The experimental feed consisted of ammoniated rice straw and concentrate (40:60) weighing 4% DM body weight. This study was subjected to a randomized complete block design (RCBD), analyzed six groups of initial weight of sheep allotted into three treatment groups: 0%, 1%, and 2% CRM of DM feed. The measured variables were energy intake (EI), digestible energy (DE), metabolizable energy (ME), energy retention (RE), and efficiency of RE to EI, RE to DE, and RE to ME. The results showed significant effects (P<0.01) of supplementing CRM in the feed on EI, DE, ME, RE, and efficiency of RE to EI, RE to DE, and RE to ME. The orthogonal polynomial test revealed that a higher dose of CRM supplementation in the feed has quadraterally increased (P<0.01) EI, DE, ME, and RE with peak points on 0,62%; 0,80%; 1,05%; 1,09%, respectively, and linearly increased (P<0.01) the efficiency of RE to EI, RE to DE, and RE to ME. It was concluded that the addition of CRM at the level of 2% was able to produce optimal energy efficiency in sheep.","PeriodicalId":31305,"journal":{"name":"Buletin Peternakan","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45970158","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 100 weaned piglets (initial body weight = 7 ± 0.5 kg) were divided into 2 dietary treatments of (T1) control diet; and (T2) beta-mannanase supplemented diet. Each treatment was replicated 5 times with a pen of 10 piglets each following a completely randomized design. Feed and water were supplied ad libitum during the 30- day feeding trial. Fecal scores per pen were determined every morning on a daily basis; 1 pig per replicate was randomly selected for carcass evaluation. The results showed that there were no significant differences (P>0.05) in feed conversion ratio, fecal consistency scores, dressing percentage, and loin eye area between T1 and T2. Treatment T1 produced a greater body weight and gained weight faster compared to T2. In conclusion, beta-mannanase supplementation did not improve growth performance, fecal consistency, and carcass characteristics in weanling pigs. The amount of beta-mannanase was not enough to degrade the non-starch polysaccharides of the soybean meal.","PeriodicalId":31305,"journal":{"name":"Buletin Peternakan","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44533598","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Some of those in Indonesia are livestock manure, coconut husk, and sugarcane molasses. Utilization of this waste is limited, which is causing various environmental problems such as environmental pollution. The study is aimed to determine the quality of organic liquid fertilizer made by raw material from goat feces-chicken excreta-coconut husk with various sugarcane molasses concentrations (P0= 0%; P1= 5%; P3= 15%; P4= 20%; P5= 25%). The fermentation was carried out anaerobically for 21 days. The parameters of temperature, pH, organoleptic (color and odor), levels of C-organic, nitrogen (N) total, phosphorus (P) total, potassium (K) total, and biological tests were observed. Biological tests were conducted in the growth of mung bean (Vigna radiata) and spinach (Amaranthus tricolor). Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA. Variations in the addition of molasses sugarcane did not affect the liquid fertilizer's temperature and pH during fermentation. However, the treatments had positive effect on organoleptic test, C-organic, N total, P total, K total, and biological tests. The addition of 15% sugarcane molasses (P3) showed a dominating performance toward most of the parameters tested. The P3 treatment produced liquid fertilizer with a pleasant smell, and the contents of C-organic, total N, total P, and total K were 2.12%, 0.25%, 0.13%, and 0.13%, respectively. and produce spinach as a biological test with plant height, number of leaves, leaf width, stem diameter, and root length were 21.82 cm, 6.66 sheets, 3.59 cm, 4.09 mm, and 14.67 cm, respectively.","PeriodicalId":31305,"journal":{"name":"Buletin Peternakan","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41470587","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They have created a comprehensive system guided by the principles of animal welfare. The importation of BX cattle by companies in Indonesia will be bound by the Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System (ESCAS) regulations. This study aimed to evaluate the current increased price and fattening cost of feeder Brahman Cross (BX) cattle along with ESCAS additional cost on the price of slaughtered cattle and their welfare. Based on the results, the animal welfare assessment in the feedlot for 120 days were considered good, with the average value in the first month 86.40%, then in the second month 88.50%, in the third month 92.14%, and the fourth month 94.29%. Based on the calculations result of the Activity Based Costing (ABC) method in each supply chain, it is known that procurement costs, including the purchase of feeders, contributed to 94,0% of the total costs, while other costs were handling costs 2.70%, cost of ESCAS 1.56%, selling cost 1.52%, and the lowest, maintenance cost 0.24%. Therefore, to fatten Australian BX cattle, special strategies are needed, such as: optimizing stock in the feedlot; efficiency cost in feed ingredients without reducing quality; applying animal welfare rules to minimize handling costs and selecting vendors who want the lower price in providing ESCAS support facilities and establishing regular maintenance of the ESCAS supporting tools.","PeriodicalId":31305,"journal":{"name":"Buletin Peternakan","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45268000","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research method used in the current study was the survey method. The location was purposively selected in Pemalang Regency, the regency with the largest buffalo population in Central Java Province. Three subdistricts (20%) with formal and informal farmers' groups were selected, and there were Taman, Pemalang, and Belik subdistricts. One Village was selected for each subdistrict. Respondents for informal groups were taken by census method. Respondents in formal groups were taken by random sampling, and the number of respondents followed the number of informal groups. There were 136 farmers selected as respondents. (69 from each formal and informal groups). The data were analyzed using the descriptive and rank Spearman correlation methods. The results showed that the farmers' commitment of formal group and informal group members was in the moderate and low categories respectively based on the percentage score interval scaling method. Resources accessibility of formal and informal members of the farmers' group was in the low to moderate category, but the member of formal groups was slightly better. There was a strong correlation between the accessibility of resources with the commitment in the formal groups, whereas in the informal groups there was a moderate to strong correlation between the accessibility of resources with the commitment of buffalo farmers. Based on the conclusion, this study recommend that the government should assist the informal farmer group to establish formal group with the result that would increase farmers accessibility toward information, support, and capital. That condition would increase farmers commitment to continue their buffalo farm business in Pemalang Regency.","PeriodicalId":31305,"journal":{"name":"Buletin Peternakan","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49305652","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in the rumen unsaturated fatty acids undergoes biohydrogenation by rumen microbes, and the addition of fat in the feed has the potential to reduce fiber fermentation in the rumen which can have an impact on animal performance. This study aimed to determine the effect of the combination of protected and non-protected soybean oil supplementation on the characteristics of rumen fermentation, nutrient digestibility, and nitrogen balance of Garut sheep. Twelve male Garut lambs aged 13 months and weighing 29±3.23 kg were kept in a metabolic cage and divided into three groups. The basal diet of 60% King grass and 40% pollard bran was supplemented with protected and non-protected soybean oil with the ratio of 3%:0%, 1.5%:1.5%, and 0%:3%, respectively, based on the dry matter of ration. The data obtained were analyzed by One-Way ANOVA, followed by the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that supplementation had no effect on rumen fatty acids profile, microbial protein, ammonia concentration, total volatile fatty acids, acetat, propionate, butirat, and pH. The digestibilities of dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, crude fibre, and crude fat were not affected. Supplementation also had no effect on nitrogen balance. Hence supplementation of different levels of protected fats did not influence animal performance in Garut sheep.","PeriodicalId":31305,"journal":{"name":"Buletin Peternakan","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49416468","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
