three indicators calculated for the district level – the amount of investment per capita, the number of newly created jobs per 1,000 inhabitants and the state aid ceiling per capita. As the spatial distribution was investigated, spatial autocorrelation of each indicator was tested using the Moran test. In terms of calculated indicators, granted investment incentives in the Czech Republic were distributed unequally and tended to be clustered especially in the districts of the Ústí Region, the Central Bohemian Region and the Moravian-Silesian Region. The Moran test confirmed the presence of statistically significant spatial autocorrelation across all indicators related to granted investment incentives on the district level in the period 1998-2021.","PeriodicalId":315784,"journal":{"name":"Acta academica karviniensia","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127454171","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A multivariate analysis of the 2010 and 2015 European Survey on Working Conditions data (N=1,168) documents the differences in earnings across studied variables, such as gender, educational level, the skill level of profession, years of experience or perceived discrimination. The obtained results are interpreted in line with the prior research. It follows from the main findings that the highest earnings are observed among managerial professions and the lowest among the least skilled occupations. Returns to education are increasing with the obtained level of formal education and are highest for doctoral studies graduates. The positive impact has also years of experience and the number of working hours per week. Quite surprisingly, the conducted analysis does not prove any significant effect of discrimination (sexual orientation, religion, disability, race, ethnic background or colour) on individuals' earnings. The study might be of interest to the Czech labour market researchers and policymakers as it, besides the analysis, provides several future research suggestions.","PeriodicalId":315784,"journal":{"name":"Acta academica karviniensia","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132504449","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"EMPLOYING RPA AND AI TO AUTOMIZE ORDER ENTRY PROCESS WITH INDIVIDUAL AND SMALL-SIZED STRUCTURES: A SME BUSINESS CASE STUDY","authors":"A. Salmen","doi":"10.25142/aak.2022.017","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.25142/aak.2022.017","url":null,"abstract":": Digitalization is a megatrend which shows an even growing importance for industrial business development and marketing since the Corona pandemic. Its productivity-boosting and efficiency-raising effects have widely been researched in science. Especially SME have a backlog to enhance their digitalization level and take profit from digitalization measures, because they lack the necessary tacit knowledge and their process environment is characterized a small number of repetitions, but a high level of individual arrangement. Therefore, their processes are difficult to be standardized and digitalized. AI (Artificial Intelligence) and RPA (Robotic Process Automation) are 2 digital technologies that can be a tool to overcome these difficulties and automize also processes that are individual and not much repetitive, in order to gain advantage of automation also for these processes. The use of AI and RPA could therefore become a driver of organizational marketing performance. Unfortunately, the use of AI and RPA which is a relatively new tool, has not been researched in the particular context of a typical SME order entry process, which is characterized by relatively few repetition and a high degree of unstructured data. There is a huge gap in understanding the role which AI and RPA could play for this task and other similar tasks in order to improve productivity of SME’s administrational processes. The objective of this work is to measure the input of a combined RPA and AI application, which has been developed basing on scientific findings, on the performance of the order entry process, hypothesizing a time economy of >50% towards classical ways of working. It is a second objective to conclude which role RPA and AI could have for similar business cases and which input it could generally have for business performance of industrial SME, linked to its input on administrational processes. Therefore, this article measures and explores the input of a self-developed RPA and AI tool on a SME order entry process, based on primary data from process time registrations. In a case study of SME in Germany, data has been collected from daily order entry process. Productivity criteria have been measured and compared if using the classical order entry tool, and if using the new AI application. The result is that the new AI tool shows a significant time economy (>50%), payback of less than 3 years and is therefore able to improve organizational performance. However, other doubts about the superiority of RPA-AI assisted tools over traditional ways of working, especially within SME, remain.","PeriodicalId":315784,"journal":{"name":"Acta academica karviniensia","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121039109","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
