The method, termed selective detection, observes errors caused by a simple zero- forcing (ZF) on different OFDM sub-carriers, and selectively performs list sphere detection (LSD) on sub-carriers with larger errors. Compared with the full-complexity LSD, the proposed algorithms could significantly reduce the receiver complexity at a small signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) loss. For example, simulation results for a MIMO-OFDM system using four transmitters and four receivers with 16 quadrature amplitude modulation (16-QAM) show that 93% of SNR gain that can be achieved by the use of LSD over ZF can be realised if only 33% of sub-carriers are intelligently selected for LSD.","PeriodicalId":312921,"journal":{"name":"The 2nd International Conference on Wireless Broadband and Ultra Wideband Communications (AusWireless 2007)","volume":"229 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132231551","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Standardization bodies and Industry are specifying and integrating next generation network (NGN) infrastructures and NGN services based on an all IP paradigm. The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), 3GPP2 and Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) are working on technological issues to enable services using Internet technology and service orientated architectures (SOA). Furthermore, first thoughts on the architectural and bearer evolution of NGN is taking place under the notion of long term evolution (LTE) and system architecture evolution (SAE). This paper reports about our approach of extending the existing IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) Playground @ FOKUS towards a LTE/SAE testbed and two prototypic services, a single network agnostic voicemail application and a 3G circuit-switched to packet-switched handover scenario as a proof-of-concept for the environment.","PeriodicalId":312921,"journal":{"name":"The 2nd International Conference on Wireless Broadband and Ultra Wideband Communications (AusWireless 2007)","volume":"134 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132312440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This algorithm employs a ratio of the instantaneous channel quality indicator to its mean value and an exponentially weighted moving average of the data rate to be transmitted at the base station (Node-B). Performance of the new algorithm has been compared with round robin, maximum carrier to interference ratio and proportional fair throughput schemes, under pedestrian A, vehicular A and vehicular B environments. The new algorithm has shown higher levels of total cell throughput than round robin and proportional fair throughput schedulers. Furthermore, it is shown that it has good fairness properties that are comparable with the round robin scheduler, and it exhibits low values of the mean end-to-end packet delay.","PeriodicalId":312921,"journal":{"name":"The 2nd International Conference on Wireless Broadband and Ultra Wideband Communications (AusWireless 2007)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114589647","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Autonomic communication networks (ACNs) are recently proposed as business-objective driven high-level self-managed telecommunication networks with the adaptation capability to cope with increasing dynamics. Adaptation capability termed as adaptability becomes the premise of realizing thorough autonomy. As a theoretic foundation, we firstly propose an innovative object-oriented management information base (0:MIB). Secondly, a new information-theoretic security awareness strategy inspired from human immune system is proposed to reconfigure file access right, which has a direct relation with adaptability. The experimental results validate this methodology and find out a statistical bound for operators to set a vulnerability level of warning in practice.","PeriodicalId":312921,"journal":{"name":"The 2nd International Conference on Wireless Broadband and Ultra Wideband Communications (AusWireless 2007)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130131887","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Class-E amplifier has the potential to deliver high efficiency. Class-E amplifier is not an ideal current or voltage source as is required for the traditional analysis of outphasing structures. It requires a phase modulated input signal and has a non-linear transfer characteristic which is a function of load impedance. Here we define an operating load locus based on the load-pull analysis which can be used to predict the non-linear transfer function, efficiency, output power, input drive phase and many other factors associated with the outphasing class-E amplifier. This scheme could also be used to characterize any amplifier class in an outphasing structure.","PeriodicalId":312921,"journal":{"name":"The 2nd International Conference on Wireless Broadband and Ultra Wideband Communications (AusWireless 2007)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132022862","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
