However, it suffers from theproblem of high Peak-to-Average Power Ratios (PAPR) whichcauses inefficient use of the High Power Amplifier. In thispaper, we propose a hybrid PAPR reduction technique basedon FFT/IFFT tone reservation and the Selected MappingTechnique (SLM) with no side information. In this techniquewe shall use fewer reserve tones (about 2% of the bandwidth)than the original FFT/IFFT based tone reservation techniqueand achieve an outstanding PAPR reduction of about 6dB, atthe cost of complexity in the SLM technique.","PeriodicalId":309902,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Multimedia and Signal Processing","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128497883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Compressed signal demodulation is particularly suitable for impulse ratio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) communications where Nyquist sampling is a formidable challenge. In this paper, aiming at the signaling scheme that the pilot symbols are to provide side information about the channels and data symbols adopt BPM and M-PPM joint modulation, to realize 100Mbps UWB communication system under compressed sensing framework. We introduce the correlation matrix for UWB channel estimation, and propose two compressed demodulation methods: reconstruction mapping (RM) method and compressed signal classification (CSC). Simulation results show that the introduction of correlation matrix, improves channel estimation performance. The two demodulation methods also have a good performance in simulation, and provide a new idea for UWB signal demodulation.","PeriodicalId":309902,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Multimedia and Signal Processing","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134138130","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Existing deblurring methods assume spatial-invarint blur kernel, pixelwise constant blur kernel or planar camera motion. But these assumptions are difficult to hold in the real blurred image which is a spatial-variant blurred image by 3D camera motion. To overcome such limits for stitching blurred image, in this paper, we present a new feature based framework of stitching a clear/blurred image pair. It is inspired by recently proposed projetive warping models depicting the camera movement embedded in the capturing process of the blurred image. Our main contribution is a feature based algorithm for kernel estimation using the overlapped clear/blurred image pair. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed stitching method.","PeriodicalId":309902,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Multimedia and Signal Processing","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129386175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the recognition efficiency of LPP technique is often degraded by the very high dimensional nature of the image space. It is difficult to calculate the bases to represent the original facial images. So the algorithm describing image in vector form is often applied in data after dimension reduction by PCA which result in the algorithm sensitive to how to estimate the intrinsic dimensionality of the nonlinear face manifold in the PCA preprocessing step. A novel approach is presented in this paper to avoid the difficulty. We introduce the application of contourlet transform in conjunction with LPP to overcome these limitations. Experimental results on the ORL, Yale, YaleB, CMU PIE face database show the effectiveness of the contourlet-based locality preserving projection (CLPP) method.","PeriodicalId":309902,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Multimedia and Signal Processing","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132842395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As an adjusting 'third domain' between state and society, the public sphere is an important research for Chinese and foreign scholars in recent years. Habermas' public sphere theory is based on the real world, while the network communication, as a virtual public sphere, has promoted the transformation of Habermas' public sphere. The virtual public sphere has publicized the social life of the public. Netizens express opinions about public affairs through forums and other virtual public sphere, to form public opinion, in order to affect the government policy decisions. This phenomenon coincides with the theory of policy networks which is an emerging pattern. Network citizen participation has several advantages of letting people enjoy the full democratic rights and promoting citizen participation enthusiasm; Meanwhile, network citizen participation has some problems: the 'digital divide', the lack of legal way to participate, the lack of specific participation approaches in process, the tangle between rational and non-rational network citizen participation, the loose issue networks leading to the disorder and transience of the participation. In this paper, the author proposed some solutions to the problem of citizen participation in virtual public sphere, wishing to develop political and social democracy or means in China.","PeriodicalId":309902,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Multimedia and Signal Processing","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133104391","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These two blurs will degrade the image quality and will also decrease the subsequent pattern recognition accuracy. In this paper, we propose a robust weed recognition scheme using the low quality color weed images with the above-mentioned image blurs. The proposed scheme consists of three steps. First, image matte is used to segment the soil and the plant. Second, the image-moment-based blur invariant features are calculated. Third, weed recognition is performed by using the computed Euclidean distance based on the moment invariants. We have experimentally proved that the effective use of image blur information improves the recognition accuracy of camera-captured weeds.","PeriodicalId":309902,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Multimedia and Signal Processing","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133335972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Owing to the feature of fractal compression, its retrieval for similar images is difficulty. A method is proposed to evaluate the similarity of images compressed. The method allows for comparing loss-compressed images and based upon the fractal framework of the iterated function systems (IFS) widely used for image compression. The image index is represented through a vector of numeric features, corresponding to contractive functions (CF) of the IFS framework. Because a compression code contains mapping information between similar regions in the same image, this mapping information can be treated as vectors. Also, it is important to generate the representative vectors using the mapping vectors. This representative vector can describes the features of the images, so the similarity between images is directly calculable from representative vectors. This similarity is applicable to image retrieval, and the scheme will be explained and demonstrated experimentally on its efficiency in this paper.","PeriodicalId":309902,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Conference on Multimedia and Signal Processing","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126103451","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
