The author attempts to assess the danger and consequences of urbanization for modern human society. The paper formulates a typology of urban activism in the context of socio-philosophical discourse.
 The aim of the research is philosophical comprehension of human existence in an urbanized environment. In accordance with the purpose, the tasks are outlined: to characterize the “city man”; to identify the contradictory consequences of urbanization for a modern Human; to determine the influence of urbanization atpeople’s lifestyle; to analyze the typology of the activities of city residents which(the activities) transform the urban environment in the context of modern urbanism.
 Object: urbanism as a socio-philosophical phenomenon, subject: the existential dimension of Human in an urban environment.
 Methodology. To achieve this goal, general scientific methods were used: analysis and synthesis, analogies, classifications, as well as philosophical methods of cognition (dialectical and hermeneutic). The method of generalization of philosophical and sociological issueswas applied and in particular by using interdisciplinary approach. The means of visual anthropology (cinematography, photography) are engaged in the study to analyze the documentary series “Homo Urbanus” whichis of special scientific value as a source of important social knowledge.
 The originality of the study: the existential crisis was studied in the focus of urban anthropology, a classification of types of urban activism was proposed. Practical application. The article is devoted to the study of the translation of the language phenomenon baby talk. Baby talk is a linguistic phenomenon commonly used by parents when communicating with infants and young children. This linguistic phenomenon is characterized by the following features: simplified vocabulary, exaggerated intonations, repetitive sounds and words, rhythmic patterns, non-verbal communication.
 Purpose. The purpose of this article is to identify the features of the translation of the baby talk language phenomenon into Russian. To do this, it is necessary to identify the need and significance of the translation of the baby talk language phenomenon; identify the difficulties that translators may encounter in the process of translating the baby talk; identify strategies for translating the baby.
 Materials and methods. To solve the tasks set, both theoretical and practical research methods were used: analysis of the literature on the theory of translation and other aspects of translation studies; continuous sampling method for creating a bank of examples of the baby talk language phenomenon, analysis and interpretation of translation strategies for the language phenomenon baby talk.
 Results. Translating baby talk from one language to another can be challenging due to differences in language structures and cultural and contextual differences between the two languages. The translator may need to use various strategies, such as using existing words with similar meanings, creating new words or phrases, adapting the sounds and intonations of the source language, and providing additional context to convey meaning. The empirical basis of the study was 216 immersive materials of the Russia Today TV channel and 26 immersive materials of RIA Novosti. The study was implemented by the content analysis method. The technique of expert interviews was also used to collect information about the activities of the Directorate of New Media of MIA “Russia Today”.
 Results. The article analyzes Russian media experience, i.e., Russia Today channel and RIA Novosti, in using of virtual reality and augmented reality tools and 360° video technology; number, timing, genre and theme specifics and their popularity among the audience are determined; primary issues of Russian media in immersive content production are identified.

The study is relevant due to the fact that the interrogative sentence has a significant speech potential. This is a reason for opportunities of research. The purpose of the work is to classify interrogative sentences in English advertising texts on the topic of travel, using certain criteria. The use of interrogative sentences is one of the syntactic distinguishing features of English advertising texts. Interrogative sentences intrigue potential buyers, draw their attention to the advertised product or service. The novelty of the study lies in the fact that the question is not studied as a statement taken out of context, on the contrary, the target orientation of interrogative sentences is analyzed. The article reveals the communicative intentions of the questions in the analyzed narrative, and also identifies the types of questions in terms of the communicative intention they carry out. The questions are also compared by the frequency of use in the travel advertising narrative.
 Materials and methods. 136 questions were selected by the method of continuous sampling from English-language sites devoted to advertisements for travelling. The contextual method, the method of continuous sampling, distributive, pragmatic and quantitative methods were used in the analysis.
 Results. The results of the study showed that the communicative intentions of the questions in the English-language advertising narrative differ from the questions used in dialogic speech. The analysis of communicative intentions made it possible to distinguish three types of questions. They are guiding questions, the purpose of which is to focus the reader’s attention on something special, to encourage some actions; involving questions, the purpose of which is to attract the reader, to motivate them to read the advertisement; preliminary questions, the purpose of which is to simulate a dialogic speech with an expert in the field of tourism. The guiding question is the most frequent type of question in travel advertising narrative. This is due to the fact that the purpose of the advertisement is to encourage certain actions.
 Practical implications. In contemporary reality, digital technologies not only serve as a tool for the implementation of social practices, including commemorative practices, but also fill social gaps, offering alternative ways of interaction with the past in the digital space. In this context, computer games offer a valuable research space for interactions with the past, as they allow us to see the diversity and fluidity of the contemporary commemorative culture and practices.
 Purpose. This article is a review of the book Life and Death in the Virtual World. Digital Kinship, Nostalgia and Grief in Second Life” by Margaret Gibson and Clarissa Carden. The author critically examines the ethnographic research presented in the book, focusing on the specifics of memorial culture and commemorative practices in the space of Second Life computer game.
 Methods. The author relies on the philosophical-cultural approach, which includes methods of selection, generalization and typology, as well as the methodology of memory studies.
 Results. Three interesting observations of the authors of the reviewed book on digital memorial culture are highlighted: (1) autonomy of virtual norms in the process of experience of «powerless grief»; (2) possibility of realization of nostalgic experiences through virtual «time travel»; (3) formation of specific memorial culture in the space of «virtual third places», which is an alternative to the legitimized memorial culture. The author of the review typologizes the digital commemorative practices described in the book in terms of memory objects. It distinguishes commemorations associated with virtual history (implementing the nostalgia for the past of the game itself); imagined history (allowing to «play» history in the space of simulations) and reallife history.
 Scope of results. Electronic business communication is a complex and multifaceted subject for scientific research, since it operates in a specific computer-mediated environment that is characterized by dynamic development. In this regard, there is a need to develop the study of this linguistic phenomenon at the nexus of various scientific paradigms. Human society is continuously evolving and becoming more complex, which directly affects the language that society uses as one of its codes. Due to the improvement of information technologies in modern electronic business interaction, we can register significant changes in the lexical content, clichés typical of the officialese, and features of syntactic constructions. Considering the fact that electronic business communication determines the social and cultural specifics of the modern world business community, it seems relevant to study this form of speech from the ecolinguistic perspective.
 Purpose. The article deals with the linguistic and style-forming characteristics of modern electronic official business texts from the point of view of the linguo-ecological norm, and also examines the level of language digression in the genre of business e-mails.
 Materials and methods. The empiric material for the study is represented by a corpus of 70 units of international business e-mails in English, provided by one of the commercial organizations in Belgorod. In the course of the research, a functional-dynamic approach to the object, methods of comparative, stylistic, pragmalinguistic analysis, as well as the method of free associative experiment were applied.
 Results. The results of the study proved that the computer-mediated environment has a direct impact on the linguistic, structural and style-forming characteristics of official business electronic texts that function in this environment.
 Conclusion. The article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of the translation of slangisms in Anna Todd’s novel After. The authors define slang as fragile, unstable, non-codified, and often completely random collections of lexemes that exist in the colloquial sphere, reflecting the public consciousness of people belonging to a certain social or professional environment. Slangisms are units of the lexical and phraseological system of slang used in popular oral and written speech. This article compares the translations of the novel After by the modern American writer A. Todd into Russian. \u0000Purpose. The purpose of the article is to study the features of the translation of slangisms on the example of official and unofficial (amateur) translations of A. Todd’s novel After. \u0000Materials and methods. The material of the study is A. Todd’s novel After, its official translation by M. Belyakov and an unofficial translation taken from the Ficbook.com website, performed by an amateur translator. During the study, a set of complementary research methods was used: theoretical analysis of scientific research on the problem, continuous sampling method, analysis and interpretation of the results obtained. \u0000Results. Based on the analysis of the corpus of examples, it was revealed that when translating slangisms in A. Todd’s novel After, such translation techniques as variant correspondence, semantic development, and contextual translation were most often used. These forms are featured in the series of games «Fallout», «Second Life», and «World of Warships». The relevance of the study is associated with a wide controversy about nostalgia in the framework of modern memory studies. Further, it is proved that the communicative nature of media memory subordinates the cultural component (in its interpretation by J. Assman). Nostalgia in computer games differs significantly from nostalgia in cinema, which also actively uses repetition and emotional identification – it is less reflective and more oriented to affect. The glasnost policy pursued in the USSR in the second half of the 1980s made it possible to weaken censorship restrictions. At party conferences, in newspapers, television programs, previously forbidden topics began to be raised. One of them is the spread of bureaucracy in the organs of power in the Soviet Union. The fight against this phenomenon in the Soviet Union during the years of perestroika was practically not considered as a phenomenon in post-Soviet historiography within the Kirov region. The paper analyzes the articles of the newspaper “Kirovskaya Pravda”, condemning bureaucracy. The headings that highlighted the negative impact of red tape on society were studied.
 Purpose. Consider and analyze the articles of the newspaper “Kirovskaya Pravda” of the perestroika period, which denounce bureaucracy.
 Materials and methods. The basis for the study was the archival materials of the Central State Archive of the Kirov Region and the issue of the newspaper “Kirovskaya Pravda” – the organ of the Kirov Regional Committee of the CPSU and the Regional Council of People’s Deputies in the period under review. When analyzing sources, the method of content analysis was used.
 Results. The appearance in the newspaper “Kirovskaya Pravda” of columns devoted to exposing bureaucracy in the Kirov region was associated with the political trend set by M. S. Gorbachev in 1986. Most of the articles published in the periodical within the framework of sections “Bureaucratism - out of the way” and “Addresses of red tape”, were associated with complaints from tenants of apartment buildings about the work of housing and communal services enterprises. The reason for the irregular publication of articles was a change in the interest of the country’s leadership in this topic. The results of the content analysis allow us to conclude that both headings that denounced formalism contained similar stories of residents of the Kirov region who faced bureaucracy. The problems associated with the sphere of housing and communal services were the basis for articles related to red tape.
 Practical implications. Ibragimova","doi":"10.12731/2077-1770-2023-15-2-168-187","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.12731/2077-1770-2023-15-2-168-187","url":null,"abstract":"The relevance of the study is determined by several facts: firstly, in recent years, the interest of linguists in studying the expressiveness and emotionality of a child’s oral and written speech has enhanced; secondly, in modern teenage prose, which is part of the school curriculum, descriptions of children’s health defects and ailments are increasing; thirdly, consideration of expressiveness manifestation in the text at the syntactic level contributes to a better understanding of the ideological content of the work.
 The purpose of the study is to identify the main syntactic means of expressing expressiveness in modern children’s and youth prose, highlighting the ailments of child characters, and to determine their meaning based on the material of Eva Nemesh’s novel Turn Off Spelling.
 The scientific novelty of the study consists in the fact that the ways of expressing emotionality and evaluation when describing the ailments of young character in a work of modern Russian prose addressed to children are considered for the first time.
 Results. The current research describes the frequency syntactic means of expressiveness in the description of childhood ailments in E. Nemesh’s novel Turn Off Spelling. It was found that, when creating an asymmetric syntactic drawing, a children’s author refers to such expressive constructions as inverse word arrangement (32%), repetitions and its varieties (5%), segmentation (13%) and parcellation (22%), as well as to rhetorical constructions – 15% (rhetorical questions, exclamations, addresses and question-exclamation forms) and to ellipsis (2%).
