This study aimed to analyze the price volatility of ornamental plants with high economic value, such as orchids, adenium, aglaonema, anthurium, and palm. This study also analyzed the long-term and short-term relationship between the production and prices of these ornamental plants. The data used were the productions and prices of orchid, adenium, aglaonema, anthurium, and palm at the producer level from 2012 to 2020 obtained from the Agriculture Office of Batu Municipality. Volatility analysis was carried out using the ARCH/GARCH method, the long-term relationship was analyzed using the Johansen cointegration test, and the short-term relationship was carried out using the Error Correction model. The results of volatility analysis showed that all the ornamental plants studied had low price volatility. In addition, the productions and prices of the ornamental plants were cointegrated in the long run, but only the orchid had a short-term relationship with an adjustment period of 2.6 months.","PeriodicalId":31351,"journal":{"name":"Agraris Journal of Agribusiness and Rural Development Research","volume":"16 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78903609","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several previous studies stated that volatility was caused by weather effect on red chili production and shocks on public consumption. However, the other research stated that volatility was caused by the government’s import of red chili. This research aimed to analyze the price volatility of red chili in Semarang Regency on January 2019 to February 2020. The ARCH-GARCH method was applied in this study. This research showed that the price volatility of red chili occurred at the beginning, middle, and end of the year due to climate change, changes in public consumption patterns on religious holidays, and oversupply. However, the prevalence of Indonesia’s imports of red chili did not affect the price volatility. The government is suggested to implement a mapping policy and planting patterns to ensure the supply of red chili.","PeriodicalId":31351,"journal":{"name":"Agraris Journal of Agribusiness and Rural Development Research","volume":"39 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78626280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The processing problems have constrained the volume of market demand. In contrast, marketing problems have disturbed the fulfillment of industrial and consumer demand for raw materials, thereby declining economic activity and profit. This research aimed to examine the leverage factors affecting the sustainability of the seaweed agro-industry integrated between sub-systems in Central Sulawesi Province. The collected numerical and non-numerical data were analyzed using the multidimensional scaling approach of the RAP-Seaweed technique. The results revealed that social conflict, labor absorption, the low value-added of the seaweed processing, and the high cost of raw material procurement caused the unsustainable development of the seaweed agro-industry. Therefore, government policies are required to facilitate investment in the seaweed industry, supported by enhancing the quality of transportation infrastructure, the use of local workers, and the security stability of the local area","PeriodicalId":31351,"journal":{"name":"Agraris Journal of Agribusiness and Rural Development Research","volume":"17 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76717566","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For many decades, the Indonesian rice market has been intervened by the price regulation. The Indonesian government had set two types of rice price policies of 2016 and 2017 with the argument of price stabilization during the last five years. This study aimed to investigate the effect of price policies of 2016 and 2017 on the domestic price dynamics in the Indonesian rice market. This study used daily price series taken from the Cipinang Wholesale Rice Market in Jakarta within the period of October 1st, 2014, until February 12th, 2018 covering 10 rice varieties. The role of price policy on the price dynamics was evaluated by using a multivariate error correction model (MVECM). The empirical findings confirmed that generally, these price policies had different effects on the price dynamics which proposed different reactions from the different rice varieties both in magnitude and signs. The variations were also found regarding the short-run and long-run behavior. Generally, the findings suggested a relatively small elasticity of the policy on the prices.","PeriodicalId":31351,"journal":{"name":"Agraris Journal of Agribusiness and Rural Development Research","volume":"49 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88687756","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research aimed to study the demand pattern of burger patties and determine a suitable forecasting method compared between quantitative and intervention forecasting methods. The actual demand was intervened by experts based on reasons such as supply shortage, holidays, promotion, and government projects. The daily sales of burger patties were collected for a year. Then, the data were divided into training and testing data. Later, time-series forecasting was performed by software. Then, the best forecasting method for daily data was selected between Individual forecasting and Top-Down forecasting. Similarly, for weekly data, the best forecasting method was compared between aggregate forecasting and Bottom-Up forecasting. Then, repeat the process for the intervened sales data. The result revealed that the mean absolute percentage error was improved after intervention by about 3.64%-58.83%. The combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches improved forecast accuracy. In addition, the aggregate level or weekly sales forecast had higher forecast accuracy than the disaggregated level. The Bottom-Up forecast performs better than the aggregate forecast. Hence, we recommended the company plans based on weekly data and implement Every Low Price to reduce the demand fluctuation.","PeriodicalId":31351,"journal":{"name":"Agraris Journal of Agribusiness and Rural Development Research","volume":"11 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81185563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most, unfortunately, recent reports show decreased agricultural productivity in most developing countries. In South Africa, the Land restitution program was introduced to restore land to people dispossessed by apartheid government after 1913. However, production in the restitution farms has declined. This study aimed to address the non-performance of the restitution farms in Waterberg District and evaluate their production performance. A questionnaire was administered to gather quantitative data on the farms’ production and the benefits accrued from the farms. Data was captured using Geographic Information System (GIS), and then a remote sensing analysis method was used to map restitution farms to illustrate farms performance. Statistical Package for the Social Scientists (SPSS) version 25 was used to compute statistics on-farm production. About 83% of beneficiaries have not benefitted from the 32 farms, while 61.6% did not have markets, and 64% reported a lack of farms income. Generally, lack of farm production impeded beneficiaries from receiving benefits and employment. The study recommended that private organizations and sector departments work together to assist beneficiaries with capacity building, marketing of farm produce, and funds to improve production.","PeriodicalId":31351,"journal":{"name":"Agraris Journal of Agribusiness and Rural Development Research","volume":"3 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76464800","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Previous research has revealed that understanding farmers' perceptions of innovation is essential for appropriate interventions to change their behavior. In DIY, the surveys were conducted in 2016 with 257 males and 93 females of farmers groups member from 21 villages in Sleman, Bantul, and Kulonprogo Regency. The objective of the survey was to determine the effects of farmer's internal factors on the perception of ecological, social economy, and ethical (ESE) urgency as a component of sustainable horticulture practices. The findings from the ecological, social, and ethical dimensions among the farming community in DIY indicated that, directly and indirectly, the farmers can acknowledge and practice sustainable horticulture. However, this was altering several factors, most notably, motivation and the prospect of increased income. The important thing in extension work was motivation, and a major motivating factor was the possibility of increased agricultural income. This study suggests that extension education of achieving horticultural sustainability in DIY should be based on the motivation of farmers and thoughtfulness of their basic needs especially needs to have higher income.","PeriodicalId":31351,"journal":{"name":"Agraris Journal of Agribusiness and Rural Development Research","volume":"7 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74529802","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
