It seems difficult to accomplish this process in real time using only one computer. In our study, we propose to get 3D scene images inside and outside of surgery environment in real time and transfer them into different places. As known, 3D reconstruction needs intensive calculations. Nowadays, using distributed parallel systems are getting increase. Therefore, we investigate the performance rates using a group of inexpensive inert computers which work as a distributed parallel system supposed to be established in a medical environment.","PeriodicalId":315147,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE 15th Signal Processing and Communications Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130975698","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since the channel estimation and CFO tracking performance of the simple least mean squares (LMS) is found to be poorer, a fuzzy based step-size controller is employed to increase speed and accuracy of LMS training. The simulation results show that the proposed method increases the performance of the LMS algorithm significantly and converges to the performances of the RLS algorithm.","PeriodicalId":315147,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE 15th Signal Processing and Communications Applications","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126554074","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, we give a brief review of literature pointing to the non-Gaussian features of gene expression data in the form of impulsiveness and asymmetry. We note that several previous publication note the Pareto tail behaviour in the data. We present a new model, namely the stable distribution to describe the observed statistical features of the data which is a subfamily of Pareto-tail distributions.","PeriodicalId":315147,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE 15th Signal Processing and Communications Applications","volume":"267 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121337712","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A car plate recognition system consist of three main division. These are; detecting the plate location, segmenting the characters and recognizing the characters. Processing the whole picture in order to determine plate location takes lots of time. Instead of processing whole picture, determining candidate plate locations and processing these areas increase achievement of the application and takes less time consuming. Plates background and character's colour are used to determine candidate plate locations. Character segmentation is achieved with calculating column sum vector and artificial neural network (ANN) is used to recognise characters.","PeriodicalId":315147,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE 15th Signal Processing and Communications Applications","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131258761","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because of the high number of slices, manual segmentation of the liver is time consuming, tedious and depends on the experience. On the other hand, the automatic segmentation of the liver is very difficult task because of the gray level similarities of adjacent organs, injection of contrast media and partial volume effect problems. In this paper, we propose an algorithm that can handle these problems. Developed algorithm involves preprocessing, classification and post-processing stages. The proposed method is applied to 17 donor datasets and its performance is evaluated by area error rate calculations.","PeriodicalId":315147,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE 15th Signal Processing and Communications Applications","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133439416","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using the proposed criterion, it is possible to determine linear dispersive space-time block codes that are able to work in high rates such as R = 8 or 16 bit/channel use. These new codes differ from previously proposed linear dispersed codes by the simplicity of the transmitter design, in that, every antenna transmits strictly from a QAM constellation. Furthermore, the criterion aims to maximize the channel capacity by the help of crucial equation of number of symbols = number of channel uses X min(number of transmit antennas.number of receive antennas) and to minimize the bit-error probability at the same time. The minimization of symbol-error probability is achieved by the minimization of bit-error probability. We also produced some simulation results for comparison of the performances of various linear dispersive codes to strengthen our claims.","PeriodicalId":315147,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE 15th Signal Processing and Communications Applications","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132337105","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, a fast Hough transform approximation by use of a sliding mask is developed. The approximation decomposes the lines at different orientations into distinct bitplanes. Barcode localization is achieved by considering the high density locations in the bitplanes via morphology and profiling. The time complexity of the proposed approximation is lower than the previously proposed fast Hough transform, though it achieves the equal performance in localization of barcodes.","PeriodicalId":315147,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE 15th Signal Processing and Communications Applications","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134270515","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Transformed domain has been found more suitable to hide the watermark data. For watermark embedding, transformed domain based watermarking schemes are quite robust against those attacks which anyhow do not have large impact on perceptual quality like JPEG compression. This paper explores an opportunity to improve the robustness of transformed domain based watermarking schemes by preprocessing the image. This attempt is to find whether we can make our images strong enough against such attacks in advance. We are considering histogram equalization attack that has impact on perceptual quality.","PeriodicalId":315147,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE 15th Signal Processing and Communications Applications","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134472883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
