Several sensors attached to the system such as GPS receiver combining with control module enables navigation and positional information to be obtained by the pilot on ground. However, due to its notorious poor quality image acquisition, it is vital that the UAV has precise information. This study is divided into several phases' namely planning, equipment and lab test and also data collection using UAV on-board GPS. The quality of GCPs used in UAV images processing is an indicator of the degree of accuracy that images acquired using UAV could produce. The results were analyzed using linear equation, histogram and normal probability plot. To achieve the desired accuracy using UAV and the on-board GPS during flight, a study is carried out in order to determine precise positioning of the devices on stationary object to assess the accuracy of on-board GPS in static environment, before the UAV could carry out a flight mission so as to define the acceptable accuracy for low-cost projects.","PeriodicalId":314829,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 12th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Its Applications (CSPA)","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114960858","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Disturbance can cause the process (controlled variable) to deviate from their respective set-point and at the same time tracking the set-point is quite impossible. The controller is said to be good if it has the ability to reject the disturbance, as this will ensure the stability of the controller itself. This paper presents the performance analysis of Model Predictive Controller (MPC) to reject the disturbance added into the system while controlling the position of cylinder's stroke for pneumatic actuator system. The disturbance was added into the system in order to test the performance of the controllers in rejecting the disturbance. The input constraint was also applied to the MPC algorithm to make the controller operates closer to the limits. In this paper, the performance of MPC in rejecting the disturbance as well as controlling the position of the pneumatic actuator system was compared with Proportional-Integral (PI) controller. Simulation results show the constrained MPC is more effective than unconstrained MPC and PI controller in producing better transient response and minimizing error.","PeriodicalId":314829,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 12th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Its Applications (CSPA)","volume":"374 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120890925","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Heavy seasonal rains cause the Kelantan River to overflow and flood the surroundings area. In this paper, the application of feed forward multi-layer perceptron (FFMLP) in neural networks for flood water level prediction is presented. The method focused on the neuron variation in hidden layer. By using measured data of three stations; Tualang, Kuala Krai and Kusial, FFMLP neural networks was developed. The inputs are water level river at three stations and output is water level river at Kusial station. The numbers of neuron in hidden layer were varied from one to ten and Levenberg Marquadt algorithm is used to train the network. The performance of network was evaluated using Mean Square Error (MSE). It is shown that three neurons in hidden layer afforded the lowest MSE, 0.043. The Regression, R for training network is closed to 1 (0.991), supports that the model is acceptable and able in predicting water level at Kusial station.","PeriodicalId":314829,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 12th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Its Applications (CSPA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131393520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Capacitive power transfer (CPT) system has been introduced as an attractive alternative to the traditional inductive coupling method. This is due to the CPT benefits of simple topology, fewer components, better EMI performance and robustness to surrounding metallic elements. In this work, a Class-E resonant inverter together with impedance matching network has been utilized as a high frequency ac power source because of its ability to perform the dc-to-ac inversion efficiently. It helps the CPT system to achieve a maximum power transfer. The CPT system is designed and simulated by using Proteus 8 Professional software. The validity of the proposed concept has been verified by conducting a laboratory experimental CPT system. It generates a 9.5W output power through a combined interface (PCB plate) capacitance of 2.82nF, at an operating frequency of 1MHz, with 95.44% efficiency. Also, the proposed CPT system with impedance matching network allow variation to the load while maintaining the efficiency over 80%.","PeriodicalId":314829,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 12th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Its Applications (CSPA)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123872072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

All the Arabic phonemes are uttered by Malay speakers. This paper aims to discover the pronounciation of Arabic phonemes based /a:/ vowel by Malay subjects. 8 Malay speakers have articulated 224 tokens of Consonant-Vowel syllables. Audacity 2.0.3 software is utilised in order to record all the tokens by using SAMSON C03U USB multi-pattern condenser microphone. The speech analysis software PRAAT is used for extracting formant frequencies. Initially, the tokens are manipulated with Spectral subtraction to denoise the tokens. Subsequently, F1, F2, F3, F4 and F5 are measured for each phoneme. The first two formant frequencies (F1 and F2) are employed to represent the phonemes in the vowels-space. The vowel-space has shown that the phonemes are located in central-mid position. As the subjects are not trained to utter the Arabic phonemes with vowels, the vowel-space shows that the speakers are tended to articulate the vowels as a /a/ vowel in some phonemes and in some other phonemes as a /a:/ vowel.","PeriodicalId":314829,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 12th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Its Applications (CSPA)","volume":"239 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121314574","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
