This study aimed to describe the histological findings of patients who underwent endometrial biopsy to estimate the most common endometrial diseases in Nepali women.\u0000Materials and methods: This retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted using hospital records, and included females who underwent endometrial biopsy at a tertiary level hospital from 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2020. Histopathological findings were categorized into eight groups, and patients were divided into three age groups to obtain the relative occurrence of each type of disease at different ages\u0000Results:342 female patients were included in the study, among which 97 were pregnancy-related and 245 were non-pregnancy-related. The mean age of the patients was 41.63 years (± 11.45 years). In 28 cases (8.2%) of the 342 total cases, the endometrial biopsy sample was deemed inadequate. Among the non-pregnancy-related cases, normal physiological changes were the most common reported finding (n=93, 38.0%), followed by abnormal physiologic changes (n=68, 27.8%). Premalignant conditions (n=15, 6.1%) and malignancy (n=5, 2.0%) were less common.\u0000Conclusions: Normal physiological changes and disordered proliferative endometrium are the most common findings in an endometrial biopsy. Endometrial hyperplasia and malignancy are less common, and usually found in women more than 40 years in age.

However, these lesions had a different diagnostic interpretation on histopathology examination. Therefore our study focused on the lesions clinically resembling the presentation of epidermoid cyst in the scalp region.\u0000Materials and Methods: Forty-one cases of scalp lesions with a clinical diagnosis of epidermoid cyst over 2 years were reviewed. Details of the patients such as clinical diagnosis, age, gender, duration, gross findings, and histopathology diagnosis were obtained from the medical and histopathology records.\u0000Results: Epidermoid cysts diagnosed both clinically and on histopathology examination accounted for 29.26% whereas the clinical mimickers constituted 70.73%. The mean age of the patient was 35-years with an equal sex ratio. The commonest location was the parietal region (41.37%). Benign and malignant lesions consisted of 97.56% and 2.4% respectively. A trichilemmal cyst was the most common clinical mimicker diagnosed.\u0000Conclusions: Clinicians should be aware of wide differential diagnosis of epidermoid cyst in the scalp region as the management and outcome vary with each lesion. Histopathology examination proved to be a diagnostic tool in differentiating these lesions.

The objective of the study was to report a rare case of benign multicystic peritoneal mesotheliomas. We report an incidental finding of multiple free-floating peritoneal masses in a pregnant primigravida woman with a normal antenatal course who underwent a cesarean section in a rural hospital setting in India for fetal distress. The masses were removed from the peritoneal cavity during the surgery and subjected to histopathological examination and found to be benign multicystic peritoneal mesotheliomas. Immunohistochemistry of the cysts revealed that the mesothelial cells lining the cysts were positive for calretinin and WT1 and negative for CD31.

The cells contributing to an effective immune response are CD8+ T cells of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes. The present study aimed to assess the tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes on colorectal cancer and correlate them with other prognostic parameters.\u0000Material and methods: Cases of colectomy from April 2019 -Sept 2020 with a diagnosis of colorectal carcinoma were included in the study. Parameters i.e age, sex, size, location of the tumor, lymphovascular invasion, perineural invasion, T stage, N status, histological tumor type, and grade, resected margins were retrieved from the database of the department. The intensity of overall inflammatory cell reaction at the invasive tumor front was evaluated in H and E stained sections.\u0000Results: 56 cases of colorectal cancers were reported during the study period with M: F ratio of 1.15:1. The age ranged from 23-79years with a mean age of 54.3years. The tumors were predominant in the colon (50 cases) than the rectum. Colonic carcinomas had high-grade tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes as compared to rectal carcinomas. The grade of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes was statistically significantly associated with T, N status, and grade of tumors.\u0000Conclusions: Inflammatory reactions at the invasive tumor front can be easily analyzed in resection specimens of colorectal cancers without additional costs. Low-grade tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes are indicative of high-stage tumors with a poor prognosis. Hence, the inclusion of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes in pathological reports for risk stratification of the patient is mandatory.

Even after extensive immunophenotyping, a rare and heterogeneous subgroup that cannot be readily classified as Mixed Phenotypic Acute leukemia in which the blasts exhibit the antigens of more than one lineage. This study aimed to analyze the incidence of Mixed Phenotypic Acute Leukemia and correlate the clinicopathological and immunophenotypic characteristics.\u0000Materials and methods: This study was done in a tertiary health institute. Complete clinical details of patients were taken followed by morphological evaluation including peripheral blood, bone marrow aspiration, and biopsy was done. Immunophenotyping was performed on the FACS Canto II Flow cytometer. The diagnosis of Mixed Phenotypic Acute Leukemiawas based on the World Health Organization 2008 classification.\u0000Results: We analyzed 7 cases, which include 57.14%of B/Mixed Phenotypic Acute Leukemia and 42.86% of T/Mixed Phenotypic Acute Leukemia. The male to female ratio was 0.4:1. Hematological parameters including hemoglobin, total leucocyte count, platelets count, and blasts percentage were correlated. On flow cytometry, all cases were positive for cMPO while B/Myeloid cases were positive for CD19 and at least one B cell marker. T/Myeloid cases were positive for cCD3 and CD7 in all cases besides other myeloid and T cell markers.\u0000Conclusions: The frequency of Mixed Phenotypic Acute Leukemia in our study was found to be 2.7%, in concordance with published data (2.2-2.6%). Strict diagnostic criteria should be followed in the diagnosis because it originates from primitive multipotent progenitors which are resistant to treatment and lineage plasticity.

One of the important factors involved in infertility is the poor quality of endometrium which leads to death of the ovum before and after implantation. Glycogen is known to be a direct source of nutrients for the early conceptus and its depletion may result in inadequate preparation of endometrium around the time of implantation and leading to infertility. \u0000Materials and methods: This is a prospective study conducted at a tertiary care hospital for 2 years. The study included 75 cases of infertility (primary and secondary). Relevant data were collected from all the 75 biopsied infertile cases during the study period. Periodic acid Schiff stain was performed on all cases to detect the amount of glycogen in the endometrium. The findings were compiled, analyzed, and compared with other studies.\u0000Results: Primary infertility accounted for 77.3%and Secondary infertility 22.7% of the 75 cases. On histology, anovulatory cycles accounted for 52% of cases. In the remaining cases, 38.7% showed secretory phase, 4%cases each showed luteal phase defect and hyperplasia, and 1.3% tubercular endometritis. Glycogen content of the endometrium was (1+) in 54.6%, (2+) in 9.3%, (3+) in 9.3% and (4+) in 26.8% in the infertility patients.Glycopenia was seen in 12% of the 75 cases studied.\u0000Conclusions: Endometrial factors are important causes of infertility and depletion of glycogen, that can be corrected by hormonal therapy to improve the fertility potential needs to be evaluated in all cases of infertility.
