The research aimed to explore the experiences of school bullying among children from different socioeconomic backgrounds in China. Using semi-structured interviews, a diverse sample of children aged 10-15 was purposively selected across urban and rural areas. Thematic analysis revealed recurring patterns and themes within the data, highlighting the complexities of bullying within various social-economic contexts. It emphasizes the need for targeted interventions that consider the specific challenges faced by children from diverse socioeconomic contexts. {"title":"The Bridge Between Students and Professions: Drama in Education","authors":"Huiyan Sun","doi":"10.56397/rae.2023.06.05","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.56397/rae.2023.06.05","url":null,"abstract":"The purpose of this essay is to explore how Drama in Education in China can help students to develop their profession. ‘Drama in Education (DiE) first originated in Britain in the 1960s’, and it is ‘a theatrical art form of a pedagogical nature’. DiE uses drama as means and methods to achieve the educational aims of imparting knowledge and developing skills. This form of education developed in China in the late 20th century. In order to adapt to Chinese situation, scholars have studied and adapted it and put it into practice in drama workshops and courses. Huizhu Sun developed a new form of performance studies in China, 1999, known as social performance studies. ‘It includes Drama in Education, and professional training’. The paper therefore tries to explore the role of DiE as a bridge: connecting students to professions and exploring their creativity and possibilities in terms of this part. I will base on a study of DiE at eduwings kindergarten in Haidian District, Beijing, and focus mainly on a six-person drama programme. Part One explores the reasons for and need for professional development in DiE. Part Two goes on to use the theoretical research of Huizhu Sun to support the argument, analyse the cases and methods shown in social performance studies and explain how it has been applied with a simplified approach in eduwings kindergarten. The study sought to find out how teacher’s motivation correlates with student’s academic achievement in English Language in secondary schools in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria. Four specific purposes were formulated to guide the study. Four research questions and four null hypotheses were formulated to guide the conduct of the study. The design of the study was correlational research design and the population of the study was one hundred and twenty-twoo (122) English language teachers and one hundred and twenty-four (124) SS II students in Nsukka Education Zone of Enugu State, Nigeria. The instrument used for data collection was Teachers’ Motivation Rating Scale (TMRS) for English language teachers and English Language Achievement Test (ELAT) for the students. Data were analyzed using correlation coefficient and coefficient of determination (r2) for all the research questions and t-cal and t-cri (sig t) were used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that: teachers’ condition of service, provision of incentives to teachers, provision of adequate instructional materials for teaching and school leadership all had a very high relationship/correlation with students’ academic achievement in English language, and there were no significant relationship between teachers’ condition of service, provision of incentives for teachers, provision of adequate instructional materials for teaching and school leadership and students’ academic achievement in English language. Today’s world context can be understood as containing certain particular features related to the way we expect public speeches to look like and to the way we understand that it is best for us to give them. The focus will be on the way lecturers and students in the academic field can benefit from incorporating elements of social media public speeches and style, and to use them as templates or as common references when the topic of public speaking comes into discussion. Public speaking skills can be used in plenty of domains and on plenty of occasions. This paper involves issues of teaching materials construction in colleges and universities based on the background of three-wide education. Firstly, the five stages of development of three-wide education and some national documents on teaching materials from 2016 to 2022 are summarized. Secondly, the problems of teaching materials construction in the work are analyzed. These challenges can include difficulties in adapting to new environments, cultural differences, feelings of isolation due to being away from their parents, and academic pressures. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, negative media coverage and social stigmatization of Asians, such as the use of terms like “Chinese virus,” have led to increased discrimination against Asians, particularly Chinese international students, which has had a significant impact on their mental health.
